In this fast-paced half-day workshop, you'll be guided through a full introduction to the endangered craft of marbling by professional marbler Lucy McGrath. We start with a brief background of marbling's history and uses, illustrated with genuine vintage marbled books, then moving onto the practical stuff with a demo on how to mix mordant and prepare paper. Then it's straight onto marbling, with Lucy guiding you through different patterns and techniques, starting with getting you used to the behaviour of paint on the water, then building up techniques (and your confidence) gradually. You'll end up with 10-16 of your own beautiful papers, which will be posted to you having been dried and flattened. You can even opt to have one made into your own hard-back notebook.
