Let's explore Kamakura together ... and take great photos!

Let’s explore Kamakura, the home of Japan's first shogunate (military government), and the country's capital from 1188 to 1333. I'll explain the history and culture of this important era. We'll visit Tsurugaoka Hachimangu-gu Shrine, built by the first shogun, Yoritomo Minamoto, followed by a walk down Komachi-dori, Kamakura’s famous shopping street. We’ll visit Hasedera, with its beautiful gardens and views across the bay, and then proceed to the magnificent Great Buddha, standing more than 13 meters tall. All in all, it’s a fun day out for singles, couples, and families, as we visit temples, shrines, and gardens, explore caves, spot wildlife and exotic flowers, sample Japanese foods, go shopping, and experience great views of Sagami Bay and Yuigahama Beach. As a photographer, I can advise you on how to take great travel pictures and/or take photos of you completely free of charge enjoying the different venues we'll visit. Forget about those awkward poses stretching out for selfies; I'll do the photography for you and send the pics directly to your inbox. What's more, spring is a great time to visit with plum and cherry blossoms in full bloom!

Pro photographer since 1996, I live in Kamakura. I’ve published one book on Japan and a couple on Cambodia, with several one-man shows throughout Asia. Please see Samurai Phototours on Facebook , and check out my .com website of the same name. I love meeting people from all over the world, and showing them around this beautiful, historic town. AND, I'm more than happy to take photos of you, for you, and deliver them straight to your inbox after the tour.

Le lieu

We'll meet at JR Kamakura station, East exit at 11am. It’s about 45-55 minutes from major Tokyo stations (Tokyo, Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Shinagawa). I'll send you a recommended train schedule from your point of departure in Tokyo should you need it. The Experience will include visits to temples, shrines, and gardens, a walk down Kamakura's famous shopping streets, the beach, and a ride on a scenic railway train.

I am traveling in Tokyo by myself, so I needed a couple of good personal tour guides, I looked at this tour in internet w/ different companies and it was difficult and expensive. Peter gave me instructions to get to Kamakura, it was easy to get there w/ his help, He explained culture and history which I enjoyed, He is calm and nice guy! I had a blast, beautiful temples and shrines. Highly recommended
