Au programme

Join us on a beautiful bike tour in the green and natural area of the Caffarella Valley and along the Ancient Appian Way. We will open for you hidden archaeological gems as the Tomb of Annia Regilla (usually closed to public entrance) and we will walk inside the Circus and Villa Of Massenzio and ancient thermal bath. Together we'll take in the beautiful views, discover the river Almone, which was considered a sacred river in mythical Rome & runs through the first 2 miles of the ancient cobblestones. We’ll be surrounded by beautiful nature, trees, birds and archaeological Roman ruins and we will have a stop to take pictures of the symbol of the Appian Way: the Tomb of Cecilia Metella!

I have worked in the Appia Antica Park since 2002. In the past seven years me and some friends (archaeological and naturalistic guide) started to bring tourists along different routes by bike and on foot to discover the Park. I'd like to make you discover the Caffarella Valley to enjoy its beauties and peace and then ride the Ancient path of "Via Appia Antica" with the bumpy cobblestones!
Bikes are my passion. I mostly move around Rome choosing the most suitable one of my 3 bikes: a folding bike, a MTB, and a road one.

We were so fortunate to have the very knowledgable & personable guide Joi to ourselves for our 4-hr biking tour thru the Appia Antica! Her depth of historical & artistic Roman facts and folklore was terrific and she answered our many questions as we stopped at various highlights. This tour tied together beautifully all we’d learned during our extensive tours of the Vatican and Colosseum. Brava e grazie!

Marco and Joanna went out of their way to accomodate our requests. We asked to visit additional sites along Appia Antica and they managed to get us there. Joanna is very knowledgeable gide and provided a lot of information during the trip. Bikes were in a good condition.
