STR REG# 2018-3261. This apartment is close to all the action of downtown (7 minute walk), the Old Port (15 minute walk). Deering Oaks Park is one block away. Please note it SHARES A BATHROOM with the adjacent unit. It is very close to all the wonderful restaurants, breweries and bars of Portland. The building does sit next to a light industrial urban area, there is a less 'salubrious' area 2 blocks east, which is easily avoided, and this is Portland, you will see 'street characters'..
This is a studio apartment with its own private access door but with a SHARED BATHROOM. You have a large bedroom area with TV, WiFi, Netflix and Hulu streaming and a dining area set up in the bay window. It is a ground floor level apartment and for this reason I have frosted the windows for privacy. The bedroom area has air conditioning and we suggest putting this on at night (even if it is on fan only) as this will mitigate any outside noises from traffic and voices. The street is generally quiet at night. The bathroom is accessed through a hallway, so you have your own lockable door, a hallway and the opposing apartments lockable door to separate the private areas. This is an old building and nothing is really level/square. Noises can travel and for that reason we request that guests please enter and exit quietly and please be aware of those below you.
This neighborhood (West Bayside) is undergoing strong gentrification. There are several great restaurants less than a minutes walk from the front door (Isa, American Bayside Cafe, Back Bay Grill) and Food Fork Lab, 2 buildings down. There are also several breweries close by, such as Rising Tide. However, the building borders a light industrial neighborhood and sits behind the main post office. It is an urban environment, not a tree lined residential street. The area 2 blocks east is best to avoid, you are safe but it doesn't look pretty. It is easily avoided by accessing downtown Portland via Forest Avenue. Deering Oaks Park is a beautiful park that is only one block west, and has a great Farmers Market at the weekend. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods a quick 2 minute car ride or 6 minute walk away. The building is minutes away from everything, but this being Portland, you will see 'street characters' in our neighborhood.
  • The place was really great! Awesome location, walking distance to anything you could imagine! Christine was super quick to respond to any of our questions and easy to get in touch with. We liked the lock/code system so we were able to check/check out at our own convenience. I thought I would feel awkward with the shared bathroom, but it was actually no problem at all! It was right outside our door; we never ran into another guest using it. Parking was a litttle bit of a challenge. There were streets nearby with parking but they were all marked two hour parking so we ended up keeping our car in a garage for most of the stay. However, it's parking in a city, it's pretty much the norm. Would definitely recommend this place and stay here again!

    Hanna2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's flat is well maintained, but the area is a little sketchy. It was a little further out than we expected/ realized. Christine was really responsive.

  • Christine's plane was exactly as described - great location, easy walk to the Old Port. Her detailed directions made everything easy to get into. We greatly enjoyed our stay! And for a warm Portland night we were glad to have the window a/c unit.

    Kaitlyn2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's accommodations were as shown on the picutres; it was clean and in a great location. Very near to many downtown bars and restaurants. Check in was easy, no hassle.

  • Great place to stay. Short walk to the core of Portland. Would stay here again.

    Brian2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Christine was great at communicating and gave us lots of info before our stay. She was very accommodating to our schedule. The space was great, very cute! Perfect for couples or solo travelers. Just a short walk to the downtown area.

    Heather2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute apartment and great central location!

    Marie2017-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • It is definitely in the rough part of town. My friend and I walked home around 8pm one night and felt pretty unsafe but if you just Uber from the main street then it is a great value. Otherwise it was perfect for our weekend trip to Portland.

Cozy efficiency in solid brick building close to all in town amenities, located in a transitional but trendy Bayside neighborhood.. sort of like Brooklyn 20 years ago thus transitional, but super safe and super close to all downtown/Old Port amenities! Efficiency has no kitchen, but there is a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Private entrance/private bathroom.
Cozy efficiency in solid brick building close to all in town amenities, located in transitional but trendy Bayside neighborhood. Efficiency has no kitchen, but there is a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The Bayside neighborhood in full disclosure is considered slightly edgy, but up and coming for sure and as close to downtown as any neighborhood in Portland. It is extremely safe and as a working professional I love living in this location. It is busy location during the day with the city works close by, but a ghost town at night thus generally quiet after 5. Yes.. the bus is less than a block away, the train about a mile or so and the airport less than 15 minute drive! Check in is generally around 3 and check out is 11. There can be some flexibility depending on availability. please ask in advance

  • This place was great. 10 minute walk from the main part of town and close enough to walk to some of the cool places outside of the old city (like breweries, UFF, etc.). The place was clean and perfect for people looking to stay somewhere for a low price and have a nice comfortable place to rest and get ready for exploring the city. Would definitely recommend this place to any single travelers or couples looking to check out Portland.

  • Wonderful little spot for easy access to the city of Portland. Apartment had all I needed for an easy stay and John was very helpful in staying in touch and supplying any advice needed. Will definitely use his location when next I return. Apartment is as advertised and the walk should take no more than 10-15 minutes to reach the bustling wharf shopping/eating area. I even made my way to Hadlock Field and caught a Sea Dogs game on foot!

    Anthony2014-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Since I was on a short trip, this accommodation was perfect for me. I didn’t stay long but all necessities were essentially there. The location was also ideal given the short walk to the bar, pizzeria, Trader Joe’s, gas station and so on. I really liked staying here, the room itself was tidy, cozy and safe. I definitely recommend for anyone who’s on a short trip to Portland.

Walking distance to all that Portland has to offer. Clean and easy to access apartment on the 3rd floor of a great building. Located in the trendy Bayside neighborhood.. sort of like Brooklyn 20 years ago thus transitional, but super safe and super close to all downtown/Old Port amenities!
2 bedrooms both with queen size beds, full kitchen , bathroom, and small living room!!
The Bayside neighborhood in full disclosure is transitional, but it is as close to the Old Port/downtown as anywhere and we have never had any safety issues at all - Trader Joe's, Back Bay Grill, Bintliffs, Bayside Bowl and a fantastic Flea Market (Flea-for-all) all within 2 to 3 blocks also!
  • John's place was just as described. It was clean and had everything we needed for a quick one night stop in Portland. Parking, check in and communicating with John was all a breeze. The location of the apartment was within walking distance of most things. As John noted in the description, the apartment is on the fringe of the surrounding nicer neighborhoods, but we never felt unsafe and had no issues at all.

    Adam2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great - we were visiting during a big snowstorm so we spent plenty of time in the apartment. The rooms were large, clean, and had everything we needed. Amazing bars and restaurants within walking distance, great parking. Hosts were very responsive.

    Jenna2017-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The unit was nice and spacious for our three-guest group. It is a full apartment unit with two bedrooms! Everything was clean and well stocked (extra shampoos and soaps for each guest was a nice touch). Close as advertised to downtown. The key we were given did not work in the front door lock (luckily another guest let us into the building) and we were told upon check out that the lock had been changed and we were given the old key. It worked out in the end, but could have been problematic--we should have given it a test when we checked in.

    Erica2016-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • John's place was as advertised - great location, quiet street with no issues. The apartment itself was nothing too cozy (and as others have mentioned doesn't have a great common area if you are hoping to hang out with a group), but was just right for our one night stay with our son to see Portland.

    Kelsey2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This property location is great. Within walking distance to everything you want to see and do in Portland while sleeping in a quiet neighborhood. Definitely an up and coming neighborhood. Has a grocery store, Trade Joe's and drug store within a short walk. A great gem of a bistro - ISA Bistro - within one block. Food, service and atmosphere was excellent. Down the street is a fun roof-top bar.

  • Fabulous close-in location, easy walk to incredible restaurants, great value!

    Jane2016-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was great. The location was perfect! The apartment was very clean and well kept. John was very accessible for any questions that we had. Overall, a very great place to stay!

    Kim2016-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was just as advertised. Very close to everything you'd want to do in town. The 'transitional' neighborhood is just that. There is a city works facility next door and there was street repair going on in the morning, but it was not a negative as the nature of the area was clear in the listing. There is nothing about the neighborhood that felt unsafe. There are only 2 parking spaces for the building. The signs for street parking are a little confusing, but we quickly figured out that you can park pretty much anywhere on the street. The cleaning staff was in the unit when we got there and were extremely friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed and that someone would be available by phone if we needed anything. Overall a very positive experience.

A simple, clean unit hidden in the heart of Bayside, Portlands most up and coming neighborhood!. IN FULL DISCLOSURE the property is very close to the homeless shelter thus a lot of people wander the street at times during the day but it is safe and generally quiet at night! It is completely safe though and just 2 blocks from Congress Street/Arts District and a 10 minute walk to the Old Port. Within a block are many great restaurants
The neighborhood is safe but very transitional with a lot of people wandering the street at times during the day.
  • Great location in downtown Portland, 5 minute drive down to the wharf and surrounding shops. Sparkling clean when we arrived and included anything we might have forgotten - toothbrushes, shampoo, towels, etc. The thoughtful addition of a space heater saved us when it got a little more chilly in the middle of the night. No kitchen but there was a microwave, fridge, glasses, and even a keurig machine! Honestly, the perfect, cozy weekend getaway that my boyfriend and I needed this winter. Loved Portland, probably one of my favorite trips of all time. John the owner also owns and operates the most charming oyster bar right next to the airbnb. Had the chance to meet him and he even gave us a little oyster lesson! (Was our first time trying oysters.) So sweet. Will definitely try and book with him again when the weather turns warmer. Thank you, John!

First floor back apartment in convenient bayside neighborhood
We are located in a transitional neighborhood, there is a homeless shelter and soup kitchen near by! Our bayside police are on foot, bicycle and vehicles keeping their eyes on things!
  • Missy is a friendly and gracious host. Easy to communicate with and answered all our questions in a timely manner. Her studio is spacious and lots of light. The best part is the location. Easy walking distance to the sights and sounds of the old port area. complete kitchen, with coffee maker and full sized fridge. Nice deck, lots of natural lights, and windows look out to the backyard. Recommended!

  • Very cozy apartment. Comes with all the amenities you could ask for, including a TV and coffee maker. Very convenient location, walking distance to downtown Portland and the warf. It is a 10 minute Uber from the bus station. Would recommend!!

  • Great location, but quite small and showing its age. Still perfectly serviceable place though. If you're tall, you'll have a problem with the shower! I'm 5'7" and the shower head was only a few inches above my head.

    Rose2019-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location and well-priced! The apartment itself is very clean and comfortable.

    Catherine2018-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very central apartment, warm and easy to access. It is posible to park overnight on the street just outside, however just 1 hour between 9 am and 5 pm. The apartment was dirty in the corners and smelled of smoke when we were there.

    Lars2019-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a good place for the price. Unfortunately when we arrived the tv didn’t work. Luckily we didn’t need to use it, but there was some difficulty in communicating with Missy. She brought us a new hdmi but if we wanted to use it we would have had to plug in a portable battery to power it. Probably don’t expect a tv if you stay here. Other than that minor issue, everything else was fine. Not in an amazing part of town but close enough to walk into downtown. The bed is super comfortable and can fit two people. Would recommend if you just need a good place to shower and sleep while in Portland.

    Kayla2019-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and please be aware of the area that this is in. As posted there is a homeless shelter near by with people roaming the surrounding neighborhood. I did see cops keeping an eye on things and never had any issues.

    Caralyn2019-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Listed as no smoking, however smelled like smoke in blankets, was told there was street parking, if not could park in driveway by knocking on neighbors doors (?) and then was told by neighbors that Melissa was told before that this was not acceptable, so we ended up with a parking ticket. Only 1 pan provided, and oven was filthy.....towels had black hair in them. NEVER again!

Our home is near parks, nightlife, hospitals and the city center but located in a quiet neighborhood. You can walk to everything. It's very small, but quiet and has a separate entrance. If you want to socialize with us you can, but you also have privacy too. The house was built in 1894, so the room/ bathroom are older and reflect that. Many guests ask about off-street parking. We have it available for 5$ per night in a nearby lot.
Full size bed. Very comfortable double bed. The room is small!! Electric heaters are available for your use to supplement the heat. Did I say the room was small? Its small but really comfortable.
The West End is primarily residential, with apartments and single family homes. It is very safe. There are nearby convenience stores, markets and laundry mats. The hospitals are both a ten minute walk away.

Well lit, large room with an extra futon (second bed) in a cozy old-fashioned Maine duplex with your own private entry. The queen size bed, plush with 800 (or more) thread count sheets, a down comforter and cozy pillows will prove to be comfortable. The room has a private bath with a tile shower, refrigerator, microwave and coffee/tea. We provide towels, hi-speed wifi and small speakers for music. We are an easy walk to everything, and we offer our driveway for parking.
(Please read my entire listing as it will answer most, if not, all questions you may have. It will also help you decide if what I have to offer will meet your expectations and needs so you can have an amazing stay here in Portland) Hi, I'm Christine. I'm here to help you have an enjoyable stay at my home. But, also, I have made my Airbnb as self-sufficient as possible in case I'm off doing unpredictable life & mom things. I don't want my busy schedule to hinder any of your plans. As much as I would love to meet all of my guests, I may not be able to. (Do know, I will always be reachable by phone or text and would love to help in any way I can) My place is right in Portland and you can literally walk to most, (if not all) desired locations. It is a two story duplex that I have converted into a home for my family with a designated Airbnb area. To ensure privacy, my family stays in an area that is totally separate and secure from the Airbnb space. I have a dog (Harriet) and she will bark. Even though she is friendly, you will not have direct contact with her. My house is not modern. In fact, it is well over 100 years old. Calling it a "fixer-upper" is a bit harsh, but it does need some special love and attention. As much as I am very serious about making these upgrades happen, it has been a slow process. Take comfort in knowing that I have prioritized the Airbnb space and its the best room in the house! I am proud to have made it into a unique/comfortable/clean and cozy little Spot for my guests. (I intend to use my Airbnb revenue as a means to make such improvements to the rest of my home) I love my neighborhood. Back Bay Grill, Bayside Bowl, Bubba's, (voted best dance club) Isa and American Bayside Grill are primo hot spots within a block of my house. We are a short walk to The Museum of Art, Nickelodeon, the Old Port, (waterfront) Trader Joe's, Whole Foods Market, Deering Oaks Park and some of the nations most highly regarded microbrew pubs. On the downside, there is a resource center a few blocks from my house. You may encounter homeless people who may/may not be under the influence of drugs/alcohol. The area can easily be avoided by foot and/or by car. I provide a map that clearly shows where the resource center is and how to best avoid it. (if you choose) Please take comfort in knowing, I have lived in my neighborhood for 15 years and I feel safe in my home, and I would never have an Airbnb if this were not the case. Also, we are less than 2 minutes off the 295 highway, so traveling north or south of the city will be as easy as it gets with minimal city driving. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MY PLACE: Q: When can I check in or check out? A: I will try to accommodate your desired check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. Note that early check ins are not always possible if I have a guest leaving that morning, as I need time to have the room cleaned for you. Q: Will I have a key? Can I come and go as I please? And, where do I leave the key when I leave. A: Yes, yes and leave the key in the room.
Parris street is a little two-way street right in the heart of downtown Portland, in the most diverse area of the state. Online maps measure distances in feet to the most celebrated and award winning restaurants and night spots. We are located just blocks from Portlands highly touted art district with the Portland Museum of Art within ten minutes on foot. My family has lived in the neighborhood for over a decade. We feel safe in our home and have never had an incident where someone even tried to break in.
  • Très bon accueil. Logement proximité Centre Ville. Ambiance babacool pour nous trop.

5 minute walk to Congress square. 10 minutes to the Old Port, [walk time- tested with two unfocused dogs]. We are very centrally located on the Portland peninsula. 5 to 10 minute walk, to all Portland has to offer; restaurants, galleries, parks, shops, and two farmers markets. Just a few short blocks from the State Theater, Portland Museum of Art, Portland Stage Company, Art's district, Old Port area, and Congress Square. 15 minutes to Commercial Street.
Two bedroom, first floor apartment in owner occupied brick 1848, Ira Brett Greek Revival home with period details. Private entrance on side of house- with only one step into the apartment. Two bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed, one full sized bed, each with quality linens. Apartment also has one roll out single bed with memory foam mattress. Spacious and comfortable living room, original wood floors, oriental rugs, black marble fireplace (non-functional), Wi-Fi [with modem in apartment], Dish satellite tv, air-conditioning in summer months in each bedroom. Eat in kitchen; microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, oven and stovetop, coffee maker, snacks, coffee. Older style stackable washer/dryer, iron and ironing board. Bathroom with oversized shower, plenty of fresh towels, and toiletries.
Our neighborhood is a vibrant, transitional neighborhood- home to professionals, artists, self employed, unemployed and homeless individuals. My husband and I have enjoyed living here for over 15 years. Businesses located in our neighborhood include: Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Bayside Bowl, the Food Lab, Architectural Salvage, Isa- (a wonderful neighborhood bistro), Bayside American Café ( a great spot for breakfast), and Back Bay Grill- (fine dining and a Portland institution). There is a resource center located 3 bocks away- that serves homeless individuals and others in need.
  • Best Airbnb experience yet. Beautiful historic space with tastefully understated period furniture, wonderful rugs, great eclectic art, really comfortable beds, great shower, yummy stocked kitchen (wine, craft beer, amazing cookies from Standard Bakery, and, well, snack sizes of Cheetos and Fritos when nothing else will do). Perfect location. Great hosts. Terrific home base in walking distance to the best of Portland. We'll be back!

  • This was the perfect place for my wife and adult son to spend a weekend in Portland. We left the car parked all weekend and we managed the town on foot without issue. Tom and Carolyn are terrific hosts and are very generous with the goodies they provided (beer, wine and snacks). Their place was comfortable, clean and inviting and will go back again without hesitation.

  • We stayed here with our two boys, ages 8 and 11. Although only two beds, there is a comfortable fold up cot in one room that my 11-year old happily slept on. After an unexpectedly long drive up from NYC all of us were thrilled to find the little bags of chips and (for the adults) cold, local beer in the fridge! And make sure to check the freezer for a frozen peppermint patty! The apartment was comfortable and a very convenient location, walkable to the Old Port area, Congress St and more. Overall, it was easy to be here and was a good place to crash after a full day exploring.

    Clare2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Carolyn's place. The check-in process was easy and they even allowed us to arrive early. The apartment was within walking distance to all of downtown. The amenities provided were very generous and the entire place was extremely clean. I have been telling all my friends they need to visit Portland, Maine and would absolutely recommend them to stay here.

    Hannah2018-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • This little retreat was the perfect place for us to get away from NYC and enjoy Portland. The garden was beautiful and perfect for our baby and the dogs and the home itself was very cozy and comfortable. Great hospitality too. We had a fantastic stay.

Try a Moxie, the official soft drink of Maine or brew a cup of locally roasted coffee from Coffee By Design. An assortment of tea and breakfast items is also provided for you! The cozy tv and reading room has a selection of books about Maine or by Maine authors in addition to a 24" flat screen tv. Network channels are available over the air and there is a Roku with Hulu Plus. The unit has it's own modem which is located in this room. The bathroom, with a full-tub and shower, is located UPSTAIRS and is fully stocked with towels, toiletries and a hair dryer. The upstairs bedroom features a full size, extra thick inner spring mattress with an egg crate foam topper. The downstairs bedroom has a 10" queen size combination foam and Conforma Coil mattress. Both bedrooms have air conditioners. Since this is a 160+ year old house, be aware that the stairs may be steeper, and the stairway itself narrower, than in a more modern building. Bayside is one of Portland's emerging and popular areas on the peninsula. It's not a quiet suburb, houses here are quite close together and you'll hear normal city traffic and neighborhood residents. We are located on the edge of the Arts District (don't miss the Friday Art Walk!) within walking distance of all of Portland's hot spots-both uptown and in the Old Port. New business, including a whiskey bar & a brewery, are soon to join Chipolte, The Fork Food Lab, Trader Joe's, Eastern Mountain Sports, Quest Fitness Cycle and others. Within a 3 block area, you'll find some of the city's finest dining establishments: Back Bay Grill, Isa bistro and brunch favorite Bayside American Cafe to the West. Yet, just down the street, to the East, the Preble Street Resource Center and Soup Kitchen serve Portland's large population of homeless persons and others in need. A throwback from the founding years of the industrial area of the area, E. Perry Iron & Metal Scrap Yard (est. 1896) sits across the street from Whole Foods. This diverse area is in transition and we who live here are excited to see what will come.

    Gaëtan2016-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Loved staying at Hilda's. I highly recommend it. The location worked great for us. We walked down to the Olde Port and also into downtown where we found some great spots for food (Nosh exceeded all expectations!). We also had or car, so it was great to have a parking spot- we mostly used this on our lay day to stop around town for the goodies we planned to take home. The home itself has everything you need. Hilda has a guestbook with tons of info. She knew we were arriving late, so she pulled out late night food spots and coffee joints for the morning. Very thoughtful. One caveat if you have trouble with stairs- the bathroom is upstairs along with one bedroom. The other bedroom is on the main level. We were fine with it! Clean, comfortable, AC available, very clean shower, tons of towels-- everything only need and want. Thanks again!

  • Great little abode for my fiancé and another couple for the night. We were in town for a work party and it suited our needs for a quick overnight trip. Hilda was very responsive and her place was very clean, eclectic and comfortable. One pointer is that because the heating is older, the air was extremely dry in the morning so most make sure to drink lots of water!

A quiet, beautifully lit, sanctuary in the middle of Portland's peninsula. The Art Studio is on the ground floor of a 100 year old church. It's previous use was as a painter's studio and there is still some paint on the radiant heat, polished, concrete floor. The room is full of art by Maine artists. Your host is an artist and makes the rest of the building his home and work space. For the use of guest and pets there is a small, fenced yard accessible from the rental.
Park your car because you won't need it. In minutes you can to walk to the many restaurants and bars as well as brewery and distillery tasting rooms. Less than 20 minute walk to the Portland Museum of Art, Portland Stage Company, and the State Theater through the center of the downtown. And you'll be only one block from Portland's historic performing arts facility Merrill Auditorium. My listing is pet friendly, but if you have more than one pet you need to provide more information and an additional security deposit may be required.
  • Perfect if you are looking for the full Portland experience!

  • This is one of my favorite AirBnb experiences yet!! Jay is a great host- easy to communicate with and very accommodating to our late arrival (key boxes are the best). The apartment has so much character and is huge! I loved all of the art on the walls and Jay said soon he will be rotating the art and it will be for sale! So sad this wasn't the case this time around as I loved every piece and all the decor. It was walking distance to everywhere we needed to go and only got an Uber twice (planning and timing constraints- could have easily walked distance-wise). Definitely will stay here again if ever back in Portland! Fabulous spot on earth!!

    Alexandra2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jay's place is comfortable and full of interesting artwork. We sat on the private outdoor space and drank our morning coffee. Located about 4 blocks from the waterfront and less than a block to a great coffee place. Jay is friendly and a great host. Thanks, we will recommend to our friends and family.

  • A pleasant studio with nice artwork. A six block walk to downtown restaurants, a little further to the wharf. Great coffee/pastry shop a half block away. Whole Foods two blocks away, if you want to eat in the apartment.

  • The queen size bed was wonderfully comfortable, and the apartment was well heated from the radiant heat in the floor. Everything was clean and inviting when we arrived. Schnitzel, our miniature dachshund loved the warm floor and really enjoyed the long walks we took around Portland. All was very close for our walks and fortunately the weather was great.

  • We had an absolutely amazing stay in Jay's studio apartment. Not only was it remarkably clean and stylish, but it was walking distance to countless bars, shops, and amazing restaurants! Despite being so close to everything, it is on a quiet and secluded side street, making this studio apartment the ideal location for us, a young couple looking to explore Portland and take in the night life while still being able to get a good night's sleep! Thanks, Jay!

All are welcome in this comfortable, clean studio apartment located in the middle of Portland's exciting Arts District. Tastefully decorated and fully appointed for long or short stays, this studio is located where everything fun is just steps outside the door. 2019 City of Portland registration STHR 000847
Enjoy being in the center of the action in the heart of Portland's Arts District. This newly furnished spacious studio is great for couples, solo adventurers and business travelers. Walk to just about everything Portland has to offer including museums, restaurants, shopping and the Old Port. Drive to many beaches in 15-20 minutes. For your comfort we provide quality linens, towels, hand soap and body wash. Blackout shades and a white noise machine will ensure a peaceful sleep in the city. A fully-appointed kitchen with plenty of barware, cookware, coffee, tea, sugar, and creamer will allow you to feel at home and able to eat in if you choose. Two closets are provided for your items. We have convenient, safe and free parking for one car just a block away. Most guests park their cars and don't drive again until they leave because one can walk most anywhere on the Portland Peninsula from the studio. There is also plenty of public transportation.
The Arts District is the best place to stay in all of Portland! Walk anywhere on the peninsula or just step out your door and find yourself in the middle of the finest galleries, live music and dining Portland has to offer. Just a few blocks from the waterfront, this section of Congress Street is lined with art galleries, antique shops, and artist studios as well as the Portland Museum of Art, the Institute of Contemporary Art at MECA, the Center for Cultural Exchange, the State Theater, the Portland Stage Company, the Center for Maine History and more. Several music venues offer live music in the Arts District : Blue, 650 Congress Street: A jazz club with every Saturday dedicated to the genre and live music nearly every night of the week ranging from open mic to Irish session. Tapas and a good wine selection. Empire, 575 Congress Street: Eat at Empire Chinese Kitchen before heading upstairs to see a show. Local and national acts pass through this small club, and it's home to the long-running Clash of the Titans series. Geno's Rock Club, 625 Congress Street: This rock/metal club has character. The theater-style set up makes every spot in the house a good one, and the whiskey is good. One Longfellow Square, 181 State Street, Suite 201: Hosting acts from all genres, One Longfellow Square is a great place to hear old favorites and learn new artists. The bar offers local draft beers and cocktails made with local spirits. Port City Music Hall, 504 Congress Street: This mid-size venue attracts fantastic artists from across the country and supports the local scene, too. The beer selection offers many locally brewed options like Bunker, Oxbow, and Allagash. Space Gallery: 538 Congress Street: This Congress Street arts center hosts documentaries, community events, and music acts. Whatever the format, it's sure to be something that makes you think. Enjoy locally-made Urban Farm Fermentory cider or draft beer from Bunker Brewing Company. State Theater, 609 Congress Street: The State Theater could easily force its captive audience to buy overpriced macrobrews. But this mid-sized venue keeps its beer selection local, so you can enjoy your favorite Maine brew while you listen to the national acts that visit this historic theater. Portland has nearly 400 restaurants. A few worth trying right in the neighborhood include Emiltsa, 555, Taco Escobarr, Sur Lie, David's, Empire, and Boda.

  • We could not have asked for a better place to stay in Portland. This is a fantastic studio for couples or solo travelers. The location was absolutely perfect (we didn’t have to touch our car all weekend), the apartment was sparkling clean and neat when we arrived, and it was very easy to find parking (which was free!). Every little touch was well thought out in the place, and the price is a steal for such a modern apartment in the heart of the city. We can’t wait to come back to Portland and stay here again!!

Stay in the center of Portland in the historic building situated in the middle of Portland's most beautiful blocks. Despite the leafy surroundings you will be right off of the main street: Congress. Just steps from Congress Square Park, Longfellow and all the bars, restaurants and live music venues. The outdoor terrace looks over State Theater. Charming home with hardwood floors, real fireplace, round living room with panoramic windows and views on the streets and surrounding areas.
Bedroom has all original Japanese furniture and art, papasan chair and Japanese tatami bed frame (building is 420 friendly). Street parking is free but you have to move the car by 10 am next morning on Deering street. There is also a parking garage next to the Westin, which is on High street just a few steps from the condo.
Located in the center of Portland, by the main 5 corner intersection, you will be steps from all the major bars\restaurants\music venues.

  • The place was beautiful, unique, comfortable, and walking distance. I much appreciated the quick response/food recommendations from the hosts. Portland has become super hipster and a bit full of itself (to my cranky old lady self) but they were laid back, super friend, didn't make me feel bad for being over 32, and had a beautiful home.

  • A beautiful place to stay! Even better than the photos. It was so easy to get to the shops of Old Port and to our concert quickly. Parking was unfortunately an issue but a city is a city. Luckily, the parking garage is right around the corner. I recommend just eating the cost, it is easier and less stressful. It was nice waking up in the morning to the sun from the skylight. The bathroom was spotless and fancy, towels noticably soft and luxurious! Voitek was very nice and we enjoyed our vacation and stay.

We made the decision the day of, and Kevin was very understanding of our decision. He had even arranged for a garage for us to park in if we made it up. He was kind enough to let us reschedule and we are looking forward to visiting Portland at the end of March!

  • The building itself is old but the apartment is immaculately clean and is in an excellent location, only a block or so from a strip of amazing restaurants and cool bars. It's only a mile or so walk from other centralized locations as well. As the listing states, it's a quiet building. The one resident we bumped into was super friendly and offered us a free pass to the great art museum that's a 3 minute walk away. Off-street parking was the cherry on top. Kevin was very communicative and welcoming. This was our first time in Portland and we couldn't have been happier with the location and quality of the place. If you're going in the summer, keep in mind this is the 4th floor of a walk-up, so expect heat/humidity. I don't know if there will be an A/C unit installed in the hotter months or a fan placed in the room, but you may want to check in beforehand and then plan accordingly. In late May, it cooled down enough at night that we definitely didn't feel we needed one, but it seems like a fan would be a must in July-August. One final note: the bed is a double, so if there's two of you and you're accustomed to sharing a queen/king, you might need to snuggle up a bit more than usual.

    Daniel2015-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect! Kevin was receptive and informative! The place was spotless and well maintained in a beautiful old neighborhood. We went on a lobster cruise and it was a .6 mile walk to the harbor. Very safe! We walked everywhere, only used the car to go to the Portland Headlight which was worth the trip. Get a lobster roll from the food truck! I will stay here again if my travels bring me back this way. This was such a great value, too! Really can't beat the price! Only negative is up 4 flights of stairs, so pack light, and a double bed was tight as we are used to a king. But we were not surprised by either :)

  • Great location. Clean and comfortable apartment. Great parking. Nice view of the city and an easy walk to everything. It is up 3 flights of stairs with no elevator but good exercise. It was easy to find and the owners instructions for entry and parking were clear and simple. It was in a quiet safe neighborhood with a good dumpling restaurant across the street. I would rent this again.

    Barbara2016-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such a nice place! Cozy and warm and spacious too. Very convenient location and everything was all set for us when we arrived. I would definitely recommend staying at Kevin's.

    Mary2016-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our host had good information about the area and communicated very well. The apt is in an excellent location where you can walk to everything. It is large, bright, and nicely furnished. Parking is available which is important. The historic apt building is lovely. Our host was very accommodating and flexible when we had to leave a day early because of a medical problem. All in all, it was a very good experience.

    Bonnie2015-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This studio apartment was exactly as listed. Clean, organized, and easily accessible! Kevin made everything really easy and the location was IDEAL for anyone who wants access to explore all of Portland. We will definitely recommend this spot to any friends or family traveling to the area.

This STUDIO apt is bright, comfy, beachy, beautiful! The location is outstanding - walking distance to all of downtown. Central to beaches & activities. A/c and parking included. I am flexible, friendly, and happy to share info about Portland. Check our reviews, ask us questions, or just come stay with us!
This studio space is simply perfect for what you need. It's comfortable and it feels like home because it is. It's filled with great art, pieces of handmade furniture, etc. The space is ideal for 1 or 2, as there is only the one QUEEN size bed. But you could sleep a third person on the couch. I've slept on that couch myself many nights and it is very comfortable. Additional details to know... As stated and pictured, this is a studio apartment - meaning all one room. But for a studio it is quite large and spacious. We have a bistro set in the bay windows for dining, enjoying coffee, or sitting on your laptop. TV with apple TV set up. Full size couch and coffee table. Full kitchen. Small, but clean bathroom, with a stall shower - no tub. A/c and ceiling fan. Black out curtains if you like to sleep in. Off-street parking included. Coin-op laundry in the basement.
GREAT neighborhood! We are in the historic district and surrounded by beautiful old homes and brick mansions. We're also right around the corner from Longfellow Square, filled with great restaurants, bars, shops, small live music venues. Longfellow Sq is in the Arts district, home to Portland's best galleries and the Portland Art Museum. We neighbor the Old Port, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from our home. Here are some other landmarks that are helpful... *** About 5 blocks from the Portland Museum of Art and handfuls of galleries. *** Just a couple minutes any direction to great coffee shops, breakfast spots, and my personal favorites, Tandem and Holy Donut. ***Just a couple of blocks South of Deering Oaks Park and a couple of blocks North of the Western Promenade. Both are great parks for walking or watching the sunset. *** Just a couple of blocks from Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital. A short 10-15 minute walk to USM and to the 3 grocery stores in Portland (Whole Foods, Hannaford, Trader Joes). ***A short 5 minute walk to the Seadogs Baseball Stadium and 10 minutes to the Civic Center. ***3.7 miles to the closest beach; 7-10 miles to 3 more beaches and Two Lights State Park on the ocean. 4 Miles to Fort Williams Park and Portland Head Light on the ocean. *** 15-20 minute drive to the airport (about $15-20 for a taxi or Uber)
  • Nova was an excellent host - accommodating, responsive, and helpful. The apartment was exactly as pictured and felt like home. We took advantage of the close walking distance to the Old Port and checked out a number of Nova's recommendations (amazing food and drink in Portland!). It's a perfect place for two people to spend a few nights - check in and out couldn't have been easier. The one caution I'd offer is that it's not the quietest, and sleeping with the windows open (which kept the place plenty cool) gave us two light sleepers a couple of early morning wake-up calls. All in all a wonderful first airbnb experience for us, and we'd definitely stay here again if we find our way back to Portland.

    Becky2014-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sweet location! It was a perfect combo of price and convenience. Super close to the arts district. Nova'Scotia place is a real get.

    Mark2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and within walking distance to everything you would want to do in Portland. Very comfortable place. Nova’s instructions were spot on and made for a smooth checkin/checkout process.

  • Great stay great place. Clean and perfect location in town. Her extra touches and guide book was very helpful.

    Jennifer2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Nova's cozy apartment is in prime walking location of the awesome Portland downtown and a 10 minute drive to some of the most picturesque Maine beaches! Her directions on getting in, parking, site seeing etc. were all very helpful and easy to follow. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return!

    Sophia2013-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the apartment. The neighborhood was fantastic. We were only a few blocks from Congress street and lots of restaurants and shops. Nova was very welcoming and made us feel right at home.

    Molly2014-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The location in the West End neighborhood is very nice but I was overall very disappointed with this apartment. It was not as well maintained as it looked and had a musty smell. I would not return or recommend it.

    Gabrielle2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a great stay for our first airbnb experience. Check-in and check-out was extremely easy and Nova provided awesome tips on things to do and nearby restaurants. The apartment location was good for us - close to the airport (10 min drive) but still very walkable to Old Port / downtown. Many restaurants and cafes within a couple of blocks...The stay was a great value considering that a parking space is included as well. Also the important things were all there: fast and free WiFi, comfortable bed, good shower pressure. Would definitely book again if we visit Portland in the future!

  • Great place for a Portland getaway! Centrally located and within walking-distance of most hot spots around town. We had a great time and staying here made it that much better.

  • Everything was above and beyond what was expected

    Shirley2019-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place is right in the center of the action, very short walking distance (<10 minutes) to most attractions in the city. The one downside is that there is a bit of road noise late into the night, but that's part of the trade off of being so central to the city.

    Stephen2018-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place

    Mathias2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • You should definitely consider staying here! The apartment is in a perfect location within walking distance (10 minutes or less) of most areas downtown. It’s also super clean with a lot of amenities in the kitchen in case you want to cook in. Tom is also very quick to respond in case you have any questions, and checking in and out is super easy. We will definitely stay there again!

  • This place was fantastic for first time visitors to Portland. The apartment is located right in the heart of the city and pretty much everything we wanted to do was in walking distance. Tom was a great host and the free parking he provided in a lot across the street was super convenient and much appreciated. We would love to stay again!

Beautiful, spacious, 1 bedroom heart of the city urban apartment featuring 12 foot ceilings, high end kitchen and bath, refinished hardwood floors in a location that is absolutely terrific. Amazing City Scape Views! Sleeps 3 : 1 Bedroom with queen bed and there is a Futon in small auxiliary room.
Although a lot of places are called "great locations" it's truly hard to beat this one. We are next door to two coffee shops two restaurants, around the corner (literally) from one of the best coffee spots in town. 50 feet from a bakery, a well known donut shop, a one minute walk to a movie theatre and less than a minute to the Public Market House. Even a men’s and woman’s hair Salon are less than a half minute walk! Portland's Old Port is two blocks away.
  • very clean. centrally located. easy check in. exactly what we were looking for.

  • Great location in Portland. Within walking distance of all the restaurants and shops visitors would want to go to in Portland. Apartment was clean and chic in a safe area. Had zero issues. Owners were communicative and offered suggestions for parking which saved time and money before we even arrived! Would definitely stay again when I go to Portland! Great city, great hosts. Can’t thank them enough!

    Justin2019-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Everything we needed was provided. You won’t be disappointed. The restaurant downstairs closes at a decent hour - we hardly heard any noise that would cause us to be disturbed. Sunlight is my favorite thing - we enjoyed having an opened living space with the view. Very clean. No complains. We enjoyed our anniversary stay. Thanks Chris!

  • Well kept and cozy. If you don’t mind a little car noise and being above a local bar, it’s a great location.

    Jeremy2018-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Good location within easy walking distance to the art museum and to the restaurants and shops of Old Port. A parking garage is conveniently very close and there are others within short walking distance that were cheaper if you want to save a bit of money. There is a restaurant downstairs but it was still a very quiet and peaceful stay. Would recommend!

Beautiful old building, right in the middle of the city center, few steps from all the restaurants\ breweries, parks, art and culture. Just 3 miles from the airport & .5 miles from bus. It doesn't matter how late you arrive.
Beautiful sunny room with a skylight, full length mirror and bathroom right next to it (420 friendly). Street parking is free but you have to move the car by 10 am next morning on Deering street. There is also a parking garage next to the Westin, which is on High street just a few steps from the condo.
Nice downhill ride to bike trails (bikes are available), tennis courts are close by in Deering Oaks Park (rackets available).
I had a great time in Portland thanks to this wonderful airbnb, the owner is super friendly, the house is beautiful, super well located and clean. I highly recommend this location!

    Sarah2018-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a cute and tiny centrally located place, but we did not ever meet the host and were not aware that there was another shared room in the place that someone was staying in until we were there, which was surprising. You have to self check in so are not told about things like parking, etc.

A large bright sunny private room located in Bayside,(downtown) just steps away from everything Portland, Maine has to offer. Quick in and out access of the city: I295, Maine Turnpike, busses and trains. If you are in Portland for business or pleasure this is the ideal space to call your base. Your room amenities include: Mini refrigerator, Keurig coffee/tea maker, smart tv (Nexflix and HBO) , Bowers + Wilkins speaker system, Turkish bath towels and complimentary internet.
This is a fairly large room on the second floor, (bright and sunny) in the front part of the house. The room is cozy and inviting! It consists of a queen sized bed new linens, bureaus, desk and chair, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, smart tv, bowers & Wilkins speaker system. Space heater and ac/ in the room. There's a private full bathroom next to the bedroom with Complimentary toiletries.

  • This was an absolutely lovely stay. Checking in was easy and convenient and nearly everywhere we went over the weekend was walking distance from the airbnb (fantastic location!). The room was quiet and felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. The room and bathroom were extremely clean and if you happened to forget shampoo and conditioner (like I did) there was an extremely nice selection of bath products in the shower. This airbnb was exactly as expected and because we enjoyed the Portland area so much, we decided to stay an additional night. Dennis was a great host and very reponsive. Would definitely stay at the Hatter House again!Additional note/advice about parking: Hourly street parking (I believe $1.25/hr) is Monday- Saturday 9am-6pm and free on Sunday. If your car is parked for an extended period (as mine was from Saturday night until Monday morning), check your vehicle often. My car's driver side mirror was damaged by a passing vehicle/snow plow even though it was legally parked and pulled over as much as possible. Unfortunately I didn't see the damage until I got into my vehicle to leave Monday. This is no fault to the airbnb but did want to address it for people parking in the area.

    Nicole2018-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This room was exactly what my wife and I needed for our stay in Portland. We only had one night in the city (unfortunately), but the central location of the house and the ease of check-in made it super easy for us to get in and out quickly and be able to see as much of Portland as we could. It was also very clean/comfortable, and we would definitely consider staying here for a longer trip in the future.

    Frank2018-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic stay at The Hatter House. Communication with Dennis was prompt and easy, I didn’t need to ask questions because he was so thorough in explanation. Super easy check in. The location is perfect to get around downtown easily and parking wasn’t an issue. The place was beautiful - stylish, clean, and plenty of thoughtful amentities. Highly recommend, will happily be back!

  • This is a great place to stay. Only a 10 minute walk to Old Port area, which was great.

    Jodi2018-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The lovely private suite is located a 10-15 minute walk, via the art district, down to the historic waterfront. The location cannot be beat. Highly recommended.

    Ken2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect place to stay while exploring the city! Close to everything for walking, super clean, adorable style, and really cozy. Dennis was super helpful answering questions right away, and even taking extra care to air it out after cleaning for my chemical sensitivities. We felt like we were totally separate from his residence in the other end of the house. Just a perfect weekend. Also go to The Holy Donut for sure. AMAZING.

    Karen2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was as Dennis described. A nice comfortable room and bed with a private bathroom. A perfect location for exploring downtown Portland. The snacks, coffee, and drinks were a nice touch. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Tiny Cottage in Portland's Westend. Two floor space with an open kitchen, dining and living on the 1st floor, and bed and bathroom upstairs. Set back from the street, with a private yard. From here you can walk to everything in greater Portland. Great for short or longer term visiting. Great for couples, small flexible families, students and residents. Located between Mercy and Maine Medical Center. Blocks from Museums, MECA, USM, Parks, Markets and loads of great restaurants and shops.
This is a free standing little house. The shaded side yard is your own private oasis. The front enclosed porch is great for bikes, stroller, and/or drinks on a buggy evening.
This is a downtown residential neighborhood with access to all that Portland has to offer. We located conveniently one block up from Longfellow Square. Groceries, basic and gourmet, are available behind the house and down the street. Local Pharmacies and Reny's "a Maine adventure" Department Store will have any necessity you've forgotten. The surrounding shops and restaurants should exceed any additional shopping expectations. There is an elementary school next door with playground for children. There is a dance and yoga studio (Hustle and Flow) in the building behind the house with drop in classes. Local theatre, movies, music, bowling, and the Cross Arena are steps from your door. We love One Longfellow Square for great music in an intimate setting one block from home.
  • We absolutely loved this little house. There's really cute, fun decorations everywhere, and a great amount of windows so the sun comes in and makes it feel really cheerful. Everything was super clean, and the location was great. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to visit. Kitty is really great to work with, we had a small issue with the wifi when we first arrived, and it was fixed immediately and worked great. I would highly recommend this home for your next trip to Portland!

    Zoe2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The house was perfect and the location was even better. Only issue was water pressure in the shower, which I imagine is only a real issue during the winter.

    Michael2019-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • First visit to Portland and we are so glad we stayed at Kitty’s little cottage. Very thoughtful with the amenities (bottled waters, eggs, English muffins, coffee, etc.). Would definitely return to this Airbnb.

    Mason2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • We thought it was a great location, able to walk to much of the area that we needed or wanted to. Kitty is an exceptional host and very friendly, as with much of the Portland community. This was our first time using an airbnb and if all experiences are this nice we will use more. When we travel back to the area we will surely consider Kitty's Little House for our future stays.

    Chris2018-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Kittys place has everything you need. It’s in the perfect location, it’s spacious and clean and a perfect place to end a long day of exploring.

    Lily2019-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house was quieter than I expected, being in the city. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. Kitty left several extra touches for us and it’s very close to restaurants and waterfront in Portland. Would highly recommend!

    MaryAnne2018-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty's place is spacious, clean, and well-rounded. Everything was available as listed, with no surprises once we'd arrived. If you're looking to stay at a very convenient location in Portland, Kitty provides an excellent option at a great price.

    Kevin2018-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty's little house is the perfect place to stay. The house itself is in a quite, peaceful spot just back from the road behind other houses. The neighborhood is a short walk to downtown, nearby restaurants and stores, and Longfellow Square. The house is so cute and well stocked. I felt relaxed, at home, and warmly welcomed. I would definitely stay again.

A comfortable room in a house located near the arts district, with many restaurants, cafes, bars and interesting shops. It is a short and fun walk to the Old Port. Shares large full bath and half bath with another room rented on Airbnb as well. Parking and Wifi is included.
This comfortable room has a queen bed (new mattress as of November 2018!). It also has a dorm fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and a few dishes. There is also a TV and a Roku player. The TV has an antennae and receives several local stations over the air. The Roku player allows guests to watch several free channels, but also to log into their own subscription on Netflix, Hulu, etc. Guests share a jack-and-jill style full bathroom with the guests in our Studio, also rented out to visitors. There is also a powder room on the first floor that is available to everyone.
Our house is an a beautiful historic tree lined street. It is a block away from Longfellow Square, the unofficial start of the Arts District. There are several fabulous places to eat and drink within a few block radius. There are also several music venues and some unique shopping opportunities. The Portland Museum of Art is only three blocks away. Arts District - 5 min walk Deering Oaks Park - 7 min walk Old Port - 20 min walk Portland Headlight - 15 min Western Promenade - 15 min walk

A recommander !!

This beautiful first-floor apartment is in a gorgeous 19th century house, redone in a modern style with exposed brick and non-working fireplaces. Here you'll find everything you need for a wonderful stay in Portland, as well as proximity to some of the city's best restaurants, bars, and arts attractions - literally just four blocks up the street. Portland STR registration #2018-0397
Four blocks away, people will pay $300 a night to stay at the Westin. Here you can have a whole apartment for just a fraction of that! This is a 1-bedroom apartment in a beautiful old house. There's a spacious bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a living room and eat-in kitchen.
Up until a few years ago, Parkside was known as one of the rougher neighborhoods in town. Things have changed a lot. It's now one of the few placed on the Portland peninsula where everything isn't being turned into luxury condos, and where families can still thrive - and yet we are so close to some of the city's biggest attractions. It's also said to be the most diverse square mile in all of Maine. Please keep in mind that our location is right smack dab in the middle of a major city - and all the good and bad things that come along with that. So while you'll get outstanding convenience and accessibility, sometimes it gets a bit noisy at night. It you're looking for a quaint little place by the sea this might not be the place for you.
  • Super hôte disponible et aidant. Emplacement parfait prêt de tout!

  • Chris was AMAZING! I made a super last minute booking (driving to ME from MA) and he made the experience easy and convenient. The location was perfect! My boyfriend and I were in town for a show at the State Theatre and the walk there was nice and quick... The apartment itself was gorgeous and clean... I'd definitely book with Chris again! Thank youuuu so much!!

  • I'm a city kat and Chris's apartment was perfect to support my travel adventures. It's an awesome location in Portland with old school charm that's been updated really well. Chris was Johnny-on-the-spot for great advice and recommendations regarding Portland and venturing around. Thanks for the great experience!

Sunny ground floor apartment in a beautiful brick Victorian era Italianate home. 1000 sq. ft with hardwood floors, king bed, full bath, private entrance, access to patio and yard. Walking distance to everything; just two blocks from Congress Square.
This is a spacious one-bedroom apartment with a classic Portland layout: living room in front, french doors to the dining room, bedroom to the side, kitchen in the back. The bay window gets copious morning sun and makes the maple floors gleam. The bathroom has just been expanded and remodeled in 2017 with a small tub and new fixtures. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and a rollaway twin bed or pack-n-play crib is available. The entire place has replacement windows and was certified lead-safe by the city of Portland. Please note that like many homes in Maine, there is no air-conditioning, as Portland averages only 4 days per year over 90 degrees, in which case we have fans and beaches.
Mechanic Street is a little one-way street right in the heart of downtown, in the most diverse neighborhood in the state. Online maps measure walking distance in FEET to Portland's most celebrated restaurants, nightspots and parks, and less than three blocks to Portland Stage Company, Portland Museum of Art and Congress Square, the center of Portland's art district. Also be advised that a resource center for the homeless is down the street and an ancient local dive bar on the corner can sometimes attract an "urban tableau" of our less-fortunate neighbors, however they are mostly harmless and the community policing center is nearby and responsive.

    Celestin2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kate and Clint give easy access to the apartment with a number code lockbox on the front door so checking in is no problem, even if they are not around. The apartment is extremely spacious, covering the entire ground floor of the house. Some great artwork which I think is Clint's own? Everything was great, and we had no issues at all. The location is central, within minutes of Commercial St.

    Brendan2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in Portland at Kate and Clint's place was a treat, and they were very easy to work with. The location is good, the place was very clean, and the apartment is as lovely as it looks in the pictures and stocked with everything we needed. I'd recommend their place to anyone staying in Portland.

    Dan2016-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place for my wife and I to call home for a weekend in Portland/Freeport. The apt was exactly as advertised. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet our hosts (they were away for the weekend), but we got precise instructions from Clint, including emergency contacts, before we arrived. Although there seemed to be plenty of food options in their neighborhood, we preferred the 15 minute walk into the heart of downtown (Wharf St). A really nice welcome book was put together detailing the neighborhood and all there is to do and see. Two last things of note: Clint's artwork is present throughout the apt and is beautiful.....the bed was EXTREMELY comfortable !

    Vin2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house is great, very large and airy. Close to downtown and very walkable. We had our 8 month old with us and they had a pack and play for use to use which was VERY helpful m. If you are planning on going out every night to eat then this is the place for you. If you are looking to stay in and cook, then probably not. There isn't a lot of cookware that was useable, and a very small refrigerator. Understand that Portland is a city and drug related activity does happen, but where this spot is located there seems to be an uptick in activity. We witnessed two arrests in front of the house while we were staying there and multiple people shooting up outside. Not something I'm use to seeing, and we also live in a city. I don't want that to take away from the house or our hosts. They were lovely. When we mentioned seeing something fishy going on, they called the cops right away.

    Jenna2018-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay in your visit to Portland. It offers a lot of space! In addition to a real-sized bedroom and bathroom, it offers a full living room, dining room, and kitchen! Kate has a great taste for decoration and has created a really enjoyable space. The apartment had much more potential that I could have used, should I have stayed more than one night. It is located about a half-block from what seems to be the fanciest restaurant in town. A trip there is highly recommended if you are staying in Portland for a special or romantic occasion.

    Paulo2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I only ended up staying one night, but Kate and Clint made us most welcome and were very accommodating. The neighbor hood was very quiet which I wasn't expecting, and excellently central for walking everywhere I wanted to go - even in the last few days of heat and humidity. The apartment is the ground floor of a delightful Victorian town house, wonderfully old-world but splendidly furnished, and provided us with everything we needed - plus really nice towels and a super-comfy bed! At the risk of making it harder for me to book this excellent Airbnb in future I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a friendly, low-key getaway in fabulous Portland Maine.

Newly renovated studio in the heart of Portland's happening Arts District. Free parking for one car directly across the street. Walk everywhere on the peninsula and stay in a beautiful, clean, spacious studio apartment with a full kitchen and bath and lots of natural light. 2019 City of Portland registration STHR 008545
This studio loft apartment with a queen size bed is great for couples and business travelers. Towels and bed linens are provided, as well as coffee, tea, creamer, and sugar. The apartment features a fully appointed kitchen with everything needed to cook a full meal, a dishwasher and microwave. Enjoy high speed internet and a 49” flat screen Roku TV.
  • My husband and I chose Tom's place for a weekend anniversary getaway. The studio apartment was clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated, quiet, and had everything we needed. The bed was especially comfortable. The location was fabulous as we were only a few blocks from Portland's "Old Port" and the Art Museum the other way. The Maine College of Art was very close. The neighborhood was safe and had many restaurants and shops within a block or two. Parking was free and right across the street. I would definitely choose Tom's place again the next time we go to Portland.

  • We absolutely loved our stay in Tom’s awesome apartment! It was very clean and comfortable. We especially liked its location - walking distance to everything! With the Portland Museum of Art as well as the State Theater a 5 minute walk away and the Old Port just 10, this stunning studio apartment is located in the middle of Portland's West End. Built in 1835, this historical home is just steps from the best eateries, arts and shopping the city has to offer. When you arrive, park your car in your private spot behind the house and forget about it for a while. This cozy second floor apartment is the perfect place for a getaway!
There is not a full kitchen in this studio apartment. I have instead assembled a small kitchenette. (See photos.) There you will have a microwave, toaster oven, Keurig coffee maker, tea kettle, small fridge and water dispenser. The kitchenette has been stocked with stemware, coffee cups, plates, bowls & cutlery etc. Coffee, teas, cream, sugar, honey and snacks will be provided.

  • Jennifer's apartment exceeded all of our expectations. The location is fantastic, very close to Congress street and downtown Portland. The apartment itself was in a charming historic building, was very well decorated and cozy, with special touches all around. I can't say enough great things about this space, I would recommend it to anyone and would love to stay here again in the future!

  • I had business in Portland and Jennifer's place was a perfect sanctuary for me. Super cozy with lots of natural light. (I think she is an interior decorator!) Having a parking spot was a real plus in the city. I walked the city and found many local shops and restaurants nearby. Great running trail not far from Park st. I can't wait to return.

  • This place was great! It was beautiful and clean and had a really nice vibe. Super location on the West End, I love how much you can feel the history in the building. We pretty much walked everywhere. We loved the nice extra touches of the nuts and chocolates waiting for us. She was also extremely quick to respond whenever we had a question and gave us a lot of great recommendations as far as where to eat and drink. We would recommend her place to others and will keep it on our list when we return to Portland, Maine. Great City!!!

  • Such a cute and stylish place in a great area!! I highly recommend staying here.

    Chloe2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is absolutely stunning; the photos really don’t do it justice. You can clearly see that a lot of care went into choosing each of the little trinkets and amenities that fill the room. I was taking notes for our own place it was just so damn cute. We had everything we could have wanted and almost regretted bringing so many of our own toiletries. There’s ample amount of room for two- or more really. We were drowning in space. The location is fantastic- everything is just a short ride away but we almost didn’t want to leave the room! The bathrooms might have been my favourite feature of the whole space. There were THREE shower heads for your choosing, and the water pressure was out of this world. Truly, I could have spent my whole day in that shower it was so remarkable. The parking lot saved us multiple times as parking in Portland is a little difficult. My only thing is that the floorboards are a little squeaky so depending on who you’re traveling with, it has the potential to disturb your loved ones. That said, the bed is a cloud so it might not be a problem anyway. 10/10 would stay again.

    Alex2019-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a lovely place to stay. It was clean, warm, and inviting. The accommodations were perfect; Jennifer provides all the comforts of home. It was easy to settle in and relax. The neighborhood is nice and quiet. I'm hoping to stay again soon, for longer next time!

It is in a great location to stay at portlands busy waterfront with lots of shops restaurants and bars within walking distance. Alice was easy to communicate with and we would love to come back to this spot sometime in the future!

  • Beautiful, well-equipped apartment. Hosts were easy to deal with and pleasant, we hope to visit again!

    John2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was wonderful! It was very clean, had lots of light (both natural light through the many widows and artificial through the many lighting options) and was centrally located. It was within walking distance to a ton of restaurants and attractions, yet in a quiet part of town. The exception to that being at night, since there’s a bar across the street. But since it was chilly we kept the windows closed and were not disturbed. The shower is very unique and is amazing. The layout of the apartment is also very unique but feels spacious and is an efficient use of space. Alice was very responsive to questions about the neighborhood. The check in/our process was easy and painless. A note: there is no elevator and it is up 4 flights of stairs so keep that in mind. It is also above offices, not other residential apartments, which meant it was a very quiet building. It has fast WiFi and a washer/dryer in unit. Overall, I highly recommend!

  • This place makes you wish it was your own apartment that you could escape to on weekends. We felt spoiled with the his and her bathrooms and huge shower, we loved the big windows letting light through and even in January we were close enough to walk everywhere we went. Great place to stay!

  • This apartment is so cute! Jennifer has some amazing properties. This room’s bed is the most comfortable thing I’ve ever slept on; no lie I nearly ran out with the duvet. It has the bare essentials- coffee, tea, basic toiletries, etc. And the bathtub...! Lots of light and plenty of space for two. There are a few steps leading up and down to the apartment which was a little difficult as we packed 100lbs of clothes, but for the light, able bodied traveler it should be no problem. Comes with a parking spot which is a Portland lifesaver. Dream room just a quick walk away from everything. Absolutely obsessed!

  • Jen’s place was fantastic. Very spacious and a perfect location. Easy to walk everywhere, even in the winter. Highly recommend for anyone staying in Portland.

  • Jennifer's space is gorgeous! The apartment has the perfect historic feel to it and it's tucked just footsteps away from so many great parts of Portland. Jennifer was super responsive and very helpful with parking options and availability. Getting in and out of the apartment was easy and everyone we bumped into in the building was friendly. We have plans to stay with Jennifer again the next time we come back to Portland!

    Dana2019-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is GORGEOUS! Spacious, with high ceilings and stunning windows, offering incredible natural light. Portland’s historic character is captured so well from the beautiful hardwood floors, to the grande marble fireplace. The his and hers bathroom with conjoining marble shower, complete with matching bathrobes, will make you feel luxurious. Not to mention, the shower pressure is brilliant! Jennifer is a fabulous host as well...She has great taste and her personal touches are thoughtful and will make you feel spoiled. We stayed with our 1 year old who was enthralled with this place. We couldn’t recommend it more. The parking space and central location are the icing on the cake. Fantastic experience 💙

    Christina2019-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • The space is absolutely beautiful -- gorgeous historic architectural details, and very tastefully decorated. While there isn't a full kitchen, Jennifer has set up a wonderful little kitchenette, so we had everything we needed for morning tea and coffee, eating our snacks and storing take-out leftovers. The his-and-her bathrooms are also really convenient (although not at all soundproof -- this is a great space for people who are very comfortable with one another!) We were a 3-5 minute walk from lots of great shops and coffee shops, and a ten minute walk from the Old Port and the restaurants and sights there. 30 minute walk to the Eastern Promenade. Could not have been happier with our stay! Perfect for a romantic getaway or relaxing with a close friend or family member.

Updated unit includes full Bath with tub, galley kitchen, free street parking and laundry if needed! Located in the trendy Bayside neighborhood.. sort of like Brooklyn 20 years ago thus transitional, but super safe and super close to all downtown/Old Port amenities!
    Comfortable, cozy and clean.
A great, transitional neighborhood. A bit of street traffic during the day, but extremely safe and very quiet at night and as close to downtown as anywhere. Have lived here 3 years and love it myself. Trader Joe's, Back Bay Grill, Bintliffs, Bayside Bowl and a fantastic Flea Market (Flea-for-all) all within 2 to 3 blocks also!

  • Access to the property was super easy with a lockbox/key entry. The neighborhood is very sketchy but once in the bldg the outer door locks and apt door locks. We worried about our vehicle but nothing happened and there was a constant police cruiser in area. The place was sufficient and clean enough as we were just staying over night. Could use some improvements in bathroom but showers were hot with good pressure. Place could use a little TLC in other areas. Beds were comfortable. Location is excellent if driving. Do not suggest walking anywhere in the neighborhood. Nice info book available and coffee for the morning. Close to airport which is very convenient. Price is decent enough for the area. We stayed here the first night of our trip and are staying the last night too, as like I mentioned, it is close to airport. If plans had not already been set, probably would not stay here again.

  • John and Misty were great. They allowed me to check in 2 hours early, which I greatly appreciated! The space and neighborhood were as described. If you're not from a bigger city, the neighborhood may be a bit of a shock, but you don't have to worry. We were not bothered by anyone in the neighborhood. I would absolutely stay here the next time I'm in Portland.

Enjoy the quieter end of Oak Street in the heart of Portland's Arts District. This studio is great for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. Walk to just about everything Portland has to offer including museums, restaurants, shopping and the Old Port. Drive to many beaches in 15-20 minutes. 2019 City of Portland registration STHR 000854
For your comfort we provide linens, extra pillows, organic cotton towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Blackout shades and a white noise machine will ensure a peaceful sleep in the city. A fully-appointed kitchen with plenty of bar ware, cookware, coffee, tea, sugar and creamer will make you feel at home and able to eat in if you choose. Two large closets are provided for your items. Parking for one car is included in the adjacent parking lot.
One Longfellow Square, 181 State Street, Suite 201: Hosting acts from all genres, this is a great place to hear old favorites and learn new artists. State Theater, 609 Congress Street: The State Theater could easily force its captive audience to buy overpriced drinks, but this mid-sized venue keeps its beer selection local, so you can enjoy your favorite Maine brew while you listen to the national acts that visit this historic theater. Portland has nearly 400 restaurants. A few worth trying right in the neighborhood include Emiltsa, 555, Taco Escobarr, Sur Lie, David's, Empire, and Boda.
  • My wife and I love Portland! Whenever we need to get away; Portland is our destination. And in the future, Tom's place will be our destination again! His loft is inviting and warm; it was perfect! Thank you Tom!

  • We visited in February and had to crank the heater to the max when we arrived, it mostly heats the area around the bed, bring thick PJ's for lounging around. The Wi-Fi connection failed at awkward times, we'd be trying to watch something on the TV with the Roku late at night and it would go out. I'm sure if we'd asked Tom for help he would have jumped to the rescue but so late at night we didn't want to bother him.. We were also a bit frustrated with the neighbors who seemed to be opening every drawer in their apartment repeatedly each morning from 5am to 8am and slamming the heavy metal doors on their way out for the day. We didn't notice the white noise machine until the last day - it's by the bed - use it! I will say that the apartment was very clean and the shower water pressure was great - hot water on command! The kitchen had everything you'd need, even a bottle chiller in the freezer - nice touch! It was a great location and in the end was worth the little annoyances we encountered. I would stay here again, but next time I'll bring earplugs and thicker PJs in the winter months!

  • The apt was in a centrally located area, walking distance to a lot of what we wanted to visit. The building was dog friendly and so was much of the city which was pleasantly surprising! The space itself was very modern with exposed brick, wooden beams, and a skylight. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with anything you'd need to cook a nice meal. We'd definitely stay here again if we ever find ourselves back in Portland!

  • A very nice, clean, well located apartment with great parking. Fast and helpful communication with host.

    Christopher2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • When arriving to the self check in apartment, the provided code/lockbox with building key did not work. Called listed host number and there was no answer. I tried again and a woman answered, she told me she was sending someone from right across the street over. It took over 20 minutes for a man to arrive to let us in while we were standing outside in the rain in February. We couldn’t wait in the car because it is diagonal from the building and we wouldn’t be able to see the man arriving. While staying there I needed to use the iron on a brand new shirt. Either the board or the iron was dirty bc it stained the shirt. I also tried using the hair dryer, but it kept shutting off after 30 seconds. Check out time is at 10am, at exactly 10:02am the man who let us in the night before was there knocking on the door asking “are you guys checking out today”. Never did I have any communication with the actual host. Given the huge inconvenience of being locked out and having to stand outside in the rain to be let in, I would’ve thought an extended checkout or discount would be offered. However no such hospitalities were offered

  • This apartment is a spacious studio located in the heart of downtown Portland. Within minutes, you can be in the arts district, near the old port, or by the best restaurants lining the water. The building itself was safe and easy to find. Overall, an excellent experience and I very much appreciate how helpful and responsive Tom is.

Great for business travelers and vacationers alike! Enjoy a comfortable stay with amenities including a Keurig coffee maker, K-cups, creamer, and sugar. • Toms place was even more beautiful than the pictures, and in such a great location. It was the perfect spot in Portland for a little trip, with a convenient spot to park our car for free. It was clean and cozy and everything we needed! I would definitely stay again.

  • My husband and I had a great time staying here. The location was perfect for walking around the downtown area and having parking was also a huge plus for us as we drove from out of town. The kitchen was stocked with coffee and tea for us to enjoy. Everything was spotless and worked perfectly!

  • Tom always responded quickly to messages and questions. The space was exactly as advertised—clean, comfortable, cozy. The shower and bed were truly fantastic; better than expected. The location was also incredible, mere feet from restaurants and bars on a Congress street and about a 10 minute walk from Old Port. It was my first trip to Portland and I’ll be staying here when I return. Thanks Tom.

    Jonah2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's place is a great launching pad for exploring Portland. Extraordinarily clean, the apartment is simply but stylishly appointed, centrally located and within walking distance to most - if not all - of Portland's attractions. Check-in was smooth and easy, and Tom was communicative and clear. Highly recommend for your next trip to Portland.
