Au programme

Since the tea ceremony begins with a meal, let 's enjoy "Ninja lunch" first. This lunch is a Japanese specialty dish of only vegetables without using any animal products. Even Vegans, you can eat with confidence.

Next let's enjoy Japanese confectionary. Many Japanese confectionary express the seasons, they use rice and beans, are zero in fat, and is very good for health.

Next, let's watch "Otemae" by the host.
"Otemae" is a ritual performance in which we turn the ordinary act of making tea into a series of beautiful movements. Because of this Otemae, Sado is not a mere act of eating and drinking but can be called traditional art.

Next, let’s enjoy Matcha.
The sprouts of tea leaves are shded from the sun a month before harvest. The tea leaves are carefully grown in the shade, then picked and dried. Every stem and vein is removed so that only the flesh of the leaves remains. Finally, the leaves are milled by a storn mill to become fine matcha tea powder.

Finally, guests can try to drink tea. The host will teach you how to make Matcha carefully.

Afterwords, there is a special gift from the host. Please look forward to enjoying this experience.

My wife and I are regular visitors to Tokyo, but complete novices to the Japanese Tea Ceremony. I can tell you this; the experience with Yoko was one of the highlights of our trip. Yoko was so kind, sincere and knowledgeable. We immediately felt welcome and cared for, and appreciated Yoko's deep commitment to the practice of tea ceremony. As a novice I must say, that it is not only about drinking tea, it is so much more. It has to do with a way of living, hosting and entertaining either as host or guest. We found the experience incredibly enriching and one that would certainly impact us in our own social circles back home. Bravo and thank you Yoko - plus the piano music you played warmed us to the core! Highly recommended!

*Japanese follows Making and having Matcha in a modern yet authentic Japanese way with Yoko-san was a BLAST! Although I can’t say enough but would like to extend my sincere gratitude for her dedication to serve her guests and her talented husband who happened to be participating in the ceremony. She is one of those who never cease to amaze you - not only the Matcha but I also got to enjoy her meticulously prepared Japanese lunch which I actually didn’t expect and found it inviting. I can’t describe well in my words but I believe anyone who is interested in Japanese food, tea, potteries can enjoy this unique experience! If you’re looking for a place to have a Japanese tea(plus bonus lunch) in a relaxed way, this is the best experience you’ll ever have! Here are highlights: - Yoko-san’s soulful vegetarian-friendly lunch - How to make and drink Matcha, and its gentle taste - Unexpected versatile performances.. etc! Thank you so much again for having me today!
