Ce que vous allez faire
After a one and a half hours ride from Vienna, we reach the base camp of the nature park. We pay a small entry fee* and start our hike. The first part is mostly downhill, passing by several waterfalls carrying more or less water, depending on season and weather conditions. The rest of the trail is quite evenly following the river, mostly on narrow wooden bars. Along the way, we find many stony and sandy beaches, perfect for a swim or a lunch break in the middle of nature. 1,5 hours later we reach the mountain hut - a break can be made either there or along the trail. After visiting the last waterfall we make our way back through a pleasant shady forest road. In the end, we take a scenic train to reach our starting point at the base camp (10-minute ride), before heading back to Vienna. PLEASE NOTE: this is an alpine trail. You must be used to hiking alpine trails (rocky, stony, rooted terrain) and to steep ascents and descents. You should have a good fitness level in order to master this hike. If this does not apply to you I strongly recommend to choose one of my other tour options. *Please note: The entry fee of EUR 6,--(maintenance and train ticket) is extra and has to be paid directly at the base camp. If you cannot find your preferred date in the calendar, please contact me for further options or have a look at my other beautiful tours!
I'm the founder of Das Leben spüren - Embrace Life, a company organizing guided hiking tours and excursions for travellers, expats and locals. Already before that, I was organizing similar trips on a voluntary basis for a global expat network. I am also a professional hiking guide. I love meeting people from all over the world as much as I love nature. Combining both and showing foreigners around my beautiful home country is what I enjoy most.
Ce qui est inclus

This trip leads us to the stunningly beautiful Ötschergräben, also called the “Grand Canyon of Austria”. The water of the river dazzels and sparkles in all shades of green and the mountain scenery is just breathtaking. Not to mention the many waterfalls along the way. The best: it is possible to plunge into the river! The summit of the Ötscher mountain is 1.893 meters high.
