Perfect location for a family reunion or a multi-family get together. This 1885 mansion originally built by Ely Goddard, grandson of the founder of the Ely Copper Mines, was moved across Lake Fairlee in 1912 to its current location at the tip of Lake Fairlee. The expansive kitchen features custom cabinetry, nice appliances, and a huge center island. The great room is solid wood (floors, doors, ceiling and walls; cherry, black walnut, butternut), 11 ft ceilings, a fireplace, original light fixtures, and a domed castle style front door. Upstairs are 5 bedrooms and an 8 ft rose glass ceiling lit by the light filtering down from the cupola. Bathrooms feature walk-in tile showers, marble tile floors, and a seven foot claw foot soaking tub. A second story, three-sided balcony surrounds allows views of the lake and barns that sit on 3 acres.

We have a record player and hundreds of albums of every genre. We also have a canoe and paddles, and 2 adult and 2 infant/small child life jackets. A croquet set, and probably some horseshoes. There are some children's toys and books, as well plenty of other books in the library/dining room. There is wireless internet, and a large TV (though only for DVDs since there is no cable service or network TV access).

There is no cell phone access at the property; one has to drive about 5 minutes down the road to gain cell access. However, there is a land line phone at the house.
There are four heating zones in the house. There is no central air, just heat. Two of the four thermostats are Nest thermostats. It presses in to get to different modes and the dial turns to the right for turning up the heat and left for turning down the heat.
There is dish soap and dishwasher soap underneath the kitchen sink. There is laundry soap in the laundry room. Please always clean lint traps before drying clothes.
There are assorted and sundry items in the pantry behind the wood stove and upstairs closets for your use, extra paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies.
Check in is 2PM, and Check out is 11AM
Only reserved guests are allowed to stay over.
Please use cutting boards and NOT butcher block or soapstone counters for cutting things. There are wood cutting boards under the kitchen sink and plastic cutting boards for meat.
NO CANDLES OR INCENSE ARE ALLOWED IN THE HOUSE.
NO Food or Drinks Upstairs.
NO SMOKING ANYWHERE INSIDE THE HOUSE. If you smoke outside, please use and ashtray and dispose of cigarette butts in the garbage.
The garbage is in the pull out cabinet next to the sink. Recycling and a larger garbage can are in the barn. If you fill up the garbage please let us know and we'll make arrangements with you to throw it out. There are new garbage bags under the kitchen sink.
Please wash your dishes and put all garbage and recycling in cans prior to check out.
Please leave the house in a similar condition as found. The cleaning fee covers standards cleaning such as laundering linens, sweeping floors, cleaning baths, etc. Any additional cleaning such as, but not limited to, cleaning of food and drink spills, damage of furniture or other items, and excessive messes will levy and additional fee.
Please be kind to the records and the record player. Put albums back in their correct sleeve when not being listened to so they don't get scratch or mixed up.
