I have copied the following details from the town website as it decribes it so well...Calne is a great place from which you can discover the timeless wonders of Wiltshire. We are on the edge of the North Wessex Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a great example of Wiltshire's timeless beauty. Nearby is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Avebury, yet another part of our pre-historic landscape which includes Silbury Hill and West Kennet Long Barrow and, a little further afield, iconic Stonehenge. On our doorstep is magnificent Bowood, home to one of Capability Brown's most splendid parks; a great place to spend a day or even longer. For travellers on the A4, Calne is a great place to take a break and wander. The A4 goes through the heart of Calne's heritage quarter and Calne offers some of the best free parking of any town on the route. Stop off and visit our selection of independent shops and cafes, the Heritage Centre, the delightful Castlefields Canal and River Park, and the outstanding Atwell Wilson Motor Museum.

Beautiful tastful interior. Fluffy towels, and use of Neal’s Yard Remedies during your stay. My home is peaceful, tranquil and in a great location for exploring the Wiltshire country side. Breakfast tray off assorted Cereals jams marmalade, breakfast biscuits available for you.
I have recently returned to Wiltshire my home county after living in various homes/ locations on the South Coast of England, for over ten years living by the sea. There I also welcomed guests into my homes for short breaks and even much longer stays. Wiltshire has so much to offer:- If you are not already a member of the National Trust, I would highly recommend becoming one. There is a different National Trust property and location to visit close to my home almost every day of the week. This is truly a gem of a property, Calne and my stunning home is very centraly located for all the historic attractions Wiltshire has to offer. If you feel inclind then you don’t have to travel to far to explore the truly beautiful Wiltshire countryside and all we have on offer. Stonehenge, or The World Heritage site at Avebury. Visit Lacock and it’s famous Abbey, or spend your day wandering the pretty streets of Bath. Bath Christmas Markets are a must which start this year on the 22 November. These get bigger and better every year. Or perhaps take a trip to Salisbury and visit the famous Catherdral, or pop inside and have a peek at Edward Heath’s (the former Prime Minister) Home “Arundells” in the Cathedral Close.
This property is very centrally located not only for bus stops but also a stroll into the historic town of Calne. its also a great location for visiting the superb market towns beyond. There is a daily bus service to nearby Marlborough which leaves Calne throughout the day. Well worth a trip if only to pass by the pretty villages with their chocolate box cottages on route. You can also get to the historic town of Devizes very easily by bus or by car. Walk up the famous Caen Hill Locks on the Kennet and Avon Canal after take your pick for lunch in the many cafes, bars and restaurants.

My place is close to Avebury, World Heritage site, and Bath. You’ll love it because of its unusual location. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids). Calne is a modest little town, with facilities just a few minutes away. There is a lot of walking, and stately homes to visit in the area. The flat is truly spacious, so you can get away from each other when necessary. The garden side of the building is 1730, and designed by Robert Adam.
Large master bedroom, smaller second bedroom, and a large bathroom, over looking the town. The flat is transversal, the bedrooms getting the sun in the morning, and the balcony and kitchen the sun in the evening.
Central but but hidden away on a hill, looking over a river. This site has been inhabited for the last 6,000 years. The present house was built in 1730, but two thirds of it was destroyed in a fire in the mid 1960s. My flat is in the new part of the building, restored again in the year 2000.

The Old School House 1894 is a lovely old stone building with six Owner Occupied individual apartments. Apartment two is a superb luxury ground floor duplex apartment, over looking the historic Green and St Marys church. Smart TVwith Netflix. The apartment has a rustic wooden floor downstairs, a carpeted lobby, which then goes all the way upstairs, to the landing and bedroom. Breakfast is muesli , milk, bread, jams, cheese. Plus, eggs & spinach or eggs & bacon. Teas & Coffees provided.
The apartment has two comfy leather sofas. The lounge kitchen area does have a step up to it, and the dining room has a step down to it. The windows are 9ft and the ceilings are really high as it was a Victorian school house. The reason why the floor is raised on the lower level, is so you now get views across the The Green. The school house designed it so the children could not look out and see any distractions, just see the sky and look up to god. The school house then became the local Technical school, then a ballet school, making us of the panelled walls and light. Then a masonic lodge, before being converted into Grade Two listed apartments.
The neighbourhood is a quite one. The apartment over looks a Green in the heritage Quater. There is a lovely small cafe wine bar on one corner. Castlefeild park is a short stroll away. It has a cycle trail and outdoor gym. Counrty walks to Bowood and beyond. Plus a host of wildlife, King fishers, Herons, Egrets and otters if you are lucky.

In an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the barn has recently been converted and has fabulous views across fields to the Bowood Estate and towards Roundway Hill. It has a separate drive and a private entrance. Close to some lovely walks and country pubs, the barn is also near to the beautiful village of Lacock, the market town of Marlborough and the ancient stones of Avebury. A complimentary continental breakfast is provided to make your stay more enjoyable.
It's a perfect spot to access a wide variety of things: we are on the back of the Bowood Estate where there is a hotel, restaurant and spa, as well as an 18 hole golf course. Further west is the lovely National Trust village of Lacock where the Abbey, a country house with monastic roots, was once home to William Henry Fox Talbot Fox Talbot; Fox Talbot created the earliest surviving photographic negative in 1835, taken of a small window at his home, Lacock Abbey. There are some lovely walks in the area, through the water meadows surrounding the abbey and through the picturesque village. Avebury is a Neolithic henge monument containing three stone circles, around the village of Avebury- 9 miles away. It is one of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain and it contains the largest stone circle in Europe. If neolithic history is your thing, then Stonehenge is not far away across Salisbury Plain. Marlborough is also worth a visit - a charming market town with a weekly market. Every summer the town holds a jazz festival with local pubs, clubs, hotels and various other venues playing host to live jazz music over the course of a weekend. Marlborough College also runs a very successful Summer School. If cities are of more interest, then venture into Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where there is so much to do and see. Known for its natural hot springs and 18th-century Georgian architecture, the honey-coloured Bath stone has been used extensively in the town’s architecture, including at Bath Abbey. The museum at the site of the original Roman-era Baths includes The Great Bath, statues and a temple. Great shopping, a lovely theatre and a relaxing spa offer a variety of options. For those interested in horses, we are just down the road from Roger Charlton's racing stables, surrounded by a number of successful eventing stables and not far from Badminton. On the way to Badminton you pass the Castle Combe Racing circuit if you are interested in another form of speed!

The property is a large six bedroom Grade II listed house situated in the town of Calne in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Once the shooting lodge of a prosperous Serjeant-at-Law of London in the 1700s, it is still an impressive and character full property with many unique features. I
This beautiful family home is the ideal place for family holidays, friends reunions or even sophisticated hen parties! Whilst a character home built in the 1700s, it has been finished and furnished in a more contemporary style. There is lots of formal and comfortable living space and the delightful conservatory dining room is ideal for enjoying a celebratory meal. The large main kitchen has a two oven range and there is also a secondary 'catering' kitchen with a further oven and hob.
If you don't wish to cook there are a host of places to eat in Calne, nearby is the Lansdowne Hotel for drinks or to eat, a great Italian on the High Street, Divine Cafe for brunch or lunch. The nearby village of Compton Basset has a great pub serving food which is just 10 mins by car, and if you are feeling flush try Rick Stein's restaurant in nearby Marlborough.
