Échanges avec les voyageurs

My husband and I live in the house downstairs from the apartment which is also where my studio is located. As an artist I work in the studio most of the time, and my husband is away working on construction sites during the day.
When we are at home and not working during your stay we'd be happy spend time with you and offer our local knowledge and recommendations, otherwise your space is separate enough from ours for you to have both independence and privacy as you wish.
We enjoy to converse in the morning, but after a hard day's work we prefer to have our kitchen/lounge area to ourselves.

Le quartier

This neighbourhood houses a diverse community that welcomes and celebrates the richness of difference. Our neighbourhood is a mix of creatives, conservatives and alternatives, ages and ethnicities, is arty and outspoken, LGBTQI friendly, laid back and hipster, DIY-ers and coffee roasters, conservationists and renovators, as well as the 'new', more affluent residents who have chosen to live here because of this.
The area is Res 1 which means there is a protection on the houses as it is the largest number of wooden built houses of a certain era, in the southern hemisphere, which makes it an interesting place to walk around.

We have a huge park (Grey Lynn Park) down the road for jogging walking and cycling. There is a green walkway from this park through to the waterfront at Cox's Creek.

There are so many award-winning resturants and cafes literally around the corner, that one never needs to cook. The prices vary from cheap-eats at the excellent Ponsonby Food hall to very fine dining with Internationally recognised chefs. We are happy to advise on where to eat and shop and what to see.
We have lived here in Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) Aotearoa ( New Zealand) all of our lives and so we are very knowledgable not only about our city, but also all the amazing and beautiful places, on both coasts, outside of the city, that you may wish to explore.

Transports

Public transport is available at each end of our street and buses leave at least every 10mins.

Free parking is available on the street outside the house.

Autres remarques

As we are mere minutes from restaurants cafes and shopping along Ponsonby Road, the arty/edgy/alternative scene of 'K Rd. (Karangahape Rd., just around the corner from us) or sporting events at Eden Park, you can walk to most places. Even the fabulous downtown waterfront area is only a 25min. walk away.
However we are also conveniently situated close to public transport and have free parking outside the house on the road.

If you like cycling we are right by the Auckland Cycleway which gives easy access to Auckland's cool recently developed waterfront area. We can help with the hiring of bicycles.

The Auckland contemporary art, music, dance and performance scenes are just on our doorstep.

As a practicing and teaching artist who has qualified through Elam School of Art (University of Auckland), for a small fee I offer art tours to our local private and public galleries .

Public transport is available at each end of our street and buses leave at least every 10mins.

Free parking is available on the street outside the house.

Karena was a very warm, welcoming host and her home is lovely. Perfect size for a small family, with two bedrooms - a double and twin - two bathrooms and a living area. Breakfast provided by Karena was delicious, and her tips for sightseeing spots in Auckland very helpful. House is also in a great location - walking distance from the CBD.
