This is a fantastic spot. The apartments were extremely clean and airy with a great view. The hostess was lovely and she, together with her husband, provided excellent recommendations and assistance on restaurants, drivers, etc. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The only slight negative to point out is that you have to climb several flights of stairs. This was zero issue for me, but I traveled with my 80 year old mother and it was much harder on her. Just something to consider for some travelers, but this is truly a terrific airbnb.

This historical home is beautiful. You have air conditioner in every room. Rooms are spacious. If you like to cook bring your spices because it is hard to come by. Leyanis will shop for chicken, fruits etc or you or you can have her cook for you. She is a good cook. We were happy with everything she cooked. Knowing a little Spanish will help with communication. Her place is lovely and her family is also lovely.

Communication was excellent from the first message to bringing us all the way to the airport as we were with twin babies. Leyanis and her husband have been super friendly, helpful and quick, from making restaurant reservations for us, bringing bottled water to storing our baby stroller. Apartment is perfectly located, walking distance to everywhere in Old Havana. It looks a bit more grand on the photos but has everything as described & shown and was very clean. Aircon and hot water worked fine. Beware of the four storeys without elevator.

We arrived in a torrential downpour with a river running down the street. But as soon as we'd climbed the stairs to the apartment we were in a different world. With elegant charm the apartment is spacious and well furnished. The lounge opens on to a balcony with great views along to the sea in one direction and the dome of the Museum of the Revolution in the other. Close to all the main sights in the Old City, it's in a great location and has plenty of places to eat nearby. Leyanis and her husband were extremely friendly and helpful, especially when it came to organising a taxi for the five of us to get to the airport. We'd be very happy to stay here next time we visit Havana.

Leyanis pays attention to detail. We had a lot of back and forth communication before I got to Cuba because this was our first out of many stops. My Spanish was practically non-existent so I needed to make sure I had my bearings right. I worried for nothing - Leyanis had every detail down to a science. I was able to navigate my way through the airport, get a taxi and have downloaded maps ready because of her detailed instructions before I left the US. The apartment is separate from where Leyanis lives and so we had to go around the corner to retrieve the key. However, she was there waiting and ready with cash just in case we had a problem with enough money to pay the taxi. That is the extent of her going beyond what is expected for her guests. The apartment is on the third floor and there are a lot of steps to navigate. The stairway is wide (looks like marble) and the apartment itself had an old grand Spanish feel to it. I loved it. Two of the rooms have small verandas that look out on the streets below, and the sites around this central location. The rooms are cool and we slept with the double doors to the verandas open to get the breeze. The living room has a larger veranda that you could pull a chair on and look out at the square and the Malecon. This apartment is extremely central. It is a few blocks from everything. We used Maps.me (download before Cuba and use offline), to navigate the streets - easy! Leyanis and Manny gave us many suggestions and designed a tour with one of their professor friends (Pablo) for us, but we were getting tickets for the Viazul and missed the tour. In the evening we were still able to meet with Pablo and have a great conversation and view some of the art in his gallery down the street. There are a lot of great eating spots around - walking distance (el Cabon, Dona Eutimia). We walked the Malecon the first night (long but beautiful walk) and sat in the square listening to music. This location was also cheap (7 CUC) to get a taxi to take you to the Fort which can be seen from the apartment. Leyanis made our stay really wonderful by eliminating the pesky problems that can eat away at your time (getting us a case of water, getting change so we don't only have large notes). One tip - if you are planning to take the Viazul to other cities book early as they often sell out. It may not be a good idea to try getting tickets on the day of travel. Also, get to the bus station at least an hour before to check in and to check luggage. We thought that for some trips taking a Collectivo would be more efficient than the Viazul - the cost works out about...

We booked Aguiar 51 at the last minute. We knew it was in Old Havana but had no idea how strategically it was located. When we made the reservation, Leyanis gave us suggestions on tours, where to exchange money, details on how to get to Aguiar 51 and how much it should cost. When we arrived, Layanis' husband Marais let us in, showed us around, and gave us an excellent suggestion for dinner. Her place was just as advertised. It was spacious, clean, comfortable, air conditioned, and had hot water all the time. There was adequate linen and even blankets if needed. Breakfast was additional at $5CUC per person per day and was worth every penny. It was a very hardy Cuban breakfast. We were so full we didn't need lunch and I have three 17 y/o sons that are 6 feet tall. The apartment was a third floor walk up with balconies outside every bedroom. They were great for people watching and scenic views. It was located 2 blocks from the Malecon, and 6 blocks from Obispo street. We were a very short walk from ALL of the major sites in Old Havana. There is also a restaurant across the street and 3 more within a block and a half. If I ever get to go to Havana again, Leyanis and Aguiar 51 will be where we stay. I highly recommend staying here.
