Let's Hike Vancouver's Amazing Rain Forest

I will pick you up at your downtown Vancouver hotel, or the Cruise Ship terminal, and drive you through Stanley Park and over the Lions Gate Bridge.
From there, we will head up to the beautiful Capilano Reservoir to start our hike. Views (and photo opportunities of the Lions) are amazing. We walk across the Cleveland Dam and down the wild west side of the Capilano River. Huge trees, both standing and fallen await.
Then we will cross over the raging Capilano river and hike right down to the river where my dog Olly will go for a dip (of course, you are welcome to swim in the chilly water as well). We will also break for a snack at this point of the hike.
On the way back up we can stop in at the Salmon Hatchery if the interest (and time) is there. More than 2 million salmon are released every year.
This area of the Canyon sits between Vancouver's two most visited tourist attractions; the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain. They are both beautiful and attract more than a million guests a year.
We will only see a few people (and dogs) on our hike...

I have been very fortunate to live blocks away from the Capilano Canyon for the past 12 years. Exploring the local mountains, often with our dog Olly, has been part of our healthy Vancouver lifestyle. I currently work as a tour guide in the Eco- tourism market and I am looking at sharing my experiences with Airbnb guests.
My professional background includes many years working with First Nations along the coast of BC. Please let me offer my passion for hiking, BC's First Nations, and the trees and wildlife in our beautiful Rain Forest, with you this summer. I am sure you will love it as well.

Le lieu

This, off the beaten track, moderate hike will fully expose you to the green beauty, clean and fresh air only found in a Rain Forest.
Getting some light exercise, in a quiet forest - far from the madding crowds, yet minutes from downtown can be a special treat for those visiting Vancouver.
Huge trees tower over you while the river winds through the canyon walls below. Let our Rain Forest bathe, refresh, and revitalize you.

Our hike with Bruce was very enjoyable. It was nice to get away from the tourist crowds and interact with a local Vancouverite. And the rainforest at Capilano Canyon is beautiful! Amazing how close it is to the city. We saw spawning salmon as well which was a treat.

This lovely hike is free from bells and whistles, which leaves you to relish and enjoy nature’s absolute ability to stun on its own merit. The rainforest is beautiful and offers different terrain during the hike. There are many photo opportunities to capture the scenery. Bruce is a gem!!!! He is knowledgeable and engaging and keeps the vibe tranquil. Ollie (his amazing four legged son) really added a homie touch to the experience. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and respected and well cared for.

This was a beautiful morning hike through stunning forest! Think rambling up roots, stepping over riverside rocks and walking through old growth forest. Bruce was great to chat to and was very friendly and knowledgeable. A lovely way to explore North Van with a local and his dog Ollie!

I had an amazing trip yesterday with Bruce, he knows a lot about the importance of rainforests, salmon, trees, plants and nature itself. His dog was lovely and is a true photo model! Thanks Bruce, for the great talks and sport yesterday evening - I totally recommend this to anyone who likes to more about the nature here and who likes to hike! :)

Bought this hiking trip for me and 3 of my friends and we truly enjoyed it. Bruce and Olly are great guides. Bruce was very nice and knowledgeable. The place that we went to was so beautiful and picture perfect. I recommend this to anyone who wants to explore more than just the touristy places.

This is my first time to join Airbnb activity. What a nice hiking! I would like to introduce it to anyone who is interested in hiking in nature. Although a stone away from hot tourist spot where thousands of people are, Bruce guided me to a quiet river down to the mountain via quiet trails. Bruce is very helpful and patient. Olly is a best companion for this hiking!
