Au programme

Our guided kayak tour (including fully guided beach walk :) ) begins at a public launch site just North of the bridge to Fort De Soto Park. I do exclusively small group tours so no worries about keeping up with a large, noisy group or not being able to ask questions or hear about the wildlife & environment!

Everything is provided including life jackets & dry bags. We'll also do a quick intro to paddling for an easy day on the water!

After that we'll head out onto the water & into the Preserve! The Preserve is a beautiful calm environment with plenty of wildlife & a very interesting ecosystem! We'll discuss not only that eco-system, how it functions, & what its composed of, but also the history of the preserve!

From the shallow seagrass flats to the large mangrove islands to the pristine beaches of Shell Key itself this tour will cover it all, including traveling through some mangrove tunnels (with friendly tides :) ) We'll also look for and talk about some of our incredible wildlife in the Preserve including dolphins, manatees, & other various fish & bird life!

We'll paddle over to Shell Key itself, hop out, & do a fully guided beach walk looking at our crabs & shells that live there!

From our kayaks we'll be able to see a few different St. Pete landmarks & we'll discuss their history as well as some recommendations for places to eat & things to do while you're here!

Hi I'm Nick! I love the water and being outdoors!
I own the company Liberty Outdoors Kayaks. We're the most popular kayak tour on Airbnb in St. Petersburg and our reviews speak for themselves!
I've been kayaking the Shell Key Preserve area in St. Petersburg for several years. I've explored the various mangrove islands and tunnels in the preserve and fished the area extensively. I also have done research on and have lots of experience with the wildlife in the preserve and caught most of the species of fish that live here. I'm excited to show you our beautiful environment!

Le lieu

We'll be in the beautiful Shell Key Preserve kayaking amongst the mangrove islands and across the shallow seagrass flats with a quick stop to walk along the beach and collect shells. During the summer months we also may be able to travel through several mangrove tunnels on the islands!

Nick's kayak tour is a great way to see a special area near St. Pete beach. We had some amazing wildlife interactions (those cormorants!) and the beach walk was wonderful. Nick provides a great history of the island and environmental changes that have occurred while also giving us insight into the animal behavior he has observed in the area.

Nick and the whole experience was great! Really enjoyable day kayaking with a super knowledgeable and passionate host. Saw some amazing wild life (dolphins, sharks, rays, cormorants) up close and personal. Nick knows a lot about the area and shares it in an accessible way. Would absolutely recommend to friends and family.

Nick was a gem. Nick was personable, inclusive of everyone, was knowledgeable and extremely patient; seeing as we had a pair of toddlers amongst us, ours. Thankfully our gremlins didn’t deter Nick from giving us a great tour.

Nick did a great job of making us comfortable with the kayaks, and describing the area, flora and fauna. We had perfect weather but I am sure Nick would do the right thing and cancel a trip if wind or weather made the experience less than safe. Greatly enjoyed it!
