Au programme

I live in the middle of the vineyard, in a small 1940's farmhouse. We'll meet there and head out on a walking tour of my family's historic ranch. 80 acres are planted to grapes and twice as many are in oak woodlands. Our property is in a hidden valley off of Chalk Hill Road, the famous wine growing region where smooth aromatic Cabernet Sauvignon is famously grown, with Verité, Lancaster and Chalk Hill Winery as neighbors. The walk passes by the foot of landmark Chalk Hill, then up a ridge to views of Mt St Helena, Geyser Peak, and an incredible sanctuary under the oaks overlooking the Russian River as it twists and turns through the unaccessible stretch from Alexander Valley to Healdsburg. It is a rare opportunity to visit with a 6th generation land steward who has dedicated her life to continuing her family's tradition of culture and agriculture in Sonoma County. Following the hike, we'll head to Jimtown Store to taste in a private tasting room - not open to the public - three of my award winning wines hand-crafted from carefully selected vineyard rows at Warnecke Ranch. Jimtown prepares a specialty mezza platter for us with local cheese and meat pairings.
