We will learn how to cook traditional Hainanese Chap Chye which is one of my favourite Chinese New Year dish. It is easy to cook and tastes delicious.
After a quick introduction of the story of this family dish, we will take a walk through Geylang Bahru to allow you to experience the real Kampong spirit of the neighbourhood. I will bring you to the wet market and NTUC Fairprice supermarket to show where to find the ingredients for this recipe and at same time, I will also explain to you how to select the best ingredients.
We will start cooking when we return to TOUCH Senior Activity Centre.
Because Chap Chye requires the vegetables to be soaked over a certain time, I will then prepare some ingredients beforehand and teach you step by step on how to make it. Meanwhile, you will have hands-on experience on the food preparation, from cutting the vegetables to stir-frying them.
Once the food is ready, we will share and enjoy our cooking experiences and recipes around a nice Chap Chye meal.
