An insight & intro to the lifestyle of Tango

Meet Up: Train Station Exit 1....Walk [10 min] to the Aldea.

Introduction [15 min] to the place, & intro to the revolutionary side of Buenos Aires, the historical context of the place, & what it became [a community allotment that hosts free culture for the people].

Background to Tango [15min]:
We will sit in a little cove to have a tea/ Mate, & give a small introduction to the mythical history of Tango - every dancer has their own narrative created by their experiences. Ours is of the occulted tango; its African roots & ritual of connection to the earth, yourself, the other & the community. Hence hosting this experience in an edible forest grown by the people.

Practical Class to Introduce Movement [40 min]:
Go through the etymology of tango movement, the 'commandments', culture & customs in practice. Tango is not like salsa of swing where in a few steps you get the gist, it is closer to a form of Tai Chi, it's about energy & intention. So we will attempt to transmit the intuitive nature of tangos movements, & it's swagger of the people.

Practice (1 hour)
Here you can sit, chat, and try out a little of what you have learned. Ask anything you need, and enjoy.

I am Anglo-Argentine, and my partner is Celt-Worldy ;).
We have been dancing tango for 7 years. We had the honour of learning in the old-school way, and tango blessed our lives so profoundly it's our passion to share it the way we learnt it: no steps, just a big heart, and even bigger hug.

Le lieu

The Velatropa is an inspiring community allotment, and natural ecological reserve. It has an edible forest started by the students and teachers of the university, who squatted the abandoned foundations after the dictatorship banned the rest of the University grounds being built. This place gives an on hands experience of the politics of the country and how the people overcame and healed the results of the dictatorship.

Bring comfortable shoes you can move in, a pair of socks and a good hug...This is a real experience of Buenos aires, it's gritty, with grafity, dogs, a pinch of mud and lots of heart.
