The Jewish Community has left it´s footprint in Havana City. But specifically in Old Havana it´s unnoticed, unless you have a little help... That is what I want to give you. So, if you, like me, admire the Jewish culture and legacy, don´t miss this chance to walk into the deep Old Havana and see the scenario where the jews began their life in Cuba. We will begin in one the most stylish hotels at the present in Havana whose inspiration concept is... (guess what!)...the jewish legacy. We will be seeing what was their most picturesque commercial street, their oldest places of worship, bakery, butchery, former businesses ...and more! Let´s visit some curious locations that had to do with the jewish daily life decades ago. You will see new projects in Old Havana with a sincere intention to honor the jewish presence in Cuba. We will end in El Vedado seeing the present day life of the community. (This will be also a very useful experience to contrast the restored area in Old Havana with the one that have not received any restoration at all).
I´m an all life cuban resident working as an architect since 2014. The history of Jewish Comunity in Cuba is the main topic of investigation of my mother, who is a professor at Havana University. I learned with her about the most important places for jewish people in Havana. I love walking and knowing my city and (specially) Old Havana as the palm of my hand and discovering it´s amazing and unnoticed places with stories to tell. Working as an architect in some of the restoration and new projects in progress had given me a perspective of Havana City I would love to share with you.

We will visit places that actually belongs to the jewish community and some that doesn´t , so you will need extra help to recognize them. We are going to start in Plaza Vieja, Old Havana, to enjoy the restored sector at the very beginning. Then we will move to the real Old Havana, avoiding turistic zone. We will take a taxi passing Centro Habana to arrive to El Vedado, where we finish.

Plus de conseils
Most of the places we will visit don´t belong to the jewish community today and are abandoned. All located in the non restored sector in Old Havana and in El Vedado. Sort of archaeology tour.
