Ce que vous allez faire

Our walking tour through history starts at Waterfront Park and heads south to the famous Charleston battery. There we spend time relaxing in the shade of 300-year-old Live Oak trees as the cool ocean breeze keeps us comfortable – while we chat about the very colorful history of White Point Gardens and the early fort of Charles Towne. Always on the shady side of the street – we stroll up Meeting Street past its beautiful mansions, down several other history packed avenues revealing everything from slave markets, to massive churches, historic theaters, and even the very balcony George Washington stood on just 227 years ago as he addressed the people of Charleston. Of course, along the way we’ll see beautiful window boxes, antebellum homes, and no shortage of buildings where much of the history you read about in school actually happened. When we’re finished we’ll end up very close to where we started at waterfront park. None the worse for wear, and the proud new owners of the most valuable souvenir you can take home from your trip – knowledge. Please keep in mind, the tour could last between 2 and 2.5 hours depending on several factors including questions, photos, and traffic.

Did you know that Charleston SC is the only historic city in America with no replica history? That’s right, every piece of history here is real. That’s the actual railing George Washington held in 1791. Passion is the only word to describe how I feel about the rich history of Charleston South Carolina. I’m a southern boy at heart. I’m also one of the few people in Charleston licensed by the city to take people on tours. That passion for history, the love of a smaller intimate teaching experience, and the historic detail I get to show you is why I love doing what I do!

Le lieu

On our stroll through Charleston’s Historic District, we’ll see homes from before the revolutionary war. We’ll stand under the trees where 30 pirates were hung, and we’ll hold in our hands the same door knob that George Washington held. But only on this Airbnb experience will you see a famous piece of Paris mounted on the roof of a house.
