Five minutes from the train station, which is 15 min from the city center. Great, lively neighborhood. This is a fantastic room with a fantastic host. It has a full size bed in an 8’X8’ room and is decorated with art from Mexican American artists who live here in Pilsen. If you’re looking for posh then stay in a different neighborhood. Prices are as low as $30 but generally are more on weekends. Lastly, please do not ask for an early or late check in because I can not accommodate that request.
Thanks for your trust and your consideration. This place is perfect for college-age or young professionals, but everyone, is welcome, First, this is my home and everyone is welcome, including LGBT peeps, all immigrants, women, international travelers, marchers, and everyone else. Positive, safe, and fun energy is welcome here. This neighborhood is considered an up and coming area for artists and is very cool. Within a few blocks there are authentic Mexican restauraunts, El Mesquite and El Milagro. Pubs are easy to walk to. I recommend Simone's but Harbee's is closer. It's also next to a park and a Mexican Museum. There's a liquor store right next (West side) of the train station and on the other side (East side) Family Dollar, which if you buy something there you can withdraw money and the ATM fees are only $1.50. So I go there to get laundry cash all of the time... and where I get my Junior Mints.:) The Pink Line train station is less than 5 minutes walk to my place. The bus #18 on 18th St. is 1 minute away. Bike rental is available next to the train station. If you're able to send me an inquiry about certain dates then those dates are, indeed, available and I'd love to host you. For everyone's safety I do request that guests upload a picture ID and a gov ID to AirBnB's website. After room is reserved please ask me for a video that I can send you that will take you from the train station to my place so you’ll know exactly how to get here. Train and bus passes can be purchased at any train station and the attendants are very helpful if you have any questions. It's $20 for a 3-day pass and $28 for a 7-day pass for both bus and the train. And to rent bikes for 24 hours it's $7.

    Louise2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Host was available through email only. The apartment complex is decrepid and is falling apart. Stairs creak, the furniture in the apartment is broken as well.

    Tania2016-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Checking in was super easy, and Matt was flexible with our arrival time. The neighborhood was super cute--the day we went was particularly hot out, and neighborhood kids were playing in an open fire hydrant, across the street from people barbecuing on the sidewalk. The bed was amaaaaazingly comfy, and the apartment was very clean and inviting. It was also a superb location for accessing downtown, while getting a local flavor. All in all, a great experience!

    Elyse2015-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 2 nights there and it was perfect. The information Matt gave us to check in were very helpful. The room size is correct. Everything you need is here, fridge microwave oven etc. Also it's 5min walk to the pink line that take you to the Loop. Especially if you are in a budget, I recommend you this place compared that a single bed in an hostel will cost you the same price.

    Alexandre2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly host who met me as soon as I arrived at the apartment. The apartment was in a good neighbourhood with good access the CTA metro train, shops, etc. The apartment was clean and had everything I needed. My skull room had a very comfortable bed and good heating throughout the day. I had keys for my room, for my apartment and access to the front door. And if I had any problems matt would respond very quickly. One of the best host and nicest guys I have ever encountered, he cares a lot about his guests and made sure I had a good and safe stay. The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't spend longer there due to flight home. When I return to Chicago I will stay here again.

    James2016-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Matt's a great host. Very responsive, courteous, and accommodating. Truly enjoyed dealing with him. The place is pretty basic, but clean and close to public transport. Can't be beat for the price. It was a pleasure to stay here for a couple nights.

Private room in an artistic 3rd floor apartment that's 1 block from the train which goes downtown in 15 minutes. Free public street parking is available. The building it is in is often graced by art shows on the lower floors and the apartment itself is full of art from local artists. We're located in the Pilsen Neighborhood near the Mexican Museum of Art, many local galleries, stores, restaraunts, and nightlife. You'll get a colorful taste of the real Chicago. Early & Late Arrival is okay!
The apartment is shared by the Airbnb host (me!) and has a kitchen, wifi, full bathroom, outdoor porch, and a huge living space and is always quiet & clean. It is in an old czech style building and so is more rustic than modern looking inside, but also far more artistic and fun than other places! I have 2 airbnb rooms, so you may meet other Airbnb guests!
It is located in the Pilsen Neighborhood which has a rich Latin American history and culture and is known to be one of the most creative neighborhoods in Chicago. There are many gallery spaces, restaraunts, shops and events run by long time locals of the neighborhood.
  • Mike was a great host and quickly responded to any question I had. This apartment was so fun and artsy and in a very art centric neighborhood. There was all sorts of great Mexican eats and I wish I had spent more time in this hood.

    Adriana2017-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mike's place was great ! Super fun and tidy. Perfect for what we had in mind. Artsy, interesting place full of character. Mike was very communicative and helpful. Chicago was a blast. Thanks again!

    Maris2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place. Comfy and warm bed. Easy access to trains and close to a bunch of cool places.

    Toni2019-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Mike was the most caring and generous host!! I came in very anxious into Chicago and he helped me get accommodated fast and had the BEST reccomendations as a local native. The neighborhood was AMAZING and I had so much fun exploring the local culture! The apartment was Sososo cozy and unique. Slept super well and will definitely do again!

    Melanie2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Funky digs, very comfy bed in an artistic space. Close to good coffee and cheap eats. Mike was super quick to respond and even looked up good events for us in the area. Would stay again.

    Laura2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Mike’s place is very conveniently located, very close to subway, it has everything we needed. Mike responds to messages really quickly. Very good value for Chicago. There are two floors of stairs that you need to climb but mike let us put the luggage on the first floor so it isn’t a problem for us.

    Lingzi2019-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Mikes place looks like it does in the pictures, though I thought the room would be a bit bigger than it was. The place is cozy but not the grandest place to live. If you’re just staying for a night or two and not looking for anything fancy but want a cheap place, stay here. Mike wasn’t around much, but it was a very smooth check in. Uber doesn’t cost much from downtown and the subway is only a 5 minute walk. There’s a park right next to the place so it is very family friendly. On Friday, there was a very noisy party downstairs so be weary if you go on the weekends. The price is very reasonable though!

    Vicki2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a cool place. I stayed a few nights at Mike's place. The funky painted walls, creaking floor, vintage furniture, even the well lived in stuffiness of the top floor gave the whole affair a certain hard to beat feeling. The room was very comfortable, little AC unit any everything. The living room is a great size. There weren't any other tenants on my floor so the whole place was mine. The kitchen seemed pretty well stacked. The neighborhood has the best tacos you'll find short of Mexico, so much good food in walking distance and definitely pop into the National Mexican Art Museum if you can. Overall, cool place and cool neighborhood. Get in quick before he gentrification changes it all. I'd stay here again.

This Unit is newly remodeled located on the back side of a commercial building with its own private bathroom and shower along with a working fridge, Microwave, sink and futon. It is a perfect location near the train station with plenty of Restaurants within walking distance. This is a studio inside an apartment unit, so please be aware that other tenants and people live in the building.
The space isn't very big but it has everything you need. I also have a noise policy, monday- Friday, tenants and guest must lower noise level at 10:30pm. Weekends you reserve the right to noise until 12:00am.
The neighborhood is an up and coming place filled with lots of restaurants and places to explore, it’s a very artistic influences neighborhood with lots of bars along the Main Street (18th street)
  • le studio est très bien positionné.

    Manon2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Les plus : proximité des transports en commun. Literie confortable. Quartier calme.

    Zelda2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay here. It was only me and my sister, so it was just enough room, and very comfortable. The neighborhood is nice and quiet. There are plenty of places around for you to walk to like restaurants, a park, and even a museum is about 5 minutes away. We never got to meet Josue, but it was always easy to get in touch with him. Price is nice for the entire place. We would probably come back here if we were to visit Chicago again.

    Thao2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The neighborhood was a little rougher than I would have liked. The place was exactly as the pictures portrayed. There are roosters right outside the apartment...if we didn’t have the AC running we would have heard them constantly.

    Mackenzie2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Josue's place was just as advertised, no surprises, it was clean, check-in was very flexible and Josue replied quickly to our messages. The neighborhood was residential and very clean and the house was superclose to the L.

    Helena2018-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • It was very clean, just much smaller than excepted. It was fine for one night and just sleeping there, but was very small. Kinda expensive for how small it was.

    Sarah2019-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Josue is a very nice and helpful host. The neighbours are very friendly and helpful as well. He tried to help and provided really good service to my friend and I. The location is perfect, it was not noisy that we had a very good sleep. The streets were silent at night(maybe because it was a Thanksgiving night), but we walked home safely for both nights. Overall, it was a really great stay! =)

    Jen Lyn2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely room to stay in. The bed was comfortable and the place was clean. I had no issues checking in or out. Close by the Midway airport. Josue was quick to respond via text message.

Welcome! This wonderful clean, spacious airbnb is located in Chicago's vibrant artist and historic neighborhood named “Pilsen.” It is situated on the famous 18th Street near to Harrison Park and The National Museum of Mexican Art. The Pink elevated train line is a block away will bring you to the Chicago Loop in 15 minutes. There are many fun and hip restaurants, cafes, musical venues, parks, and cultural events available nearby.
We have two rooms available to rent (see "Airbnb Pilsen Treasure, 15min to Downtown Chicago") For more information please go to that ad and/or inquire.
Neighborhood overview The neighborhood of Pilsen is very special! It was skipped over by the great Chicago fire and is an Historic District. Most of the buildings are over 150 years old and European in scale. The architecture is primarily Czech with lots of detail. Today Pilsen is diverse and home to thriving and colorful artistic and Mexican communities. There are great vintage, record, book, and import stores as well as many bohemian cafes where artist come from their studios to talk about art and life, etc. There is an excellent choice of very authentic Mexican restaurants and bakeries, as well as other global cuisines such as a Creperie, Italian and Chinese restaurants, and wonderful Brunch options, etc. Nearby in Harrison Park there is the internationally renown National Museum of Mexican Art which is very unique, sophisticated and fun! They host many exciting events throughout the year. There is also an organic juice bar!
  • Thank you for the wonderful ,warm family experience. Wish to stay with them next time whenever we r at Chicago.

  • Thanks for the amazing hospitality Donald! I really appreciated the hand drawn map, all the tips, and suggestions. The room was very comfortable and I loved the hotel like sheets and towels.

  • Awesome funky neighborhood!

    Alex2018-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cute place in a really hip, up and coming, historic, neighborhood, with art galleries, coffee shops, mom and pop businesses, museums, parks and the pink line steps away. Colby is a very attentive, welcoming hostess. It is a great spot for an urban Chicago experience.

    Suzahn2019-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Donald and Colby were such exceptionally wonderful hosts. The room was perfect, super clean, the bedding was sparkling white and new. And it was quiet, perfect for a relaxing sleep. The bathroom was clean and functional. Donald and Colby were very helpful recommending restaurants and special sights around town. Another big plus is that the metro is very close, and you can reach the cultural city center in less than 20min. I will try to come back to Chicago soon.It is an amazing town and it makes it even better staying at such a lovely place with fantastic people.

    May2018-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing stay! Will definitely come back again!

    Arsen2018-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Donald was an excellent host and a generous soul! He waited up late to greet me because of a delayed flight and was so understanding. It is clear that he truly enjoys the fellowship and conversation of sharing his space and meeting new people! The room was comfortable and clean and the art gallery space is stylish, too!

    Meriah2018-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Pilsen is a hidden gem. Forbes Magazine calls it one of the 12 coolest neighborhoods in the world. Hosts the world renowned National Museum of Mexican American Art. Donald’s Air BnB is a just a block from the 18th St CTA station. A quick 15 min. To the Loop. The neighborhood is teaming with street art and murals. Authentic high quality Mexican restaurants are in easy walking distance. A few doors away is an awesome Mexican Bakery. The host greeted me at the door as my Uber arrived. They responded quickly and was very helpful explaining area reasources. A real treat was breakfast, if desired, each morning. I give this host my highest recommendation.

Private entry efficiency garden studio, suited best for the solo or duo business conference traveler, adventurer, and tourists. Near to downtown, Rush, UIC, McCormick Convention Center, Thalia Hall, and 5 minute walk to the 'el' train, Divvy Bikes or Metra stop
See the map located at the bottom of our profile so you can plan out your navigation and if this is a good location for you. Free Street parking all around. Your space is a garden level unit, we live upstairs...we give you your own space, but be sure to say hi if you'd like to chat a little:)
We LOVE our neighborhood, bordering Pilsen and Heart of Chicago, mixed with family homes, up and coming entrepreneurs, college students, artists, performers, and the like. We have record and book stores, gift and clothing shops, artist work spaces, and creative restaurants that have opened in Pilsen, all between our home and eastward to Halstead. To our near West lie the Laganitas Brewing Company, the Cinespace, Chicago's film studio Thalia Hall has some great musical and comedic performers coming through. Some nearby eats: Parkview Diner on Damen & 19th St., they have the best Gorditas! Jumping Bean Coffee at the Damen Pink Line Stop brews a tasty cup and serves up tasty soups and sandwiches. 18th St. Bistro is budget friendly for breakfast and lunch. La Casa del Pueblo is our favorite grocery, they carry a lot of healthy items similar to what you can find in Whole Foods. There is also a Costco and Jewel-Osco just north of us near Ashland&Roosevelt.

  • Denise and Nathan are swift in their responses once we booked the accommodation :) Also, they provided information on the area, and were clear with their instructions on the place. The studio was extremely cosy and neat, and stocked with shower necessities, snacks and entertainment :) We were pleasantly surprised and definitely enjoyed our stay at the studio. Also, the train station to get to downtown Chicago was a convenient short walk from the studio :) Ah yes, there might be some noises from the roads and upstairs, but it was all right. We enjoyed our stay, and will definitely come back again if we visit Chicago! :)

    Kimberly2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was absolutely beautiful and was in a wonderful vibrant neighborhood. Denise and Nathan were very clear with instructions and communication was perfect! Apartment was off of main downtown and in a very quiet neighborhood and close to pink line to downtown. Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Chicago.

    Jake2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing spot. Clean, cozy, and centrally located! They provide snacks, which is awesome!

    Ashley2017-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We lived in Nathan and Denise´s studio in west pilsen for two nights, me and my family (one child at the age of 2). And Nathan and Denise was really professional and helpful. The communication was often immaculate, and I am sure I have a lot of questions before arrival, and therefore I sometimes felt I had to ask twice, probably because I wasnt told to wait for all the Information until close to arrival, but bringing my family I needed to be more prepared. Nathan and Denise kindly provided us with a baby crib, which was good help. The bed and other ammenities were also nice experiences, but the studio itself is a little dark and cold. It is described as a garden unit a couple of stairs down from Nathan and Denise, but for me it felt more like a basement unit built below the sidewalks and streets. Though it was cute and Nathan and Denise certainly had made the best out of it. With a kid it was really good to have easily accesible Netflix, kids television and Wifi. On the other hand, I did not really feel entirely safe in those areas running around with my family, and we didnt want to have a walk in the areas past dark hours. This might be true for entire Chicago, but I would probably next time not go further west than Gordon. Having said that, booking through airBNB is ofcourse not the same thing as putting yourself in a 5-star accommodation, but my expactations were just a little bit different than the experience.

    Hanna2018-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • The price, cleanliness, proximity to public transit, speedy communication, and free hospitality treats were great. One drawback is that the ceiling of the room is the floor of host living space. The floor/ ceiling is thin, so if something is moderately loud upstairs you can hear it downstairs. Despite this one drawback, I would probably stay again.

    Seth2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at Denise and Nathan's place. Rain was in the forecast, and they thoughtfully left umbrellas out for me. Directions were simple taking the blue and pink lines out to their place, and then a short walk of a few blocks. Comfy bed, nice little apartment for anyone staying on Chicago.

“Featuring streets lined with hip galleries and walls decorated with colorful murals dating from the 1970s, the Pilsen neighborhood on Chicago’s Lower West Side is a nest of cutting-edge culture and art,” says Biggs Bradley. “It’s been fostered by successive waves of Eastern European and Mexican immigrants, in addition to local artists and students, who have molded this fascinating area over the past century and a half. At the National Museum of Mexican Art, the 10,000-piece collection showcases the work of Mexican and Mexican-American artists. And there are a growing number of performance venues, art studios and trendy bars like the popular Punch House. Written by: Ann Abel Forbes Magazine

  • It’s a very nice studio in the lower west side. You’ll need to Uber/Lyft to the downtown and tourist spots but the rides aren’t long or expensive. Definitely recommend for someone traveling alone or a small group.

Pilsen is our favorite neighborhood in Chicago and is in the midst of dramatic change - hopefully change that retains the vibrant Mexican culture that makes it what it is. This is an artistic and culinary mecca for Chicago, with galleries throughout the neighborhood, politically and socially conscious murals on every block, and a wide array of food, including some of Chicago's best Mexican cuisine. The Mexican Fine Arts Museum is one of the best in the country. Several breweries are located here, along with dive bars, comedy spots, upscale fusion restaurants and music and mole festivals throughout the warm months. This is a demographically diverse community that is still dominated by Mexican families, but has a strong hipster and young professional presence as well. Get ready for Portlandia style beards and coiffed dogs.
  • Location dans un endroit calme. les 2 lits supplémentaires sont moins confortables que celui de la chambre principale (un peu dures)

  • The hosts were super nice and quick to answer questions. Their place was spacious and private. Perfect for my group of 3

  • José is an excellent host who types personalized responses to each message. Great hospitality in a location close to the 18th Street Pink Line Station!

  • Nice host, nice place. Really comfortable to stay and get some rest! I will recommend this place:)

  • Charming space with a super comfortable bed! This was a great location for our weekend to Chicago. Just minutes from all downtown has to offer, nestled in a quiet neighborhood. Jose and April were great hosts, and the communication exceeded what I expected, which I appreciated. The space was private, quiet, and comfortable.

    Shawn2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • This full floor is comfortable and private, and Jose was a fantastic host, very helpful and always available if I needed anything. Highly recommended!

  • My stay at April & Jose's was very nice they are very welcoming and helpfull people. The house is in a very nice Neighbourhood and we had a great time in Chicago. You should like cats if you stay at their's tough. If you love cats then you will love that place.

    Bernhard2018-04-01T00:00:00Z

  • We stayed at Ernesto's during the memorial weekend. I was amazed at the location. He gave us instructions on where to find the place etc.. and it was really helpful. There's a bus stop just in front of the apartment building and the train station at a walking distance. So many restaurants and bakery to chose from- it was amazing. The room was super clean perfect for two people and the place itself is gorgeous. It gets a little hot in the summer but he has the ac running which helps a lot. He also let us use the kitchen which was awesome. We took uber to downtown chicago (10 min). The neighbour is so lively. We walked around the block every night to enjoy the weather and it was always safe . We will definitely come back.

    Carole2018-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Ernesto's place is amazing !!! True value for money, he is very friendly and cooperative I will definitely stay at his place again whenever I visit Chicago again. Honestly I suggest everyone either single or couple who is planning to visit Chicago to books Ernesto's place without looking anywhere else . It's close to downtown like just 5-10 minutes CTA ride and pink line is literally Just 6-7 houses away. The house is super clean very neatly arranged you have all the amenities which are required for daily life you even get a guest MacBook to use !!! There is a huge TV in living room with comfy couches if you want to watch Netflix at free time and most of all you have complete privacy. Ernesto isn't home most of the day and sometimes even night but he's always available on phone. The laundry unit isn't setup in appartment yet so you have to take clothes like one block away to a shop but Ernesto told me it will be installed soon on a rooftop. I stayed at enresto's place for like a whole 1 month and I am super happy with it. It's really like home :)

    Mohammad2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was an excellent place. We had a wonderful stay. Ernesto was a great host, quick with responses and very well detailed check-in instructions. Place was lovely, especially the mattress!! Definitely recommend it. Amazing Mexican food right next door!

    Sathyajeeth2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ernesto’s place was wonderful and with two delicious Mexican restaurants as neighbors who can ask for more?! Although we never had a chance to meet, Ernesto was a great communicator on the app leaving clear instructions for check in. We appreciated our privacy very much. He also has a great eclectic decor style and the apartment smells really good. Location was great 👍🏽 literally a short Uber/lyft ride to any of the major tourist areas. I would definitely recommend this Airbnb and would stay here again.

    Stephanie2018-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Ernesto is a great host. He always made us feel welcome at his place and tried to accommodate our requests. Apartment is clean and a good 25 minutes from downtown Chicago

  • I’ll defiantly recommend Ernesto’s apartment. Clean and nice plus the location very convenient.

Cozy one bedroom apt in the cultural and artistic neighborhood of Pilsen. Near downtown Chicago, Chinatown, Taylor st., Greektown, and Museums. Pilsen has a variety of accomplished restaurants, coffee shops, merchant shops, Thalia hall, all within walking distance. All public transportation is easily accessible from this location.
  • We were impressed with the friendliness of the hosts, cleanliness of the apartment, and short/easy trips into downtown. Overall value is very good!!

  • This place was a dream. Perfect location right next to public transportation and AMAZING restaurants within minuets walking distance. Such a good value for how close/accessible it is to great food, downtown and public transportation. Will be coming back when we are in Chicago!

    Rachel2019-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • All was perfect, so clean and it is well connected with the public transport.

  • Alfred was very quick to respond to my messages, and even let me check in an hour early. The place was as described and overall a good place to be in for a visit to Chicago! Will try to make it back the next time I’m here.

    Richard2019-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for being a great host. The place was amazing and I felt very comfortable. Very convenient to many restaurants and short Uber rides to downtown as well as the mini mart below for the needed quick stops. Great place to stay!!!

    Christopher2018-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Alfred’s place is an a great location. I was notified early in the day that I would be able to check in early! Huge plus. Easy check in and easy checkout. The apartment was comfortable and clean. Building is safe and secure with quiet neighbors. Although there is no parking in front of the building. There is free parking less than a block away. Alfred also helped me with that as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the city.

Ideal for solo/business travelers and couples exploring Chicago. The Place. Shared house with a private room where you will feel right at home. (see photos and host reviews) The Neighborhood. Pilsen is 15-20 minutes from the downtown whether by train, cab or bike. A family neighborhood with a strong Hispanic community.
A warm clean home to serve as a home base for your Chicago experience. Perfect for a business traveler and equally comfortable for a couple, group of friends or individual traveler exploring the city. There is a main twin bed shown in the photos and a second (aerobed twin) that can be inflated. For a couple a twin can be a bit small.
Pilsen is a phenomenal neighborhood with a Mexican heritage. You can expect to find a mix of families, students and professionals. I moved from Lincoln Park and for me, there's no more exciting place to live. Culture is easily accessible and your host will help you get the most out of the diverse neighborhood. From trendy coffee shops, restaurants and concert halls to community events and the best taquerias in town. SAFE Neighborhood Can't stress enough the safety of the neighborhood. The neighbors are three females in the their 20s and a family that's lived in the neighborhood for 40years. A block on each side is a high school, public park, and the cta. There are always police patrolling the block. You'll find soccer games in the park every weeknight and softball on the weekends. The neighborhood isn't as clean cut as the uptown neighborhoods... there are streetlights out and you'll see litter. Guests who take a walk on arrival fall in love with the neighborhood. Happy to join you for a walk on arrival.
  • Jeff was a great host. He waited for us to check in late and gave us a great welcoming.

    Jaleesa2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second time at Jeff's place.Jeff is an awesome host and if you have any questions he will definitely answer them. Jeff thank you for everything. I will be back soon.

    Chris2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • The home was charming inside and felt like a refuge from the bustle from the rest of the city. His recommended attractions were spectacular, particularly Dusek's caught us off guard. The nearby pink line was a very beneficial resource. The place felt welcoming and homey and I would absolutely recommend it to my friends.

    Daniel2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sehr schöne Lage, super Gastgeber. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt

    Maria2016-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff is kind and helpful. He made me feel like going back home. There was even a bottle of red wine in the room. So surprising. Room was compact, but nice and clean, exact as the host described. Neighberhood was great! Near mexican community, very cultural, old buildings. Lots of interesting shops and resturants. Mexican museum, Thalia hall, park nearby. 1 min walk to train station and bus stop. Definitely recommended.

    Jing2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff was such an awesome host. Giving us tips of Chicago . His place is located right next to the train station the pink line which takes you right into downtown. His apartment is perfect for solo or couple who are traveling to Chicago. It's right next to a lot of nice mom and pop Mexican restaurants. See you soon Jeff thanks for everything you did

    Chris2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff was always in communication with me, made efforts to greet me when I arrived and was always accessible. It was obvious that Jeff puts his guests first and included meaningful gestures to show he cares, such as welcoming me with a bottle of wine, stack of clean towels, and an Andes mint chocolate. His place was clean, which was important for me as I was visiting for an interview. I will definitely look forward to seeing Jeff again during my subsequent visits to Chicago! Thanks. Another bonus was that his girlfriend was a resident at the program I was here to interview for, and she definitely helped set the tone for my great experience here.

    Woojin2016-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff was a fantastic host! He made me feel incredibly welcome and was thoughtful and warm. He was very accommodating to any requests I had (ex: I felt cold and he was able to provide me with an extra comforter), and responsive to any problems that I encountered during my stay there. His place is very cool and unique. The room is simple but sufficient, and exactly as pictured. The neighborhood has lots of cheap and delicious Mexican food, and easy access to public transit.

It is so convenient for transport and near downtown and such a friendly neighborhood. The Mexican art museum was well worth a visit and just across the road and the local restaurants were also excellent. A hidden gem indeed.

  • Jason was extremely helpful. He checked in from time to time to make that I made it in safely and that I wasn’t having any issues. Exceptional communication skills. He also sent a reminder about the check out process. Would definitely book again as well as recommend his space. Brand new appliances and furnishing. Just an amazing experience from beginning to end.

    Tajai2019-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jason's place is newly renovated. It has modern, tasteful decor and brand new appliances. The apartment is well-equipped and convenient to downtown Chicago. The pink line train runs by quite closely but the noise wasn't a problem for us (just a low rumble). It is only a five minute walk to the train station (18th) and then about 20 minutes to downtown. The area felt very safe - strong Mexican/Spanish flavour in the neighbourhood. There is also a Dollar Store and grocery store by the 18th station. This is a really convenient and comfortable place to stay while you visit the Chicago sights.

    Linda2018-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the location of Jason's place. The area (Pilsen) is really cool - lots of great food, drinks and art. Definitely a bit further away from the centre, but it was our second time visiting Chicago so we'd already spent time seeing the highlights. The apartment itself was sparse but new and functional, so it met our needs. We would stay here again!

    Shayenne2019-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jason was quick and responsive and his place was spotless! Great location being super close to the L, and it’s a safe area. Easy check in and even easier checkout. Loved it and will keep it in mind for our next trip to the city!

    Leah2018-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, good location. Would recommend!

    Josh2018-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jason's place is super cute, well appointed, comfortable and very well located. It's (almost) next door to the Mexican art museum. It's also extremely accessible to the train station to get all around town. We had a great, relaxing time and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to visit Chicago.

    Natalie2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jason’s place is spotless clean and sooooo cozy we felt right at home. It’s an easy walk to the train, bus, and all that Pilsen has to offer. My wife and I live in Chicago and just stayed due to some repairs being done on our home, so having private laundry readily available was amazing. The train isn’t s bother st all, but We did have trouble sleeping the first night due to a random noise from the refrigerator, but Jason is such an amazing host and tried to help us adress that and I’m sure for future guest he will evaluate. He was flexible with extending my stay an extra two nights and extending my check out by a few hours. Such an amazing experience ! If I need a home away from home again in Chicago I would stay again.

    Ashley2019-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my stay at Jason’s apartment! It was very clean and roomy. The train wasn’t much of a problem, but getting into the Lockbox was somewhat confusing. Other than that I loved the apartment and location. Thanks again!

Once a butcher shop, this storefront is now an artist run studio space with a full bathroom (no kitchen). Sleeps 2 normally, can handle 4-5 (air mattress available). CTA Pink Line is across the street - bars, cafes, restaurants close by.
The storefront has one real bed for 2 people and we can easily accommodate another 2 or 3 if necessary (full air mattress + couch). You'll have a bathroom and studio style live/sleep area. There is a mini-fridge and stereo system as well. We try to be as accommodating as possible with check-in/out times. We provide plenty of literature about the neighborhood and events happening in the area, as well as treats and necessities to make your stay more fun and comfortable.
The CTA's Pink Line is across the street and gets you downtown in 15 minutes. We're also a close walk to great bars, restaurants, cafes, galleries and venues. Pilsen is full of cool spots, here are a few to note: Nitecap Cafe FREE---National Museum of Mexican Art Honky Tonk Prospectus Gallery Dusek's Thalia Hall Skylark Jumping Bean Cafe In addition to Pilsen's perfect late night taco spots and some of the best karaoke in town we're a 10 minute train ride from Chicago's Restaurant Row on Randolph. Some of Chicago's very best bars and restaurants are located on Randolph and they're worth exploring.
  • Appartement spacieux et très original avec beaucoup de charme. Situé à 1 minute à pied d’une station de métro, ce qui permet d’aller rapidement dans le loop. Check-in/check-out très faciles.

  • First, I’ll start by saying Matt is truly the definition of a SUPER host! While the apartment offered great amenities, accommodations, superb location, easy accessibility into the city, what I appreciated most was dealing with a real person, who made himself available and accommodated my every need! I recently moved to Chicago, and originally planned to stay at the apartment for two weeks and extended my stay by a month! Matt was very flexible and extremely helpful in the transition! He’s a true Chicagoan and can recommend all Chicago has to offer beyond the tourist attractions, as there is truly so much to discover and love about the city! But back to the apartment, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Literally around the corner from the 18th St Pink Line stop, which is about a 15 min train ride to the Loop, or a 15 minute, $7 ride on a Lyft/Uber. Not only will you have easy access to downtown, but Pilsen (area the apartment is located in) has so much to offer from great restaurants (some are even BYOB!), shops, everything and anything you may need literally a block over on 18th St. This apartment is very comfortable, and conveniently located. There is plenty of free street parking, which is huge for Chicago - not only is parking scarce, but can be very expensive too! A few other great things I appreciated and didn’t mention: safe area, access to a laundry machine on site, plenty clean towels and linens, neat and clean apartment, WiFi, Netflix, kitchenette with small fridge, microwave, and oven. This apartment has so much to offer and truly works well for both short and long-term stays! I’m very appreciative of Matt’s hospitality and attentiveness, and highly recommend booking this Airbnb for your stay in Chicago!

  • Matteo was an awesome host. Our stay was very welcoming and trusted. The neighborhood was very open and accepting. We were his first guest in his home and was very pleased. If I had to go back next time to a music festival, Matteo would be highly recommended.

  • Everything I could possibly need in the apartment or within a short walk. My host was incredibly welcoming and helpful. Lots to do around the neighborhood and easy to get into the city via the pink line. This is by far the best experience I've had through the service.

    Mariano2019-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Matteo was a remarkable host. He gave awesome recommendations for eats in Pilsen, and its a hop skip and a jump away from the loop. The place was clean and well kept. The only thing to note is that the pink line runs right over the house which shakes everything and can be hard to get to sleep and stay asleep. If you are a light sleeper be wary. However it is a great home, I enjoyed my stay and had a great experience.

  • John is a very great host. He prepares everything into the details. Once I'm here, he talked with me a lot about travel suggestion. It is a really comfortable experience. I would definitely select such a convenient place did I come next time to Chicago.

    Xuanpeng2016-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • I was surprised it's located on the 3rd floor with a very narrow staircase. But it's ok, just surprised. We're happy our bedroom (Room 1) has closet, the other room didn't seems like it, but very narrow. Parking was street-parking with parking pass/sticker. Besides everything is great, location, safety, distance to the train station, etc.

  • Everything was very good. The place súper clean and cute. IThe host very nice, he lives next Door, nice neighborhood, Restaurants and stuff, well conected to the City and airport( blue line) I really recomend you stay there, i would love to stay there again on my next trip.

    Eugene2016-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really this was the best stay! I read the other reviews and was curious about how they could all be so good. So much so that I thought they were made up, but this place was beyond expectation. John was very kind and easily reachable. The place was very clean and he even went as far to offer the best transit routes and things to do in the city. I hope all of my Airbnbs are like this.

    Matthew2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here over the weekend and it was great! John keeps the place very clean and provides everything you would need during your stay. He was super fast with responding to my questions and had plenty of great suggestions of places to go in the area. You can tell he loves his city! I would most definitely stay there again! Everything was easy from check-in to check-out!

  • There were many things that went wrong. To start with the lock would not open with provided passcode the opening button was jammed. After getting in, next day morning the heater stopped working with snowy weather outside and both the bathroom would not have hot water. Luckily there was hot water (not hot, just a little warm) in the bathroom on first floor started around noon, leaving us 8 people using 1 bathroom. We Contacted the owner multiple times and response was “Someone will come to fix it”, which never happened. On second day, somehow the heater stared working but the hot water issue persisted.

    Kirtan2019-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Love the location. Perfect for anyone visiting someone at UIC and lots of space and all the amenities you could ask for. Place could use a very small amount of work but Russell was fast and responsive to any concern we had and we had a great time and was comfortable as a group of 11.

Pilsen, ranked by Forbes magazine as one of the 12 coolest neighborhoods in the world! Featuring streets lined with hip galleries and walls decorated with colorful murals dating from the 1970s, the Pilsen neighborhood is the heart of Chicago’s cutting-edge culture and art.
My apartment is a mid-century modern designed apartment that centers on the principle, “less is more.” Located in the heart of Pilsen, you’ll be across the street from the 18th street train station and staying on the same block as the The National Museum of Mexican Art! PS- natural light illuminates every corner of the apartment.
Culture thrives in Pilsen and invites you to explore the treasures that wait around every corner. Here bold murals have blossomed in the most unexpected places — on the fronts of homes, along railway overpasses, and wrapped around train platforms. The artful vibe continues within storefront galleries and studios, as well as in the colorful collections of the National Museum of Mexican Art, a highly-regarded cultural institution. If you're a foodie, say no more -- Pilsen's food offerings are some of the best in North America! Folks from around the city come to Pilsen to eat and drink. The food will literally melt in your mouth!

The neighborhood of Pilsen is very special! • Donald et Colby sont très accueillant et nous ont préparés de savoureux petits-déjeuners Nous recommandons chaudement leur hospitalité à de futurs voyageurs

  • Donald and Colby are FANTASTIC hosts and will do whatever it takes to make you feel at home. They're both lovely people, who are well travelled, hospitable and great conversationalists. The gallery is filled with a wonderful energy and beautiful art. My room was quite pretty and the bed was really comfortable. I also really loved the neighbourhood and highly recommend people stay at The Colby Gallery!

    Laura2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • The location is easy to find and has free secure parking. Donald and Colby are the nicest hosts you could ask for. From offering breakfast and making coffee for us each morning, to letting us sample a shake and a lentil dish (and giving us the recipe!). We enjoyed hearing about Donald's travel. The space is beautiful and well lit, and the bed is super comfortable. We enjoyed the nice weather, but with no AC, we were a little too warm most of our stay. The location is easily accessible from public transportation and a short drive to the city. Thank you!

    Amy2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • First and foremost, Donald is a fantastic host. The gallery is in a beautiful part of Chicago, we could have spent the whole trip just exploring that area alone. It’s absolutely worth taking Donald’s suggestions about where to eat/drink/sightsee in Pilsen - we tried a few places and they didn’t disappoint . He also gave us a really helpful map which was super thoughtful. We were offered breakfast every morning (Donald makes great French toast!) and had some great conversations with Donald in the evenings when we returned to the gallery - over some wine of course! The Airbnb is equipped with everything you need and we will definitely return!

    Charlotte2018-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Donald and his daughter were lovely hosts, very kind and thoughtful! They made me French toast for breakfast and made sure I would get to my appointments on time. I would very much like to stay with them again! Recommend them highly.

    Bettina2018-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The parking is in a secure, gated area with lock available in the back entrance. Colby and Donald have a nice set-up; pictures and amenities as described/shown. Colby is a very generous host, and over-delivered on expectations (providing a lovely breakfast, helpful directions, her time and attention to all matters).

    MarJanie2018-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Donald’s home doubles as an art gallery and he’s very knowledgeable about the pieces that are currently on display. It makes for a very unique experience. There is secured parking behind the building and the home is locked by multiple doors. The neighborhood is very busy, safe, and culturally diverse which made for an extremely pleasant backdrop for the trip. Speaking of the neighborhood, Donald has a hand-drawn map to show you to all the local hot spots including restaurants, museums, and parks. We took one of his suggestions for lunch and we were far from disappointed! We only stayed for one night to go to a concern in the city but Donald treated us with just as much attention as he would any other guest, which includes breakfast in the morning! Overall as a host, Donald is very kind and helpful. He’s also a very unique and interesting human being once you get to talking to him. I would definitely here again and likely will for my next visit!

    Billy2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Donald and Colby own an apartment gallery in Pilsen. It is very cool and located on a great part of Chicago. You get to stay in rooms in the gallery. The hosts are fabulous and super knowledgeable. The cost is reasonable and close to public transport. What else can I say? Highly recommended!!!

It's only about an $8 uber ride to practically anywhere including Millennium Park, which is walking distance to many of the great features in the city! The room itself was very clean and just as it looked in the picture and you are left well to your own devices.

  • Crystal was a great host and the place was exactly what I expected. Crystal was very responsive and I had no trouble finding the space. She provided all the amenities and I had a great stay. The place has everything you need and I would recommend this place for solo travelers or couples. The only minor issue was the shower had very slow water flow and the water would go from too hot to cold.

2-bedroom condo located in Chicago's historic Pilsen/Heart of Chicago neighborhood. 10-15 min ride to downtown, 3-5 min walking distance to 18th St & Damen Ave buses, 5 min walk to the CTA Pink Line Train, and a 2 min walk to Harrison Park, the National Mexican Museum of Art, and many of the best taco's in the city. A 15 min walk southwest is the Heart of Chicago - the true “Little Italy”. Get some incredible gnocchi! Come see the culture and diversity that Chicago's Lower West side offers!
We are a small 6 Unit condo building with permit parking in the front (dont worry we have passes for you!) that is all owner occupied. We are centrally located to almost all the major festivals (Union Park, Douglas Park, Grant Park, Adams-Medill etc...)
One of the most authentic and diverse in the city, Pilsen has a melding of Hispanic culture that is full of life. To the East you will find rich street art murals, both fancy and cheap dining, and many independent vintage shops. Not far to the Southwest is the Heart of Chicago - the true 'Little Italy' of the city. There are also 4 breweries nearby: Lagunitas, Lo Rez, Alulu, and Moody Tongue.

  • Jared and Jenna were amazing hosts. They were exceptionally accommodating of our early arrival and were communicative throughout the process to ensure all our needs were taken care of. They had great recommendations about what to do around town and how best to get there. They were immediately responsive during our stay to ensure we were comfortable. 10/10 would stay again!

  • Friendly hosts with lots of good advice for the area, good local transit, fast communication and a lovely apartment! Check out the nearby National Museum of Mexican Art and 18th street.
