We stayed here for the weekend while visiting my family in the area. It was a beautiful property with plenty of space, including a playroom for the kids! We would definitely recommend this place!

Fun house to spend our girlfriend weekend. Much of the house is original. We enjoyed the town and surrounding area as well.

Beautiful home that's well equipped for any family! The bedrooms were comfortable and roomy. We had room for family meals and visits with nice evenings on the deck and patio. The quiet neighborhood let us rest during the stay. The town is friendly and there's a wonderful bakery close by!

Joanne was a delight to work with. Very quick to respond and had everything just perfect for a night of friends to get together and catch up. The Dakota House was the perfect place for us to stay. We could t have asked for a better experience. We will be repeat visitors and hope to stay the entire weekend another visit Thank you!

The Delaware House. We arrived in Butler, Missouri mid afternoon. The rain was intermittent now as we unloaded the Pilot. This historic two-story home sets on a corner lot. The home has charm and lots of original architectural details. The welcome sign is out surrounded with flowers, and large plants on the wrap around porch. We unlock the door and step back into time. You can enter the back door or the door on the big porch with a vintage turn door bell. We enter from the back through the kitchen. The island is the center of the kitchen. It has lots of storage area and the large stove was great for preparing meals. The rooms are spacious, with common rooms and high ceilings really providing an open feeling throughout the house. The history and original Victorian charm has been well preserved. Every room is beautifully decorated and feels like home. Taking a step back in time to the early 1900’s. Lots of beautiful hand carved wood including a gorgeous flowing staircase. This stairway is where we took pictures. Large open spaces provide old world charm with new modern conveniences. Large area rugs added to the charm. The back deck is a quiet and peaceful place to watch the birds in the morning or have coffee, but since it was a very cool and wet week-end we had our coffee inside looking out at the birds. The wooden floors, beautiful decor, and lovely setting made this place a wonderful getaway while we visited our family and celebrated the 40th anniversary. Keeping with the traditional hardwoods and lace curtains, the Delaware House has lots of charm and warmth. The living room has ample seating and the dining room can seat 10. There is a children’s play room off the dinning area. It has the older style play toys, and no TV. Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to enjoy the uniqueness of this special home. Every time you walked through a room you saw something unique and different. The beds were comfortable with a nice claw type bathtub for a relaxing soak. We will recommend the Delaware House in this special town. Our Grandfather homesteaded close to Butler, Missouri. We made precious memories with our families at the Delaware House.

This was our second stay at the house in Butler, and it was just as excellent as the last. It's the perfect setting for a quiet getaway (we use if for writing retreats), and it's an easy distance from Kansas City (an hour's drive). The house is lovely and the furnishings are extremely comfortable. Joanne is a hostess who goes the extra mile to welcome guests. We'll definitely come back.
