Step into another world with a friendly landscape designer

:::Please have a look at my newest offering>>>> Airbnb Experiences: Descending Arashiyama:::

The Japanese garden defies quick and easy understanding. As we move in awe through one of these masterpieces we can feel that there is something deeper than just the physical beauty that surrounds us.

This experience is designed to go to the heart of that "something deeper".

While occupying some of Kyoto's most magical and sacred spaces that artists, nobles, and Zen monks created hundreds of years ago, you will be provided in-depth explanations and insights into the world of Japanese gardens that you would never hear about otherwise.

The Japanese garden will be revealed to you as an expression of profound art-- amazing living and breathing sculptures nestled within the larger landscape of Kyoto.

As you will undoubtedly visit at least several temples and gardens while you are here, this experience will equip you with all the tools you need to help make your time in Kyoto one that will form a lasting impression on your heart.

Drawing on my 11 years of experience as a landscape designer in the United State, 5 years working in the traditional garden industry in Kyoto, and my self-studies in Eastern philosophy since my early teens, I am able to provide experiences for my guests that are unique and from the heart.

As the only foreigner to graduate from the Kyoto Japanese Garden Association Cooperative Training Program, I have gained insights to Japanese culture and gardens that few outsiders have had access to.

Come with me on an adventure away from the regular tourist route and immerse yourself in the exquisite and mystical nature of Kyoto. Our experience will feel less like a tour and more like a meaningful day considering design, philosophy and history while visiting amazing locations of harmony and beauty.

An eye opening experience of zen gardens interpretation only can be made if we re experiencing it with one that has deeper undertanding and knowledge than just the beauty on the surface. And i had it on this trip with Andrew. Arigato!

Wonderful experience I’ll never forget! Andrew had such in depth knowledge of the Japanese Gardens from the beautiful vegetation to how they are laid out to tell stories, teach lessons and use the beautiful borrowed scenery of the landscape and temples they are a part of. My favorite experience in Japan by far!

Highly recommend Andrew. His knowledge and passion made this experience extremely unique. The places he took me I could have never done on my own. Panning on returning to Kyoto and having him show me more of this magical city. Best regards Frank

A wonderful lecture about Japanese gardens. We learned a lot from Andrew and got to know things that would be hard to discover on our own. Highly recommended!

This experience was a great way to start our trip in Kyoto - with Andrew’s explanations on how the gardens are designed and what they represent, it makes going on our own walks that much more meaningful. Andrew was a very good leader of the group and we enjoyed learning not only from him, but also from the conversations with the other guests. Definitely book this to get the most out of your Kyoto trip!

Our experience with Andrew was incredible! It was wonderful to pause, take a breath, and gain awareness of the elements of Zen gardens and how those elements recreate the essence of nature. Throughout our walk, we appreciated Andrew’s passion, enthusiasm and knowledge of the gardens he shared. His level of insight traveled with us as we visited additional gardens on our own. This is one of those experiences that simply becomes a part of you long after the thank you’s and farewells have taken place. We have since experienced Zen gardens in an entirely new light. We highly recommend this experience with Andrew (best before you visit Kyoto's gardens solo) and we cannot express fully what our time with him brought to our lives here in Japan. With much gratitude, R&B
