Every building has a story to tell, from the materials, technology, and styles favored when it was constructed, to the people who designed, built, lived and worked there. Events of historic proportion take place in and around buildings as well. Come with me on this journey to discover all the secrets each building on our tour is waiting to tell us.

We will be walking through Old City, visiting the oldest continuously inhabited residential street in the United States, and seeing the same buildings the Founding Fathers worked and worshiped in. Whether your interest is architecture, American History, visiting the places where Ben Franklin and George Washington lived and worked, or humming a tune from the Hamilton play as we experience Philadelphia as the Capitol of the United States, this tour is for you!
Other things to note
Bring cameras as there is much to photograph. Snacks that you like are good to have, or there are plenty of stores along the way. A hat and comfortable shoes are also a good idea to wear.

I am a Registered Architect who has lived in the City of Philadelphia since 1978. After taking a walking tour with famed City Planner Ed Bacon, I was inspired to give similar experiences of the city.
Currently residing in the Old City area of Philadelphia, I would love to introduce you to the only World Heritage City in the U.S.

We loved it. Reid was very knowledgeable. His clear speaking style was easily understood by my wife who suffers from a hearing loss.

Reid was so knowledgeable and flexible in pausing for bathroom breaks etc. Answered all our questions and maintained a very pleasant mood throughout. He was also great with humor and stayed engaged with our group throughout the tour. His background in architecture gave him a great perspective on building design, and still managed to strike an excellent balance between architecture and history. Overall a fantastic tour guide.

During intros, Reid talked about his background being in architecture, and he did point out the occasional architectural detail along the way. More often that not, though, he touched on the lives and dealings of historical figures. He focused on encounters and interactions, which made history interesting and vibrant. Reid knows a lot about a lot. This event definitely enriched my Philly experience.

It was my first time visiting Philly and am a total history enthusiast and this tour immensely satisfied my interest in learning about colonial Philadelphia and all it’s roots and history! The information Reid shared was deeply fascinating and have read books about it, but he brought it to life with the way he presented the information (he even sang/rapped some applicable Hamilton lines! Impressed!)! I can tell this subject matter is something that really interests him, and that interest drew me in. I also appreciated his knowledge on architecture as I love learning about the details of buildings. The 2 hours felt short because he was so engaging! I highly recommend this tour to anyone! Either first time Philly attendees or old timers looking to acquire more historical knowledge! Incredibly memorable!

Absolutely the highlight of our trip to Philly. Reid had so many fascinating stories about Franklin, Madison, Hamilton and many others from local lore you’ve never heard of. Best walking tour I’ve ever had! My 16 YO son really enjoyed it too, Reid has a very engaging, witty style that really brings history to life.
