It is the highest town in the Cotswold’s at about 800 feet above sea level and was built mainly in the 17th and 18th century after the Battle of Stow - the last battle in the English Civil War, and has witnessed secluded growth and prosperity throughout the Iron, Stone and Bronze Ages. The Cotswolds Wool Town is situated just beside the Roman Fosseway set on a rounded hill giving it the Iron Age meaning of ‘meeting place on the hill’. Cheltenham racecourse is nearby

  • Loraine's place is a charming English cottage in the beautiful Stow on the Wold. The location is very convenient for walking into town and it is a great base for exploring the Cotswolds. Although we didn't meet Loraine, she was very responsive in answering our questions. Overall a great stay and will definitely love to stay again in the future.

  • Such a beautifully decorated and cosy cottage right in the heart of Stow on the Wold. It was very clean and has everything you need. Lorraine left some milk, bread and butter for us which was appreciated. Comfortable beds and very warm cottage on a cold weekend. The log fire was set up for us too which helped. Would recommend for anyone to stay. The walk was less than 5 minutes to the main shops and was convenient having an off road parking space. Not far from pubs, restaurants and shops.

  • The little house at Ruebens Cottage will take your breath away, its such a beautifully converted space, its comfortable, unique and everything is catered for, the hosts are really lovely & friendly and have lots of information about the area should you need it- you wont be disappointed!

    Hayley2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Tucked away in the back garden of the hosts, the 'little house' is the quintessential Cotswolds-style den that we all dreamed about having when we were kids! It's an amazing mini-home from home that has made use of every inch of tastefully decorated space, without losing its intimate charm. Your hosts, Cat and John, are incredibly welcoming and are happy to answer any of your questions and queries or leave you to it once you've settled in, whatever your desire from a host. They are also incredibly generous, leaving a welcome gift of juicy homegrown strawberries and delicious homemade jam! Can't promise you'll get the same during a chilly January stay though! As for the location, everything in Stow is walkable from where you are and if you stay over a weekend, Cat will even point you into a car park you can use for free that is extremely close to the property. So, the little house gets a massive thumbs up from - we would not hesitate to go back if/when we visit Stow again!

Church View apartment is a recently renovated 2 double bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment. It sits in the very centre of the old Cotswold town of Stow on the Wold. It's within walking distance of absolutely everything Stow has to offer, including some amazing restaurants. Come and see what my house has to offer :)
Located just off Stow's market square which has plenty of boutique shops. The apartment accommodates 4 people, it feels like a holiday home being so welcoming, light with very high quality finishings. Bedroom 1 has a double bed, a large built in wardrobe, desk and TV with freeview. Bedroom 2 has a double bed, a large built in wardrobe and desk. Both bedrooms are extremely quiet. The cosy living area has a beautiful view of the famous St Edwards church, a 38 inch flat screen TV, BOSE sound bar and a comfortable sofa with blankets. The kitchen has a modern oven, induction hobs, microwave, premium fridge, all necessary utensils, dishwasher and a dining room table that seats 4. A washing machine is available for you to use. The bathroom has a bath and shower along with a heated towel rail. A velux window and mirrored wall make this my favourite room in the house. An exclusive roof terrace which traps the sun very well in the summer months has an outside table which sleeps 4, a fire pit and a built in bench.
Stow on the Wold is an old market town which revolves around the Market Square. The apartment sits around 15 meters off the Market Square. It's a nice and quiet place but boasts brilliant restaurants, pubs, cafe's and shops.
  • If you are looking for a awesome spot in Stow or to explore the Cotswolds...you can’t go wrong with Laurences’ beautiful flat. Great location, clean, tidy and perfect for two couples to explore the beauty of the Cotswolds.

    Jonathan2018-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wow - what can I say. The apartment was amazing and very tastefully decorated. It’s very clean and everything was supplied! Great outdoor roof garden which would be fab in the summer. Laurence left very detailed instructions on the apartment and surrounding area which were very helpful. The village is a lovely place and easy to walk round. The British Legion is the only place in the village that has Sky Sports! £2 charge for men but the prices are cheaper than the pubs! People are very friendly and the local Indian is great! We had a day trip to Batsford Arboretum and Falconry Centre and visited Moreton-in-Marsh on the way back!

Stow On The Wold, Angleterre, Royaume-Uni

The Crook is a beautiful Grade II listed cottage located in the heart of the market town Stow on the Wold. Sleeping 6 adults and 2 children across 4 bedrooms. The cottage is full of Cotswold Charm: flagstone floors, exposed honey sandstone bricks, old timber beams and wonky floors but modernised to a high contemporary standard with top of the range, well equipped kitchen, wireless internet access, and flat screen televisions.
The house is very old so does have steep stairs, flagstone floors that are not 100% flat, creaky floorboads and some wonky walls. We feel this is part of it's history and charm but this does not appeal to everyone. We would not recommend for anyone with restricted mobility.
Stow on the Wold is a beautiful town, that sits on the top of a hill in the centre of the Cotswolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The thriving market town has an abundance of antique and lifestyle shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes. The House is located at the top of Sheep Street, ideally situated a few minutes’ walk from the main town square, the heart of the town. The house has views onto the back of St Edwards Church, whose bells can also often be heard. The house is a perfect base for touring the wider Cotswold's.
  • Lovely place, great location & excellent communication. Highly recommended

    Alistair2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Crook is amazing - we had a fantastic long weekend for my dad's 70th birthday. It's full of character, a great location and perfect for a cosy long weekend in the countryside. Walking distance from great pubs and local cafes and shops. Our host was extremely helpful and very flexible which made our stay so much better. Extremely comfy beds in all rooms, very well equipped kitchen, excellent heating and lovely cosy log fire in the lounge. Small issues we had were difficulty parking (we had 3 cars so it was a challenge getting them parked close by) and the shower was inconsistent. But I would definitely stay again and recommend it. Thankyou!

    Ant2018-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in this cottage. 5 ladies catching up after a year all together, cooking food, drinking wine and roasting ourselves in front of the fire. We all slept so well in the super comfy beds and there was plenty of room at the kitchen table and in the cosy living room. The outdoor fire in the garden looks lovely, shame we couldn’t use it for all the snow!

  • We had a really fantastic time. Joanna was so responsive and let us check in a little earlier. The house is well located in Stow. We were two families with four children in total and the layout worked well for us. The stairs to the top floor are quite steep though. The house is modern and well equipped with a beautiful log burner. Joanna had left a lovely bottle of wine, flap jacks and milk on arrival which was a lovely touch. All in all an excellent place to stay.

    Clare2018-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a place! Great location, really smart inside and a delight to stay in. Joanna is a very attentive host, replied super quick and provides lots of helpful tips. Will certainly stay there again.

St Antony’s is 20+ meters above the hotel /gastro restaurant ‘The Sheep’ on the other side of the road on sheep st.
  • Very nice and clean, but some noises from the main road

    Denny2018-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • St Antony's is a cute, beautifully presented little cottage with many thoughtful touches. It is perfect for a couple as the downstairs is tiny. It is well situated for all amenities that Stow has to offer and we loved the sweet little courtyard at the back. The bathroom particularly is beautiful! The only downside (which is mentioned in the description of the cottage) is that it sits right on a very busy A road. Traffic noise is present until quite late at night and starts around 5am so should be considered if like me, you are a light sleeper!

    Shelley2018-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely weekend in a lovely spot.

    Sara2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at st antonys cottage. Friendly hosts with lots of thoughtful touches. Cosy cottage and we loved having a fire to warm up after being out in the snow

    Alastair2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • St Antony’s hosted by Catriona and John is a wonderful place. Warm and welcoming with beautiful furnishings and welcoming touches. The location is great; close to the town centre and importantly the great local pubs. We travelled with our two young daughters and found kids books on each of their beds. They loved that. There are stairs to reach each of the bedroom floors but it wasn’t an issue to get suit cases up there. We travelled in Winter and the house was always warm. Summertime would be nice as there is a small courtyard out back with tables and chairs. The beds were all very comfortable and the kitchen equipped with everything you’d need. The lounge actually invites you to sit and relax at the end of the day. Best we’ve encountered. Wish we’d stayed longer.

    Hamish2018-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Cat and John’s cottage was a beautiful stay! In the very heart of Stow on the Wold, beautifully decorated and extremely clean. We loved the log burner in the evening and the beds were extremely comfortable. Cat and John left lots of lovely little touches included cookies, freshly baked bread and jam, milk and juice in the fridge. There is no parking immediately out side the cottage however we could easily pull up outside to in load and with Cat’s advice we easily found pArking close by. Thanks again for a lovely stay R

    Roisin2019-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely, cosy cottage which is surprisingly roomy! Four of us stayed as part of a weekend in the cotswolds, where we were guests at a wedding. Our arrival was slightly later than expected but Catriona and John were very helpful in making sure we had no problem settling in. Our hosts had provided us with a loaf of freshly baked bread, jam, butter, milk and orange juice. They had thought of so many little touches that made our stay so comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast in the outside space and the softest bathrobes imaginable. Highly recommended for both families and friends who want to explore a beautiful part of the country and relax in style and comfort afterwards.

  • Fantastic space with superb accommodations. Great communication with amazing amenities. Such a serene, cozy space that makes it difficult to leave and explore. I can not recommend this place enough. Wishing I would have spent more time in the area just to stay in the cottage.

Located in the north Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold is one of the principal market towns in the region. The main feature of the town is the historic market square which used to play host to the annual sheep fairs where, at the height of the Cotswold wool industry, up to 20,000 sheep were sold at one time. The market square is steeped in history and has two features which date back to the medieval period. At one end of the square there is the medieval cross which was erected to urge traders to carry out fair business under the eyes of God, and at the far end stand the town stocks which are found in the shadows of the old elm tree. Originally known as Edwardstow or Stow St Edward after the town's patron saint Edward, the town's church is also named after him. The church is just 100 yards from the town square and is a lovely place for locals and tourists alike to get some peace from the bustling market square. The north door is guarded by two yew trees and is a focal point of the town. Stow has traditional narrow alleyways, or "tures" as they were once known, which wind their way through the centre of the town. It is these same alleyways that were once used to channel the sheep to the fair. Another point of interest in the town is the well in Well Lane which is now a Grade II Listed Building. As a result of the rather unique geology of the area, water held in the higher layers of the limestone bursts out of various fissures on the slopes and two do still work as wells now.
  • Fantastic location, nice welcoming touches. Highly recommend.

  • Lovely cottage with everything you could need. Very happy there was a Nespresso machine and the welcome cake and bottle of wine was much appreciated! It was lovely and warm when we arrived (which was a welcome relief from the cold rainy weather) and we felt very much at home. Beds super comfy. A little noisy in bedroom near main road but earplugs worked a treat. Would highly recommend this lovely cottage for a retreat in the Cotswolds.

A beautifully restored first floor apartment located in the heart of Stow on the Wold, offering the perfect base to explore the Cotswolds. Exposed beams and vaulted ceilings combined with all the modern amenities you would expect to make your stay as relaxing as possible. Recently renovated and lovingly restored with a mix of original features and modern luxury.
  • Wonderful apartment with everything you could need , right in the heart of Stow and near all of the amenities. There are a few steps and a slightly steep staircase. which you could find awkward if you have mobility issues . The fittings and furniture linen and crockery was top quality. perfect place to stay with a few quirks which make it interesting. Highly recommended. Will be returning. Host very helpful.

    Faye2018-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is so central in Stow on the Wold - about a minute from the Market Square. The bonus for us was the dedicated parking space behind the square as general parking seemed to be an issue with so many visitors. The apartment is well equipped and spotlessly clean. Towels are provided and the shower is excellent. Wifi is also excellent. It is a very old building and therefore a bit quirky especially in layout with steps up to the bathroom and kitchen and one up to the bedroom too. Also has stairs from front door to the living room. This was not an issue for us and we were aware of it before we came as Ian had mentioned it in his communication. We loved the place. Only there for 2 nights as we were in Cotswolds for a wedding but I would not hesitate in using it again. Highly recommended.

    Gill2018-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely apartment in just off the market square, close to shops and places to eat. The apartment is clean and nicely furnished. The stairs up are steep, and there are some low doorways so mind your head. A great quirky place to stay.

Everything was of a extraordinarily high standard and the location was perfect for exploring the Cotswolds , shopping and for gentle walks in the town . Ian was extremely helpful and prompt with all arrangements prior to our arrival. Thank you!

Food & Drink Stow has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: The Queens Head Inn (www.donnington-brewery.com/the_queens_head_stow_on_the_wold): The Queens Head is a traditional town pub, owned by the local Donnington brewery. Here locals mix with tourists who are unsurprisingly attracted into this lovely old pub. Good traditional pub food and ale, in a great atmosphere; The Sheep (www.thesheepstow.co.uk): A seasonal menu with pizzas being a major focus. There is a wood-fired oven in the restaurant, where you can watch your freshly made pizza cook; The Talbot: Laid back drinking, eating and coffees in a traditional meeting place for the town slap bang in the Square. Sofas, original paintings, rickety old tables and chairs, with staff who are under the threat of death if they are not friendly! White Hart (www.thewhitehartstow.com): A 'boutique' style Inn, which has recently been beautifully refurbished throughout. The Inn boasts two cosy bars, lots of open fires and an atmospheric dining room. Hearty food is served during the day, with finer dining in the evening. All food is sourced locally and prepared on the premises; The Bell (www.thebellatstow.com): The Bell at Stow is the perfect country pub. Behind the ivy-clad façade lies a charming, stylish interior with the warmest of welcomes. A favourite with the locals, The Bell is open all day every day offering everything from a pint of well-kept cask ale through to a delicious three-course supper. Friday evenings are legendary for the Champagne Happy Hour at 5pm - grab a seat if you can as the weekend gets off to the perfect start! Stow has a Tesco and a Co-op for regular food purchases and, for special treats, there is a traditional butcher's shop and a number of delicatessens specialising in local produce, including: Lambournes Butchers (www.lambournesbutchers.co.uk): A family owned, multi-award winning traditional butchers, renowned for locally-produced meat, poultry and game, sourced from hand-picked suppliers. Referring to the owner, the BBC's Adam Henson has observed that "what Bob doesn't know about sausages isn't worth knowing"; Cotswold Food Store and Café (www.cotswoldfoodstore.co.uk): The Cotswold Food Store and Café offers a huge variety of delicious local foods, ranging from locally sourced vegetables, meat, eggs and bread to charcuterie, hams and pates in its deli counter. The adjoining café offers freshly prepared meals by resident chef Sonya Kidney, along with home-made cakes, biscuits and light bites; Hamptons Fine Foods (www.hamptons-hampers.co.uk): Hamptons offer a wide range of quality foods to discerning customers. The shelves are packed with exclusive and delicious fine foods that one would not normally find in the mass outlets. A veritable Aladdin's cave. Hamptons specialise in gourmet hampers which can be collected from their shop or delivered direct.

Steps Cottage's front door opens onto the High Street, which is just a few yards from Stow's market square. Entering through the front door, there is a small hallway, which leads into the living room. The main ground floor rooms are: Living/dining room: This large, dual aspect room is the heart of the house, with exposed stone walls, solid beech flooring and a large fireplace, containing a Jotul wood burning stove. Complementing the character features, there is a TV with BT Vision and Freeview, a DVD player and an iPod/iPad/iPhone dock. A quirky Victorian lavatory is also accessed from the utility room; Conservatory: French doors from the living room lead into the simple wooden conservatory, which has double doors leading out into the garden. Wooden stairs lead up from the hallway to the first floor landing, off which is a bedroom and the family bathroom: Bedroom 1: A dual aspect room, with an exposed stone wall and beech floor. Contains two single beds, which can be made up as a super king size bed; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, basin and toilet. The stairs then continue up to the second floor and a further bedroom and sleeping space in the eaves of the house: Sleeping space: Immediately at the top of the stairs, a large landing space contains two single mattresses (each 180cm x 75cm), running lengthways on a raised platform. One or both mattresses could be moved off the raised platform, if this was preferable to the room's occupants. Please note that there is no doorway onto the landing from the stairs, however, there is a fixed stair gate, to safely enclose the room (please see Key Features section for a detailed understanding of the potential bed configurations); Bedroom 3: Accessed via the landing space, this lovely eaves room, with wooden beams and flooring, contains a king size bed. Heading back downstairs and outside, through either the utility room or the conservatory, the large, multi-level garden, which gets the sun all day, is to the rear of the house and contains a mixture of gravelled seating areas, mature plants and bushes, all enclosed by Cotswold stone walls, forming a beautiful sun trap. Despite being in the centre of Stow, the garden is very quiet and tranquil, perfect for both adults and children to relax securely in. There is an outdoor table and chairs for six people (with further seating available in the conservatory). At the end of the garden, above the garage, is the Bolt Hole, built of traditional Cotswold stone, with a modern interior. The Bolt Hole contains: Living room/bedroom/tea point: Contains two sofa beds, a flatscreen Freeview TV and a tea point, with a fridge, microwave, kettle, plus a table, with seating for four; Bedroom 3: Contains two single beds, which can be made up as a super king size bed. Set in the heart of Stow on the Wold, Benfield is a charming Cotswolds' cottage. Bedecked with Virginia Creeper, Benfield is a beautiful period townhouse which offers spacious accommodation spread across three (wonky!) floors, where the owner has created a stylish holiday home yet ensured that all the classic Cotswolds' 19th Century features are retained, making it a truly attractive place to stay. A large open fire, an Aga, beams, flagstone floors, oak beam all create a cosy feel, while modern facilities, luxury beds and bathrooms ensure that this offers high quality self catering accommodation. An enclosed courtyard sits in the middle of the building, bringing light to the kitchen and diner - heavenly! The ground floor is open plan with all rooms interconnecting while upstairs are four beautiful, luxury bedrooms*, almost French in style with two bathrooms. Impossibly cute and homely, we fell in love with this cottage when we visited - and with everything in Stow no more than a stroll away, you really can park the car and not use it again until you leave!

  • This was an extremely well equipped cottage, very well located within two minutes walk of shops, restaurants and cafes. Very well place to explore the wider Cotswolds area and lots of lovely local walks without having to take the car out. We had everything we needed in the cottage - comfortable beds, warm rooms, lovely wood burner and the kitchen was extremely well equipped. Would definitely stay here again if we were visiting the Cotswolds.

  • Fantastic place for staying in the heart of the Cotswolds. With a car there are many things/places to see within 30mins drive. Stow is a beautiful small town, with plenty of shops (particularly for food) within 5 minutes' walk. Lovely, very old house (mind your head!). Aga stove for cooking and nice dining area. The kitchen is extremely well setup with loads of cooking pots and utensils (and, unusually, a really good set of cooking knives). Very cosy and decent-sized lounge, with stove burner in the fireplace. The hosts were very friendly and helpful in the lead-up to staying there, and everything was immaculate when we arrived. Would definitely recommend this place and these hosts.

  • What a perfect hideaway for two! Su and Mike are incredible hosts. My husband and I felt completely welcome in their home. The ensuite bedroom and bath are impeccably designed and decorated, and Su's attention to details gives it the feel of a fine hotel - Chocolates, water, fresh fruit, coffee and tea, fresh towels, not to mention one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on! The bedroom is small, but it was all we needed for a two night stay. We highly recommend.

We have been hosts and guests and all the little touches and extras at The Cottage really make a positive impression. The location of this house is fantastic for both enjoying Stow and the area. Lastly, the bathroom is lovely.

Beds are comfortable, the house is clean, has heating and the kitchen is well equipped to cook some meals if you want to stay indoors. Communication was also good. Wifi was not great as it was only working properly if we stayed near the kitchen.

  • Ashleigh and David are extremely welcoming and enthusiastic hosts. Their Bed and Breakfast has a wonderful homely vibe, we felt right at home straight away. The bed was INCREDIBLY comfortable, we slept like logs (but were knackered from The Big Feastival anyway....). Very central and convenient location in Stow. Ashleigh and David are a fountain of knowledge with recommendations for places to eat and check out. (Great food and atmosphere at The Sheep a little down the road). They really went above and beyond to ensure our stay was as smooth as possible which was great after such a long journey. Can't wait to stay again!

  • What a wonderful stay with Ash and Dave. They have renovated their home with such an eye for detail. It is sophisticated, comfortable and simply delightful. Walking distance to shops and restaurants, in the heart of the Cotswolds. What a pleasure their company is and their advice where to go and what to see. Highly recommend to all.

  • My husband and I have just arrived home after a fantastic weekend in the Cotswolds. This was our first Air Bnb experience and Ash and Dave exceeded our expectations. From the moment we booked, communication was instant and prompt. They recommended some great local pubs and eateries to sample during our stay and their house could not be any more central. The rooms are beautifully decorated as is the rest of their house. Ash and Dave went above and beyond to ensure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. We can’t wait to visit again!!

Oh, and the sheets are SO soft!

The room is set away from the main parts of the house which, in addition to the private bath, added much privacy. John and Cat had many welcoming touches (such as fresh bread, cookies, wine glasses) which made us have a very relaxing stay. I would recommend to anyone!

  • Cottage was well decorated and the kitchen was stocked for cooking. It is in a convenient location but noisy. Service station is just across the street. The cottage was not as clean as we would have liked but house cleaner responded to our most pressing concern.

  • Lovely cottage with very easy access to everywhere in the Cotswolds - a few minutes walk into the town too. Good, private, safe parking.

  • We had a brilliant stay at the cottage. The beds were so comfortable I didn't want to get up! The decor throughout the cottage is beautiful. The only problem we had was that the hot tap in the kitchen was still broken despite a plumber popping in so we were limited when washing up but we did have the dishwasher which was beneficial. The garden was lovely which we managed to use for breakfast one morning as the weather wasn't great over the weekend. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others. Thank you

  • Beautiful cottage and much bigger than we expected. Clean and tastefully modernised. We would 100% recommend, struggling to find a fault. Fresh flowers, chocolates, kitchen packed with everything you could ever need. It was just great from beginning to end.

  • Great place... stayed with family, 2 kids, 2 adults, plenty of room, excellent location in Stow, easy parking. Kitchen facilities all great, bathrooms all good etc... would stay again!

  • My family (two adults and three children ages 8, 10, 12) thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay in Lizzie's cottage. The cottage is spacious, comfortable, charming and within walking distance to shops, pubs, restaurants. Right across the street are a Fish & Chips and a Chinese restaurants so we brought in dinner two nights. The children were so happy in the cottage (board games, WiFi, space to play) that they didn't want to leave to explore the Cotswolds. Lizzie was very responsive and helpful whenever we contacted her. We highly recommend this cottage.

  • Superb location! Beautiful cottage.

  • This is a very cute cottage - Lizzie has thought of everything for your comforts and the location just fabulous - very easy to go out for dinner (2 mins walk to great places) and lots of takeaway options. Stow-on-wold has a lot going on but still retains its charm. There was also some fabulous local walks. This worked well for small children and my Nana.

  • We loved our stay in Stow-on-the-Wold at Lizzie's place. We are a family of mum, dad and four children and the house was perfect for our needs. The house was charming and exactly as presented in the listing. It was a beautiful cottage right in the middle of Stow, full of Cotswold's charm, yet with all of the facilities you could desire. Lizzie could not have been more friendly and helpful in our correspondences with her. I would highly recommend this to other families.

    Nick2016-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzie's cottage is absolutely perfect: warm, cozy, beautifully decorated, pristine clean and in perfect condition. Communication with her was good and fast from the start, checking in and out was truly easy and the town (Stow on the Wold) is charming. There were many restaurants and tea rooms nearby (hello to our friends in the nearby Treebus tearoom, who made the best scones we've ever tasted). We travelled a lot around the Cotswolds and the area was even more beautiful than we'd imagined. A big thanks to Lizzie for having let us enjoy her marvelous house during a perfect long winter weekend!

  • Fantastic apartment right in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold. It was spotlessly clean, really well equipped, with comfy beds and all fittings of a really high standard. Jayne and Sally couldn't have been more welcoming, and the food in their cafe was excellent. A lovely weekend - perfect in every way.

  • This is an outstanding accommodation. I have rated it the highest in all categories. The apartment is finished and maintained to the highest standard - very elegant and well-appointed. It is located in the heart of the town, steps away from shops and restaurants. It is above one of the best and most popular of those restaurants, which is entirely an advantage. Potential guests should have no concern about noise from the restaurant - the sound-proofing is completely effective. Access is through the restaurant's patio and up a flight of metal stairs, but this posed no problem. The hosts are gracious and helpful. My husband and I have stayed in various accommodations in Stow over the past 20 years and although all have been pleasant this was the best.

    Carolyn2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Upon arrival we were greeted with some delicious scones which was a lovely unexpected gesture. The apartment was super clean and very stylish with all the amenities we needed for our short stay. Nice touches with the White Company towels and amazing hand washes - definitely a luxurious feel. The beds were so comfy so perfect for a good night’s sleep after a day of walking! Perfect location, right in the centre. Thanks for a lovely long weekend!

    Mala2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Hive is a beautiful property that we loved staying in. It was clean, modern, well laid out with three bathrooms (one a powder room) and was toasty warm our whole stay. We loved the heated floors in the bathrooms, the gas fire, the electric blinds and windows and the ease of everything in the apartment. The only inconvenience was carrying luggage up the stairs from the entry gate downstairs but this was also manageable for us. We were surprised to find that while we were in Stow on the Wold, almost the whole town shut down while the biannual visit from some gypsies occurred. The “horse fair”. Aside from a quick glimpse at their camp from the road as we drove by, we didn’t really see the gypsies. But it was disappointing that the whole town was closed (restaurants, shops etc). I would recommend double checking whether this event is on before booking for Stow in the Wold in both October and March when they also come.

    Vara2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • My experience at this Airbnb far exceeded my expectations. The location is right in the center of town. The place has heated floors, many wood beams and skylights with automatic blinds for a total black out experience if you want to sleep in. The decoration is immaculate. The owners have really put a lot of thoughts into this place. I really felt very pampered and relaxed after a long day of traveling!

    Ashley2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Spectacular flat in a perfect location. Jayne (the owner) was delightful (welcomed us with a bottle of prosecco) and we absolutely loved our stay. Very luxuriously furnished and super well equipped kitchen. We didn't really cook though as there are so many excellent restaurants within a five-minute walk. We would definitely stay again. Just one word of caution: it is great to have a private parking space but you'll need to have patience while backing in, especially if you're not used to a right-hand drive car. Well worth it though! We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the flat is. We were only two but two couples would be very comfortable. Layout of bathrooms is great (total of three WCs)

    John Mark2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • In 6+ years of living and traveling abroad, The Hive was the best apartment we have ever booked. It is in magnificent condition and extremely well decorated and appointed. It is situated above a charming and welcoming coffee bar/restaurant making the location just about ideal. We couldn't say enough positive things about the apartment - it is simply perfect!

  • A really lovely and quaint cottage located close to the main high Street of Stowe on the Wold. Nicky has thought of all of the fine details for your stay, basic kitchen items- foil, cling film etc, Nespresso machine for great coffee in the morning, hair dryer and even hair straightener- which I was thrilled to find. All in all a perfect, cost retreat for your holiday in the Cotswolds.

  • I stayed for 4 nights with my wife and 5 month old son. The cottage was perfect, it was clean, comfortable and a home from home. We explored lots of the Cotswold and managed to not drive more than 40 miles away. The cottage is 5 minutes walk from the centre of Stow. The building is old and could get chilly but the heating was good and quickly warmed the whole house. Lovely place. 100% would recommend.

  • Gorgeous cottage and a short walk from some great restaurants.

  • Nicky’s place couldn’t be better for exploring the Cotswolds from. It is so close to Stow town square and great walks that we didn’t use the car for the first day. All the restaurants are good and the long term free parking at Tescos is an unexpected bonus. The cottage is delightful and very comfortable with thoughtful amenities. Definitely intend to be back!

    Lewis2019-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great cottage! Clean, comfortable, and super-cute! We really appreciated the welcome fruit, wine, and croissants after our long journey. And there was coffee and milk too!! Nicky is a very thoughtful host! Also, I really appreciated the hair dryer and hair straightener (as we are from the States and hair appliances can be “tricky” even with an electricity converter)... so, thank you for making me “presentable” to the world. :) Back to the cottage: So close to the center of Stow, but off a bit so it was very quiet. And, we ate all our home-cooked meals outside on the patio next to the lovely flowering rosemary bush with our new friends, the honey bees. Honeybee Cottage is such a treat!

  • I booked this as a weekend getaway for my sister and mum, over the long Easter bank holiday weekend. The cottage is an absolute gem, perfectly furnished, ample space for the three of us, and a lovely little patio/garden area! Our hosts Steve and Nicala were excellent with communication. The added touches they added the bottle of wine and cake was an absolute treat, and the pint of milk in the fridge so very thoughtful. The location of the cottage is an added bonus, very close to the local restaurants and tearooms and the town centre. We explored the local area on our first day, a lovely little market town. There are so many iconic places/landmarks within a driveable distance: Arboretum which was stunning, Broadway tower, Hailes Abbey and Sudeley Castle to name a few of the places we visited. Definitely would recommend this beautiful, perfectly located cottage.

  • We had a wonderful time in Amber Cottage. Everything was thought of and some lovely extras too. The location is ideal for walking into Stow. We had excellent communication with Steve and Nicala and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend this house to stay in.

    Elspeth2018-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Amber Cottage was just as described - lovely. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt right at home . Nicala and Steve were very helpful in giving directions to the cottage and where to eat and what to see in the area. And the neighborhood was great. We could walk everywhere in this charming town. Just a couple of suggestions that would make it perfect: instructions about how things work and how you want us to leave the cottage would be especially helpful for guests from abroad. And the kitchen needs more lighting - it was hard to clean up at night!

At nearly 800 feet, Stow is the highest of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds towns and famous as a centre for antiques. The town radiates from the impressive market square, surrounded by Cotswold stone buildings. There is a good selection of specialist shops, cosy cafés and inns to enjoy. Stow has a fascinating history, with the market square once host to some of the Cotswolds’ largest sheep fairs, with up to 20,000 sheep herded into the square for sale. The medieval Market Cross and the old stocks give a sense of Stow’s early history. Stow had a significant role in the English Civil War – it was at nearby Donnington that the last battle was fought in 1646. St Edward’s Church was used as a prison for the defeated Royalist troops and is well worth a visit. Stow is also home to England’s oldest inn, The Porch House, as well as a great choice of other places to eat in the town.

It was right off the Main Street! Walking distance to everything! Cute little porch to sit and enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of tea. Martin was very responsive to my emails. Very helpful.

  • We had a lovely stay in Stow. The house is excellently located right in the centre and very easy to get to. The owners were very accommodating and helpful and made our stay very easy. The house is very well equipped with cooking facilities and we had a very comfortable stay. Very suitable for families with children, we had a 6 month old in our party. Would recommend.

  • Teagles Cottage is perfect for a reasonable sized party to operate from. Located within easy access to Stow’s main square with all the tea rooms and pubs in has to offer. As our visit was in winter the lack of a garden was definitely not an issue and I can see the cottage being a suitable location to do some pretty decent walks from. All in all a lovely cottage!!!

  • Lovely house. Very clean and tidy and great provisions. Fab location. Nothing negative to say. We were three women on a friends weekend and appreciated a bedroom each and fantastic facilities. If there were 6 people there I think it could be squeezed in the living space. But we loved it. Thank you Katrina and for the walk you wrote out for us. Was perfect! X

  • Very clean; very comfortable. Lived this place!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Katrina's house. Very cosy home in a beautiful Cotswold village. Katrina was a great host and responded quickly to our enquiries

  • A lovely place that felt like being at home, a very spacious house with all rooms/bedrooms more than adequate. All rooms and bathrooms were spotless with water, milk, cereal, teas provided. We didn't get a chance to use it but a really nice conservatory & garden area too. Katrina was in touch from booking until check in and available to answer any questions. Definitely recommend this place if you are in Stow.

  • This is my first airbnb reservation and Katrina has set the bar so high! First, the host - Any queries were quickly answered and she was there within minutes to resolve a slight hiccup on arrival. And I really appreciate that when I needed help with something, she went over and above what I asked for. Next, the house - it’s equipped with everything to make our stay comfortable and we love the decor. The photos on the site could not adequately capture how nicely decorated the cottage is. All in all, a great stay and I would highly recommend Cathie’s house.

  • Very homely house set right in the middle of town. Everything we needed to was a short walk away and there are lots of great places to eat just across the road. Great base if your looking to explore the area or just want to have a relaxed get away.

Absolut empfehlenswert! Das Zimmer ist klein aber fein!

  • Ashleigh has a great place in a brilliant location. It was spotlessly clean and they are wonderful hosts, with excellent communication pre-visit and great little touches on arrival, which went above and beyond expectations.

  • Ashleigh and Dave were so accommodating to myself, husband and baby, and my parents. We felt very looked after, they went out of their way to help make our stay comfortable and were so friendly and welcoming to all of us. The rooms were very clean and stylish and the bed was very comfortable. Location was unbeatable! Many thanks for a lovely stay.

  • We had a lovely time. The room was decorated to a high standard, the bedding was really comfortable and from The White Co. The hosts were really welcoming and friendly, they even gave us a lift down to where we were attending a wedding. Would highly recommend. We hope to return. Thanks for the carrot cake on departure, it was lovely.

  • Outstanding! We stayed at the Stow House for 2 nights while traveling north through the UK. The location of the house is right in downtown Stow on the Wold and within walking distance to many great restaurants, pubs, shops and a Co-op mini grocery mart (there is also a Super Tesco not far down the road). There is free parking on the street. Dave was truly a super host (unfortunately we didn’t get to meet Ashleigh). He met us for check in, showed us around, and gave us some Local tips for walking to the Slaughters and Bourton. The room was extremely clean and well decorated. The bed was awesome- very comfortable! En suite bathroom was very clean- big tub under a sky light and crazy strong water pressure! Muffins were offered to us in the morning, and coffee/tea is available in the room. Dave also dropped off milk for us each morning. We would 100% stay there again and HIGHLY recommend staying there!
