Away from the daily hustle and bustle, this historical California Ranch style house has lots of character, and is nearly off the grid. A mix of the original 1940's Adobe home, and an updated and beautiful interior, adds a unique touch to this peaceful ranch house. The unheated pool provides an escape from the summer heat, and the wood fireplace is perfect for the cold winter nights. Beautiful views from every room, and a breathtaking display of stars at night. We highly recommend a 2 night stay.
WARNING: The pool is unfenced, and uncovered. This property may not be suitable for small children!
Humilde Morada (Humble Abode) is the perfect place to get away from it all. The house is 75 years old, a little quirky, but unique. The home is fully equipped, with almost everything you could possibly need. A comprehensive list of what is included in your package can be found at the end of this summary. Large gas BBQ's on the back porch and front patio, perfect for a cookout. Spend the evening around the firepit, or enjoy the wood burning outdoors oven on the patio. The pool is not heated and swim season only starts around end of May or June. We have free WiFi via Hotspot. The house has only 5 beds (1 Queen, 2 Twin and 1 Bunk bed (top bunk only suitable for children), but we can provide inflatable mattresses upon request. We intentionally don't have a TV, but for light entertainment, and to keep the "of days gone by" atmosphere, we have 250 DVD's with a DVD player that can project movies onto the wall: a real treat for kids and teens!
Sitting outside after dark, listening to crickets and the night life, or looking at the stars, is the absolute best way to go. Sunsets are amazing so be prepared for "sun downers" on the front porch, or enjoy a glass of wine in front of the wood burning fireplace, watching the sunset through the large lounge windows in the winter months. There is an endless supply of wood at the house, so please do not bring your own wood.
Humilde Morada is a great place for a fun family/friend get together, and a peaceful, secluded getaway from it all. About 5% of our guests rate this property as "remote". The Warner Springs area consists of small towns and farming communities. We are located in one of those communities, and surrounded by other 15 acre properties. Please do a Mapquest satelite map for Old Mine Rd. , Ranchita to get a better idea of what the area is like and where it is. Closest grocery store is 15min drive, and closest town (Ramona) is about 45min away, so bring your groceries and supplies with you!Check-in at 3pm, and checkout no later than 11am.
We are about 1 hour's drive from the city of Temecula, at the foot of the mountains. Elevation is about 4000 feet, even though the area appears to be at a lower elevation.
Temecula is the perfect place to do wine tours and balloon rides.
A 15 minute drive from the house, will take you to the small town of Santa Ysabel. Don's Market, in Santa Ysabel, is the closest market to our property, but it has almost anything you could need for a couple days away, including meat, beer and wine, ice and ice cream! If u don't feel like cooking and just want an average country meal, visit the Apple Country restaurant next to the Julian Apple Pie company or any of the other restaurants in the area.
We are 25 minutes from Julian, a small historic town, priding themselves with the best apple pie in the region. Make sure to do a buggy ride, and visit the Julian Pie Company when out there! There are a number of restaurants, but be prepared for an early dinner since they close early in the evening. There are several little shops to browse through, and a great second hand bookstore; my favorite place to visit! When our kids were little, we found boxes of books dating back to when we were kids. It was a real treat to pass that on to our toddlers.
Borrego Springs, is about a 25 minute drive down-hill, with easy access to the Anza Borrego Desert. This is the perfect place for a day trip during the cooler months. Spring time is the absolute best time to visit, when all the wild flowers are out in splendor. Borrego Springs has a few restaurants, but we can recommend the Coyote Grill for a nice dinner out!
