Au programme

Our life in the countryside is connected deeply with nature.
Our village is surrounded by many cypresses and we use it for dyeing.
Ancient Japanese people made our kimono by our selves in the house.
They didn't use a special color.
They went to the mountain and pick up natural leaves and they dyed with it.

We dye stall with natural dyeing like ancient Japanese people.
We make color from cypress it grows up in our village.

And we make a pattern with Japanese traditional technique "Itazime-shibori".
The technique has used since 1300years ago.
I prepare many shapes of woods like circle and square etc.
You can choose the shape and design what pattern you make.
And we dye to make the pattern.

When you finish and open your stall,
you can find beautiful colors and patterns.

When you put on the stall in your country,
You will remember our mountains.

My life is in Art and Nature.
I was born and grow up in the Japanese countryside.
My house was surrounded by beautiful nature and the artworks of my father.
I studied dyeing at Art University and I designed fashion textiles.
I came back to the countryside and start teaching dyeing with natural leaves.
I hope guests stay and experience the background on which products are made.
The stall dyed with familiar plants is a color that can only be produced here. Every time you wear it, the landscape of Japan will come back. I want you to feel the richness of incorporating products made into your life.

This was an incredible experience. Yuka’s atelier is located in a beautiful location, in a historical building with a garden view. I learned so much about the local area through this activity and Yuka is truly a wonderful person, very open and knowledgeable of so many things. I will treasure this shawl forever! Thank you.

This was one the most amazing experiences I’ve had in Japan so far. Yuka is a very welcoming and kind hearted person. The small town, Ohara is beautiful and is surrounded by mountains. Yuka shows her guests every step of the shall dying process in her cozy little studio. I loved having the opportunity to work with my hands and to create something that was unique which I could then bring home with me. I would definitely come again. Thank you Yuka for an amazing experience ❤️.
