Come stay in our modern garden level private apartment on Capitol Hill! Perfect for couples or a small family. We are two blocks from Metro, a block from groceries, and 5 blocks from Eastern Market and the restaurants and bars on Barracks Row. Just 13 blocks to the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, and the beginning of the National Mall where you can find most of the Smithsonian Museums. And now our apartment comes with two Capital Bikeshare keys!
Our newly constructed garden-level studio apartment is bright and well-lit with several windows and full-view doors. The main living area gives you a queen size bed, a couch that opens into a full size futon, a chest of drawers, a television, and a dining table.
The galley kitchen has a two-burner, induction stove; microwave; toaster; and small refrigerator. It is stocked with plates, glasses, utensils, pots and pans, a kettle, and basic cooking tools. Most importantly, there is a coffee maker and a french press to help you get your day started.
The bathroom offers a walk-in shower and vanity with plenty of storage. We are happy to supply sheets and towels, and have some toiletries on hand, but do endeavor to supply everything so we suggest you bring what you need/like.
For those traveling with kids, we have a pack and play / portable crib available, we'd be happy to set you up with some toys to borrow from our 6 year old and 1 year old, and you should note that we have a large playground just across the street.
Accès des voyageurs
Guests access is easy with an electronic key code. You enter through our downstairs doorway, where a shared hallway (we live upstairs) leads you to your apartment, which comes with its own lock and key. Your space is in the rear of the building, so you won't get any noise from the street and will get good morning light.
There are two additional outdoor exits in the suite, but both should be considered private except in the case of an emergency.
For more information once your reservation is confirmed, the Manual should become available, which will give you some more details on the space, getting in, and other info. (e.g., Wifi network and password).
Échanges avec les voyageurs
Other than perhaps running into us in the common hallway when we come down to access our (private) storage and laundry area, your space is yours. You won't have to navigate our clothes in the dresser or closet or our toiletries in the bathroom. We are equally happy making suggestions for places to go and things to do while you're in D.C. or just leaving you to go about your business. Of course, we are right upstairs to troubleshoot any issues.
Our family, a five-year old, a one-year old, and a large yellow Labrador retriever named Daffodil, lives upstairs. The ceiling of your space is insulated for sound, but these houses are old and our kitchen is right above the apartment you might hear impact sound like footsteps, and some muffled voices, especially in the morning when we are all up. Nights are very quiet, however, as we all sleep two floors up from where you will be sleeping.
You won't see one in the photos, but we do have a TV for your use. It has access to all the applications offered by Roku, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOGO, Hulu, and others. You have to log in using your own accounts, however. The TV has an antenna which will pick up local broadcast stations (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CW, Univision, and some others).
We have two Capital Bikeshare memberships for our guests to use. These allow you to take bikes out from docks all over the city and use them for up to 30 mins at a time (you can return them to any dock). When you return a bike to a dock, you can simply grab another and go. A great way to explore the area!
Finally, this is a garden level unit in an early 1900's building, so the ceilings do not soar. If you are particularly tall (e.g., if you have ever played professional basketball or volleyball), it's a good bet you would have to crook your neck to not hit your head on the ceiling.
- Non-smokers only.
- No parties / large gatherings.
- The backyard exit is private and should not be used unless an emergency arises.
- All doors and windows need to be locked when you're not there.
- Please use the provided cutting boards and not our wood countertop for food preparation.
Si vous annulez jusqu'à 24 heures avant le voyage, vous recevez un remboursement intégral. En cas d'annulation au cours des 24 heures précédant le voyage, la première nuit n'est pas remboursable.
We're a small Capitol Hill family with roots in the Pac West and Northeast. We've been in DC for over a decade and every time we think about moving we think about how few places can give us the sense of place and community we have here in our corner of "the Hill."
