I have extensive experience in traditional Japanese Shibori and other resist dyeing techniques using indigo and other natural dyes to create a range of unique pieces. I’m passionate about taking Shibori to a new level with new stitch techniques and a broad range of plant dyes to produce interesting and colourful textiles. I use daily meditation to put me in the right frame of mind to be creative.

Au programme

You’ll be learning all about Shibori, a Japanese resist dyeing technique for creating patterns in cloth by stitching, binding, and clamping. I’ll teach you traditional stitched and bound resist dyeing, including ne maki (bead binding), ori-nui (teeth), maki-age (stitched motifs), and kumo (spider web). This is for beginners but all levels are welcome. The studio is small and I share it with another maker so groups are limited to six people. You are welcome to take pictures of my space and work.
