  • Caroline's place was a great find! Totally self contained and a lovely size. I arrived very late but check in was really easy. The most comfortable night's sleep I think I've had on my travels!! Great shower in the morning and a simple breakfast. Would happily stay again.

  • My son and his girlfriend stayed with Caroline. He was very pleased with everything. The studio was very clean, Caroline was very helpful and friendly, they were running late but that was not a problem for her. There was plenty of food in the fridge for breakfast and the check out time of 11.30 was ideal. He would definitely recommend a stay here.

    Debbie2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline was a great host, very friendly and knowledgable about the local areas. The accommodation is very clean and provides everything you need for a comfortable short stay. No complaints and would defiantly stay again.

  • The studio was a great base for a night out near Lewes. It was well equipped and exactly as described. Thanks for having us.

    Tina2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Spotlessly clean, quiet and private. Plenty of room, everything you might need provided. I’ll definitely be returning!

    Zoe2018-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for being an excellent host, Caroline! Very flexible with check in and check out times and quick to accommodate any special circumstances. Had an amazing time - thank you!!

    Nilusha2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great couple of nights in Caroline's studio. It's exactly as pictured: clean and bright with a comfy bed and powerful shower that we were thankful for after some long runs on the Downs. We didn't meet Caroline personally but communication was super easy. We really appreciated the breakfast items she left for us (cereal, juice, fruit and bread). The studio is also really well located - 5 minute walk from beautiful Lewes, a stroll to the South Downs. Thanks Caroline, hope to be back some time !

    Jess2015-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is brilliant. As it is a studio apartment completely self contained with a separate entrance. It is very comfortably furnished with everything one could need. Its location is ideal for attending Glynde. The only drawback is the off road parking. My car was broken into on our first night. Despite this we can highly recommend this place.

Free parking space below flat. (I also offer seasonal guided tours of Lewes, off the beaten track, for a small extra charge for anyone who wishes to explore the area more)
A Beautiful sunny breakfast balcony looking out onto the South downs .
My Apartment is in a very quiet location overlooking the Sussex Downs but only 10 minutes walk from the vibrant Cliffe area of Lewes with it's many cafes including the original Bills Restaurant. On the Cliffe High Street you will also find Harvey's Brewery and many independent interesting shops. There are nearby cycling trails and walks up onto the Downs. Lewes Golf Course is nearby. For any opera lovers it is a short drive from Glyndebourne Opera House.
  • Angela was very welcoming. She's a busy lady so we didn't see much of her. She left everything in place allowing us to come and go independently. Easy walk into town and good safe parking at her flat. Enjoyed breakfast in the sunshine on her balcony - beautiful view.

  • Angela's flat is ideally located with views of the Downs and nearby walks along the river or on the Downs - with nice real coffee left for us in the fridge. The lounge was bright with sun streaming in early morning. It was nice to spend the evening on the balcony surrounded by pot plants.

  • Great low cost option for those needing a comfortable stay in Lewes.

    Christian2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great location less than 10 mins walk to the main street. The views from the balcony are stunning (sat out having breakfast) as is the surrounding area. The room is cosy yet comfy and everything you need for the night or a few. Fresh fruit salad breakfast with the little tough of mint was delicious. Angela was a great host and very welcoming.

Georgian Open-plan cottage, secret, secluded & delightfully unexpected! Up a hill, meters from High St, nearer to golf course. From small cosy bedroom, unrivalled views of castle & South Downs. Delicious cafes/bistros,many Antique shops (one's mine!)
  • Michele was a great host. We really felt home and had some nice conversations while she was home. We also loved her pets, two dogs, and two cats. The view was great and there's a very nice veranda where we relaxed a lot. Also, the barbecue that we used in the garden was priceless. Thanks

  • Lovely house, full of interesting bits and pieces. Got a lovely chilled feeling as soon as entered. Great room with all you need and a smashing shared wet room. Smashing location to, literally 5mins from town centre. The host Michele was great as well, very welcoming and generous but all gave you all the freedom you could want. Just come and go at your leisure. Definitely be going back. All I wanted, lovely.

    Craig2015-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Michele is a lovely host and made me feel completely at home from the moment I arrived. The room is cosy and comfortable, and the views across the town and countryside are super. It was nice to meet the very friendly cats and dogs as well! The house sits part way up a hill, which gives it the elevation for the vista, and yet it is literally only a couple of minutes' walk down to the shops, restaurants and pubs. Thank you for a great stay and making me feel part of the family Michele!

    Tony2017-02-08T00:00:00Z

  • If you are looking for something different from a sterile modern hotel, loads of character, great view, very chilled. Quite a tight and step hill, best to check parking options. Two great dogs and a cat offer no problems. Thanks Michele.

    Paul2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful place that is full of charm and in a lovely part of town. Michele was a flexible and friendly host and my stay was excellent value for money. Her antique shop not far from the cottage is also well worth a look!

    Calvin2015-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle was right about the views! They were amazing! She made all very easy for us, checking in, collecting the keys and we could let ourselves back in late, which was great as we at a wedding that weekend.

    Tom2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Michele is an excellent, welcoming host and her unusual house is very cosy. The garden is a lovely place to relax on a spring evening. The cats and the dog are friendly, the wood-burner is warm, the bed is comfy and the spectacular view is........spectacular. Great place to stay!

This is a welcoming home in a quiet cul-de-sac off the vibrant Cliffe High street, 2 minutes walk from the beautiful South Downs. A second, larger, double room is available "Large Sunny Room with Cliffe View". Also the whole house "Charming Victorian Terraced House", sleeps 6 can be rented. Free Parking available and continental breakfast provided.
The double room includes a very comfortable small double bed, desk with mirror, chest of drawers and hanging space. It overlooks some beautiful, scented, pink roses. There is another larger double room available on Airbnb, "Large Sunny Room with Cliffe View", see other listing. Normally during the Summer months there is a two night minimum stay at weekends. The beds are very comfortable and I only use 100% cotton sheets. There is a bathroom with a bath/shower/sink and a separate loo and sink.
Lewes is a beautiful historic town with lots of character. I love the fact that it is small enough to walk around and from every corner you have amazing views of the south downs, the castle and the river and access to a huge variety of walks - hilly or flat. I have the advantage of living in a quiet street while at the same time being one minutes walk from a variety of restaurants, friendly traditional pubs, independent shops, cafes - and the original Bills. Harvey's brewery is also in the next street and you can walk across the downs to Glyndebourne Opera house. On a hot day you can nip down to Seaford for a swim in the sea or have one in Lewes's own outdoor pool, the oldest outdoor freshwater swimming pool in England. There is a large and eclectic musical and artistic scene and there is also a very good new three screened cinema built in the old Brewery, incorporating a café and comfortable seating areas, only 5 minutes walk away.

  • Very comfortable room in a quiet part of the centre of town - ideal location. Very nice breakfast too, and Jane was very kind enough to pick me up from the station, even though it wasn't far away. I'm only sorry I couldn't stay longer!

  • Jane's place is perfectly located in the centre of town in a quiet, quaint street. Jane was incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating, and gave us handy tips to navigate the town. The room is lovely and comfy with a beautiful view of an impressive rose garden. We'd definitely recommend to anyone keen to explore Lewes from a cosy base.

  • Lovely to spend time with Jane and her lovely home that feels very much like home and so wonderfully central. The bed was very comfortable and the room spacious yet cozy with lots of natural light and great view of the cliffs. Was such a treat to have Jane make me breakfast each morning. Freya is the sweetest cat. And Jane gave me a private tour of all her favorite spots around Lewes including the seven sisters.

  • The house was pleasant. I wasn't there much at all because I had to be in job training all day. Great location, within a very short walk to many restaurants and shops.

We live in the heart of Lewes just a short walk from super pubs, cafes & antique shops. Our comfortable ensuite double/twin bed room is very quiet & the flint walled garden backs onto the South Downs. Lovely breakfasts. Helpful hosts with local knowledge.
This room overlooks the walled garden and has a large comfortable 6 foot bed (or two twin beds) and an ensuite modern shower room. Quiet. Super breakfasts and friendly atmosphere.
We love this part of Lewes as it has a buzz; it's like a village within the town with many charming shops and places to eat and drink our famous local Harvey's ales!
  • Very warm welcome and the house is very nice.

  • Alison’s home is in a lovely and convenient setting, within walking distance to the centre of Lewes and it’s independent range of shops, restaurants and activities. The accommodation, in an old part of this historical town, is very comfortable, clean and peaceful. Above all, Alison is a wonderful host, generous with her knowledge ensuring that our stay in Lewes was exciting and memorable. I would recommend staying here - and I look forward to returning one day.

    Eliza2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A very comfortable room which included lots of thoughtful touches- such as toiletries, tea, coffee and chocolate biscuits! Alison was very easy to communicate with and eager to be of help if needed. Breakfast was super- lots of choice and cooked to perfection. The house is in a quiet area yet close to town. We were able to walk in and enjoy a meal in a local restaurant very easily. Lewes has plenty to offer the visitor- our particular highlight was a trip to Charleston -outstanding. We highly recommend a stay at the cottage we shall certainly be back.

    Pauline2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Alison was warm, friendly and accommodating! The twin room was spacious, and the en suite lovely and large. We loved the tasty breakfasts too! The location is perfect for exploring the town, brilliant for walking the Downs, in a quiet neighbourhood. Thank you, we really enjoyed our stay.

  • Thank you Alison! The stay was fabulous and just what we needed!

    Sarah2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Alison was very welcoming and the room was as we expected with a super shower room ensuite. Her home is in a terrific position in Lewes, just a short walk to all the restaurants and antique shops for which the town is well known. The South Downs are directly behind the property. We ate at La Famiglia restaurant and would highly recommend the authentic Italian food. It was lovely to have breakfast cooked for us in the morning. This was our first experience of Airbnb and we will definitely be doing it again.

A newly modernised spacious studio with separate kitchen & shower room. Towels provided. The studio is in the heart of the vibrant Cliffe area of Lewes between the river and the South Downs. Please note a minimum 2 night stay required.
The studio room is light and airy with two super comfortable beds which can be either used as twin beds or converted into a 5 foot / 1.52m. double bed. The flat is on the first floor of a Georgian fronted building. It is quiet but yet just behind the vibrant Cliffe area of Lewes with many good restaurants, antique shops etc. There is a good healthfood shop beneath selling everything from beans to shampoo!
Lewes is a wonderful town and visitors love the atmosphere and creativity. The flat is in the most 'villagey' part of town just a few doors along from the famous Bill's restaurant - the original one. There are at least 3 places within 1 minute's walk for delicious breakfasts.

  • I confirm all the positive points in the previous reviews. This is great accommodation for a stay in Lewes, well-equipped and well-located for the town centre and the train and bus stations. Lots of cafes, restaurants and shops around, but away from the bustle. I was on my own, but the studio room is spacious for two and the separate kitchen and bathroom make it a home-from-home. The welcome from Alison was warm and friendly and made me feel sure of a helpful attitude if any help or advice was needed. I'd stay here again and recommend it to friends.

Come stay in our pretty 60's chalet, hidden behind a beautiful flint wall and located a 10 minute walk from the high street and within a stones throw of the stunning South Downs. You will be staying in a comfortable private room with a private toilet and you will be very welcome to use the kitchen facilities.
We have spent the past 10 years traveling around the world and gathering interesting objects to decorate our house with. As this is our home we have poured all our love and attention into making it as comfortable and cosy as space to be in as possible and so we are sure you will enjoy your stay and have everything you need.
Our home is a pleasant 10 minute walk along the river into the center of town. We are just next to a number of pathways leading up onto the South Downs national park and from our house there is a great walk up over the hills to the pretty village of Glynde, famous for the Glyndebourne Opera House. We are also a 5 minute walk to the Ouse River and Pells Pool, the oldest spring fed lido in the country.

  • I had a lovely time staying at Cara and Alex's place last week whilst I was doing a course nearby. I was warmly welcomed (even though I arrived much later than expected and it was late at night), Cara and Alex's hospitality was amazing! The house is lovely with great little artsy touches around and the bedroom was peaceful with a comfy bed. This was the first time I have stayed in an air bnb on my own with the hosts so wasn't sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed my stay! Thank youuu :) xx

The modern kitchen is fully equipped with induction hob, oven, dishwasher and washer dryer. The Stables has a private patio and across the lane, the South Downs stretches to Glyndebourne. We always provide refreshments for your arrival, and can add a breakfast hamper for an extra charge.
Southerham is a tiny hamlet of 7 houses. We have our own water supply from a bore hole in the valley nearby. WE love to meet new people and there is lots of local information in our welcome pack which we can add to if required.
Walk along the river to the local pub, or a bit further to local shops, cafes and restaurants. By car you can reach great country pubs and tea gardens as well as the world famous Glyndebourne Opera House. Come on November 5th for the spectacular Bonfire night celebrations and processions throughout the town!
  • Myself and Partner and my mum and sister went to visit my brother who has recently moved to Lewes. The stables was the perfect place to host us. It is beautifully presented and is absolutely charming inside and out. It was in a great spot for lewes which was about a mile walk. We absolutely loved it and I can not recommend it highly enough. Thanks Sara and Girish!!

  • A lovely peaceful place to stay. Really nice that each bedroom had its own bathroom so perfect for two couples. Hosts very helpful and great communication. A short walk to Lewes. Thank you.

  • The Stables is a great bolthole - it has a rural feel while being an easy walk from Lewes. It's a lovely building, and done to a very high standard. We had a very easy and relaxing time. It was a pleasure to meet Sara & Girish, who were warm & helpful but not at all intrusive.

    Nick2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend the stables to travellers though Lewes/ East Sussex. Perfect for families or groups of friends we had such a cosy time. Location is perfect, far enough from the town to be quiet but still only a short walk away. Both the scenery surrounding the home and the house itself are beautiful. Will have to visit in the summer some time to make the most of the garden.

We live in the Cliffe area of Lewes, a short walk to lovely pubs, cafes & antiques shops. The comfortable ensuite room has own entrance. Our flint walled garden backs onto the South Downs. Helpful hosts with local knowledge!
South Street is in the heart of Lewes - extremely close to good pubs, restaurants, antique shops and a short walk up to the South Downs behind the house.
  • Very clean, convenient, well appointed. Good value for money.

  • We've stayed one night in the self contained B&B and Alison and Vladimir have been very good hosts. They were very flexible with both our check in and check out times. The room and bathroom are decorated with very good taste, very light and in perfect condition. The location is great, only a couple of minutes walk to the main high street and with a very nice pub close by. The continental breakfast was very good and we struggle to finish it :-) Lewes has been a great surprise, with many options if you like walking. We hope to be back soon!

    Alex2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Alison’s place was an ideal b&b, being peaceful yet close to town, with a comfy bed and tasty breakfast. The room had its own entrance at the side of the house, and was warm and cosy. I’d happily stay there again. Alison has lots of local knowledge too so don’t be afraid to ask her for advice.

  • We actually had a surprise upgrade to Alison's self contained studio flat as she had a last minute cancellation. The flat was very central and had all the amenities we needed for a short stay. The mattresses were a little soft for my liking but other than that everything was perfect. Alison is very friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable. Lewes is lovely and worth a visit.

A light, spacious, architect designed and beautifully furnished self-contained, detached two bedroom apartment with private patio. Located on a hill with stunning views over Lewes and just 5 minutes walk to the town centre. The South Downs are a short walk away and we are close to Bonfire Night action. Glyndebourne is a 10 minute drive. We are a 15 minute walk from Lewes railway station or there is free off-road parking for one car. There is a lovely bath with showerhead but no shower.

This is a welcoming home in a quiet cul-de-sac off the vibrant Cliffe High street, 2 minutes walk from the beautiful South Downs. A second smaller double room is available "Charming Room with Rose View " Also the whole house "Charming Victorian Terraced House", sleeps 6 can be rented . Free Parking available and continental breakfast provided.
This double room has a very comfortable king size bed. There is a built in wardrobe, chest of drawers, a small table with 2 chairs. I only use 100% cotton sheets. There is a bathroom with a bath/shower/sink and a separate loo and sink. This house, in the beautiful historic town of Lewes, is in a perfect location, being quiet and at the same time central. You are just around the corner from a wonderful selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, Lewes's biggest selection of antique shops, traditional pubs and Harvey's brewery while at the same time being minutes from the tranquility of the South Downs and the river. It is a stroll up the high street to the castle and 10 minutes walk to the railway station and 5 minutes to the bus station. This house has a lovely garden full of roses. I do share my home with a very friendly cat, Freya. I provide a continental breakfast of fruit salad, yogurt, croissants, cereal, toast etc. Gluten and wheat free provided for if requested.
I love the fact that Lewes is small enough to walk around and there are beautiful views from every point of the castle, the downs or the river .There are still places you can walk for miles hardly seeing anyone. From my house you can walk across the downs to Glyndbourne Opera house or, if you are up to it, canoe down the river to the sea. Then go for a swim. Or walk over to the Pells- the oldest outdoor freshwater swimming pool in the country. I love the variety of cafes, pubs , restaurants and antique shops and all the artistic, musical, literary and mad activities and the friendly people. There is also now a very good new three screened cinema built in the old Brewery, called the Depot which incorporates a café and comfortable seating areas.
  • Great time at Jane's house .Jane was very welcoming and helpful .very comfortable stay ,great breakfast .I really felt at home .

    Barbara2016-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • I travel a lot on business and generally stay at hotels which can be soulless and when on your own somewhat lonely. Staying at Jane's was a complete contrast. Her place is homely and "lived in" with a real fire and lovely cat Freya. Jane is very interesting to talk with and has a genuine interest in other people. She thoughtfully invited me and a friend to join her at an opera at Glyndbourne which was a real treat. If have OCD this would not be the place for you. However if you want to stay at a home where you feel extremely welcome and want to enjoy a delightful breakfast at the kitchen table with the host...this is the place for you.

    Philip2018-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very pleasant stay at Jane's. She is a great host and makes one feel like home. Freya the cat is also a loving companion. Jane's house is very tidy and with lovely decorations if you have an eye for details! The room was cosy, with the proper light by day and darkness at night. The road is quiet and close to shops, pubs and the Downs. All tidy, with water at right temperature in the shower/bath. The breakfast was very good, with plenty a variety of fruits and choice for cereals. Tea and coffee also very good. Would book again, definitely.

    Maria2018-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jane is the perfect host, she knows how to make guests feel at home. She was also very helpful for someone who is not familiar with the area like me. Moreover she prepares tasty breakfasts to enjoy in front of her colourful and peaceful garden. The house is situated in a perfect quite spot of the town, right behind the main road with pubs, restaurants and shops and just few minutes walking from the station. The room is spacious and sunny with a wonderful view on the white cliffs of the opposite hill. It could not be better, I spent a lovely weekend at Jane's!

  • This was a great Airbnb, Jane our host was friendly & welcoming. Our room was spacious and yet cosy and the bed very comfortable. Jane made us a delicious wholesome breakfast. All in All a delightful stay.

  • I had a lovely night in Jane's charming house. Jane was warm and welcoming and my room was pretty and very comfortable. I had everything I needed and Jane made a delicious breakfast. She also generously gave me an Alexander session in her lovely garden studio. A lovely stay.

  • Jane was very welcoming, sociable, sensitive to my needs and very responsive in making my experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible. She is a very trusting and layed back person, who provides an exceptional continental breakfast. The room is spacious with all I needed, with plenty of room and rugs for a morning yoga session. The location is a quiet cul-de-sac, perfect for on street parking, with river walks and reed-bed bird watching at one end, access to the Downs the other end and High Street shops and Restaurants 2 minutes away.

This is a cosy, lived in home, not a hotel, in a quiet cul-de-sac off the vibrant Cliffe High Street with its antique shops, cafes, brewery, restaurants and a couple of minutes walk to the beautiful South Downs National Park. It has 3 double bedrooms and a lovely flower filled garden. Free parking.
My home is cosy, comfortable and lived in - not a characterless space. It has my own personal belongings in it - books, records, paintings, wood carvings, piano, my cat etc. You are welcome to play the piano or light a fire on cold winter nights. As you can see from the photos it is not a modern house or modern décor. It is not a hotel, so if that is what you want it would not suit you. I love it and I love my guests to love i t- if they see the magic then they add magic to the house. I love my guests to feel at home which is why I want it to attract the sort of people who will feel at home here. The garden is also a little oasis (not manicured). I like planting flowers that attract bees and butterflies and I have lovely fragrant climbing rose. It is a lovely place to sit in the Summer. Lewes is a beautiful, historic town nestled in the heart of the South Downs National Park. My house has the advantage of being a in a quiet cul-de-sac yet right off the Cliffe High street with all its antique shops, cafes and restaurants and Harveys Brewery. At the same time it is a couple of minutes walk to the tranquility of the South downs. Lewes boasts a castle a river, the Priory ruins and various other historic buildings. It is close to Glyndebourne Opera House, Charlston and Monks House, Seaford and the Severn Sisters
My house is in a unique location being so close to all Lewes has to offer and 2 minutes from beautiful walks. I live in a wonderfully quiet street with the downs on one side and the river on the other and café,s restaurants etc in between. Lewes is so special in that it it has such a rich cultural and historic diversity and history , is surrounded by the most beautiful country side and is small enough to walk from one side to the other.
  • Great house in a really amazing location. 1 minute walk from the High Street shops and pubs. The host made us feel quite at home and the house has a "real house" feeling, not just a airbnb hotel room. The cat Freya was super adorable, lovable and a bit goofy. This was the perfect place to spend the christmas holidays.

  • Jane was there to welcome us and was a mine of information about local places to eat and interesting places to visit. We were given a great breakfast - Jane checked what we would like and it was laid out for us each morning. The house is a wonderful haven, peaceful but full of interest, with lovely pictures and artistic objects. The location, just off Cliffe High Street, is ideal. Would love to visit again.

  • We had a fantastic time at Jane's place. The room was spacious and light and the house was lovely, very interesting, colorful and funky. Jane was very friendly and welcoming and gave us lots of pointers on the best places to visit. The location was perfect - just around the corner from Cliffe High Street and a short walk from other amenities. But also very quiet. The train station was easy to walk to, so if you fancied a trip to Brighton it was all possible from here. And the South Downs were a short stroll away too. Perfect location to enjoy Lewes and surrounding areas. Jane was great with suggestions on places to eat and activities to do. She kindly laid the table for breakfast, if you fancied bringing your own, or there was a cafe opposite if you preferred eating out. Parking is limited around the place but we were lucky to get a spot right outside. Jane provides parking permits for a nominal charge. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Lewes and thanks to Jane for her fantastic hospitality. We would highly recommend a stay here and we hope to stay here again. A great find!

In the centre of lively Lewes close to Brighton and good public transport. One bedroom, plump duvet and cotton sheets. Kitchen, fully equipped. Comfy sofa and sofa bed in lovely sitting room. Woodburner. Double doors lead into your own sweet garden.
The apartment is on the ground floor of this unique house built by the local Bargemaster in 1784. It has one bright and airy bedroom, a shower room, kitchen with dining table and warm and cosy sitting room with wood burner and extra double sofa bed. The are frenchdoors which open on to a beautiful private patio garden. The kitchen is fully equipped to make a good meal. There is wi fi, TV and radio.
Although we are so close to town, the street is very quiet and walking in the middle of the road is quite usual and safe! The main house is detached so you will not hear neighbours sounds through the walls. It is a no through road with a wonderful real ale pub at one end and access to the Downs at the other.
  • C'est un appartement très chaleureux, très agréable. Il est très bien situé.

  • We had a very warm and friendly welcome. The flat was lovely. Clean, quiet and well presented. Everything you need. Belinda gave some really helpful advice in person, as well as a useful local info pack. We had a great stay.

    John2015-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Belinda and Peter have created a wonderful, peaceful nest in a central position in Lewes. Refurbished to a high standard (underfloor heating, beautiful marble kitchen table and excellent new shower) the apartment still maintains many quintessentially 'Lewes' features with wooden beams and wood burner in the sitting room. It is full of character whilst also being very comfortable. Belinda and Peter themselves supplied us with a wealth of local information and tips and were on hand to help with recycling troubles and parking permits whenever required. They were very warm and welcoming whilst also discreet and mindful of our privacy. I don't reccomend you to stay here - I actively encourage you to do so.

  • This is a lovely little flat, which is clean and comfortable and has its own garden! There were four of us (two adults and children aged 4 and 6) and it slept us comfortably. The children slept on the sofa bed and us grown ups in the bed. The flat is very close to the centre of town. We would definitely stay again!

    Emma2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Belinda was there when we arrived after a long trip from New Zealand which made arrival smooth and easy, and there were also a few essentials such as milk, bread and jam which was a thoughtful touch. Belinda was lovely to deal with and could accommodate us for an additional night and late check out which was brilliant. The accommodation itself was perfect for us and our little boy and the location is excellent, quiet but within easy walking distance to everything you need in Lewes. Would recommend!

    Claire2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Belinda is just as she had been when I was making arrangements for my stay, always very helpful and friendly. The accommodation is just as it is described on the site, everything is beautifully presented and furnishings are most comfortable, and the garden is just lovely. The cottage is perfectly located, close to the high street and also to the walking path to the south downs, and in itself is very quiet. Everyone around seems friendly. Lewes itself is close to many interesting villages and towns, the walks are beautiful, and the tourism people are well informed and helpful. I strongly recommend staying here.

  • A beautiful home in a perfect location. The bed is huge and we had a comfortable stay. Ellie was very helpful, we didn’t get to meet her in the end which was a shame. Would 100% stay again

  • Ellie is such a lovely host. Really friendly and easy to talk to. The flat is very calm and a lovely environment, yet right in the centre of Lewes and so very convenient for shops and the station. Despite this, very little noise from the high street so don't be put off by the central location as it's pedestrianised so no traffic noise problems. Very close to Bills and lots of other great restaurants and cafes, with the castle just a short walk away. Would recommend immediately as both Ellie and her flat are absolutely lovely :)

  • Although I have been signed up to Air BnB for many years, I had never actually used the service. I could not have hoped for a better first stay than we had with Ellie. Communication ahead of the stay was excellent, with Ellie providing lots of helpful tips for local walks and pubs. When we arrived, the flat was perfectly located in the centre of Lewes, the flat was immaculate, and the room spacious and very comfortable. Ellie made us feel very much at home. All in all, a great experience. Thank you again Ellie!

  • This is a great place to stay, right in the centre of town, but very quiet. It is in the charming pedestrianised part of town so you cannot park outside but it's only a few steps across the road to the public car park (maximum 2 hour stay during the day, but free between 5 pm and 8 am). Ellie is the perfect host and the room is lovely and comfortable. There are, however, several flights of stairs up to the apartment to keep you fit.

  • Lovely flat, spotlessly clean, very central and Ellie is a fantastic host... would not hesitate to recommend this place.

  • We had a really great time staying in Ellie’s lovely flat - thank you so much! We had a fab weekend exploring Lewes and the flat was beautiful, very convenient and sparklingly clean. Ellie was great at ensuring check in was smooth and that we had everything we needed for a lovely weekend!

Charming, quiet, double bedroom in artists townhouse with contemporary interior in the heart of the vibrant Cliffe area of Lewes. Lovely cafes, antique shops & other eateries nearby. Walking on South Downs direct from house. If you require 2 bedrooms, please see my other Airbnb listing for this house "Two Charming Rooms, Central Lewes." where I offer this room & bathroom plus an additional bedroom all on the same floor.
Good sized, light filled & comfortable room with double bed. Wardrobe hanging space on landing. Chest of drawers and laptop desk in room. Adjacent bathroom with bath. The shower room is down stairs. All bedlinen and towels provided.
My house is located around the corner from the ancient Cliffe High Street area of Lewes and is near the River Ouse. There is direct access to the South Downs 2 minutes from the house and beautiful walks to the villages of Glynde, Firle and beyond. On Cliffe High Street is Harveys Brewery, the original Bills Restaurant & Foodstore, cafes and antique shops galore. Lewes is full of unique independent shops - great for exploring and finding unusual things to buy! The award winning 3 screen community cinema 'The Depot', partially housed in an old brewery building near the station is a great place to eat, have coffee to hang out on a rainy afternoon! There are many footpaths from Lewes with direct access to the myriad of South Downs walks as well as the South Downs Way. Lewes golf course is on the doorstep. Cycle trails run from and through the town to nearby villages, Brighton & beyond. The establishments listed in my 'Airbnb guide book' are all 5 minutes walk or less. Cafe du Jardin (opposite) does especially wonderful food ( daytime) & is located in the courtyard of an old Coaching Inn - which is also a antiques shop.
  • Super séjour chez Jane qui ouvre sa petite maison typiquement anglaise, avec une jolie cuisine qui donne sur une cour aménagée avec goût, un salon accueillant et des chambres très jolies. Maison propre. Grande facilité d'allers et venues. Jane est assez présente et aime discuter. Je recommande ces chambres privées.

  • Jane was a delightful host, and her home was lovely. She helped supply us with picnic supplies (basket, blanket, et al) for us to use, and was very communicative! We had an excellent stay!

  • Perfect place to stay for 2 nights when visiting Lewes. Jane was friendly & kind // breakfast was delicious // bed super comfy // parking not ideal but Jane is very helpful & gave me a permit. Thank you

  • Jane is welcoming, sooo kind and helpful...I adore her! I feel grateful and blessed for meeting her. The place is set perfectly neat tidy and clean, with art and beauty all around you that makes you feel just the tranquility of life. You'll have anything you may need. The house is stunning and very well located. The breakfast is just amazing, when you find it set for in such a lovely way...yummieeee! Cozy, comfortable, quiet bedroom where I fell in love with at the very first sight... I could tell you soooo many things! But the truth is that I could tell you that more and more, but it'd just limit the real essence. But the most important thing for my experience is that I found a place where feels home, where I've discovered wise and loving women (Jane and a friend of hers) that embraced me while holding on space...encouraged me with my training and took care of me as I got sick one day.. Please if you look for peace, respect, warmness and good e energy don't doubt it: it's your place to be!

  • Beautiful house with a lovely host. Couple of points to note. The house carries sound. So if anyone one else is staying your gunna hear every toilet flush, doors closing, clattering on the wooden flour boards up stairs. And unfortunately for us waking up early on a Sunday by the sounds of the other guests talking in the kitchen while having their breakfast.

  • Another spontaneous trip to the coast and Lewes was perfect... Made even lovelier by a stay at Jane's. Clean, tidy and very homely with the fire burning to welcome us when we arrived and also in the morning when we had breakfast..would thoroughly recommend staying at Jane's for her fantastic location in the town as well.

  • We had such a lovely time at Jane's house. The location just off the High Street was perfect - near some fantastic antique shops and the brewery, and a great restaurant (Le Magasin, which she had recommended to us). We loved the house too - really arty and the room was beautifully decorated. Bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. A great stay - thank you Jane!
