Welcome to Catskill Getaways in Phoenicia!
It's easy to get away. Your fabulous getaway starts with a scenic drive to the Catskills and a stop at one of the farm stands for provisions. Once you breathe in this glorious mountain air and see the Esopus Creek (really a river) you'll agree -- the living is easy!
You have the best of all worlds. Catskill Getaways is a former half-acre bungalow property at the base of Woodland Valley, almost a mile from Phoenicia.
The Esopus Cottage has been thoughtfully renovated and features a nicely stocked modern kitchen, a luxurious marble bathroom with large shower, radiant heat, a separate bedroom with a queen sized-bed and quality linens. There is also a sleeping loft with a full size foam mattress which we can make ready at your request.
If you've never experienced a gas fireplace, it radiates the same heat as a fireplace without the work. There is also a private open porch and a seasonal flower / organic veggie-herb garden. There's strong wireless access.
We use high quality, non-toxic cleaning products to ease our footprint on the environment and to help guests with chemical sensitivities.
No need to compromise. It’s all good … crisp, fresh and clean lodgings, impeccable attention to your needs, a perfect location and competitively priced.
There are amenities galore. Have breakfast on your porch or backyard. Make 'smores in the fire pit. Pick salad from the vegetable garden. Visit at the Pony Bar(n). Skip rocks along the Esopus Creek. Meander along peaceful country roads. Ride a bike. Walk down the street and take a dip in the Esopus. Take advantage of the multitude of activities like tubing, skiing, swimming, fishing, hiking and much more.
Take a break from the city without having to travel far. It’s just 1 hour and 50 minutes from the George Washington Bridge to our quaint and cool hamlet of Phoenicia.
If you want to stay local, Phoenicia is self-contained with a variety of restaurants, all sorts of shops, some quirky, galleries and a community theater. We're known for our friendly, artsy and unpretentious small town charm combined with great restaurant and pub choices.
If you want to venture out, the Hudson Valley has a treasure chest of cultural offerings.
This is a perfect time for late winter / early spring activities. Hike one of the trails, or ski one of the four ski resorts in the area. Our house guide provide a range of suggestions for every mood. Relax by the Esopus Creek, take a scenic drive, check out one of the farm-to-table restaurants, get cozy in front of the gas fireplace in the cooler evenings and take in the night sky by the Pony Bar(n) at night ... restorative and magical.
While booking please remember that we have a 3-day minimum for holidays. Our rates are based on a 2 person occupancy, and we have weekday / weekend / holiday rates. Please let us know if you are bringing children and their ages to make sure we can accommodate everyone comfortably and safely. For more than two adults, or two adults not sharing a bedroom, a full size Ikea foam mattress in the sleeping loft is available. Let us know this when you book so we can have this ready for you.
One crated dog is permitted with prior approval; we charge a $50 pet fee.
There is $50 charge to replace lost keys.
And remember, if the dates don't work with the Esopus Cottage, make sure you go to our profile page on Airbnb and take a look at our other listings: the Zen Cottage and the Esopus Studio.

My husband, James and I focus on healthy living, the environment and sustainability. We enjoy the simple pleasures of living in this culturally-rich community surrounded by the majestic Catskill Forest Preserve.
Every day something in nature, a flock of turkeys, an autumn landscape, the sunset on the Esopus Creek, cukes with sparkling morning dew, the grand constellations, it causes me to stop what I am doing, take in the beauty, and focus on gratitude.
We are social and enjoy helping guests take a break from the hubbub of city life to relax, rejuvenate and reconnect with each other. We worked as professionals in advertising, publishing, environmental organizations, and as consultants for non-profits. We understand the importance of that spur-of-the-moment getaway as a way to find balance between work and play.
We give our guests total privacy, but when asked, we help our guests explore our cool and quaint hamlet of Phoenicia with its many of its hidden treasures. We'd love to share this magical place with you and have you fall in love as well.
