Nestled on 120 forest acres, Fern Glen Inn offers 5 guest rooms, each with ensuite bathroom, and our famous breakfasts every morning. Relax in tranquil surroundings and hike/snowshoe private trails, or explore Muskoka, Arrowhead & Algonquin Parks.

Le logement

A restored 1880's farmhouse, the inn offers modern comforts yet recalls a simpler time. There are five thoughtfully-appointed guest rooms, each with a queen-size bed and ensuite bathroom. Two rooms are on the ground floor with just a few steps to access, three rooms are up a full flight of stairs. Bathrooms have either a clawfoot tub, or a shower, or a tub/shower combination.

If you'd like to have your choice of available room, find our website to check availability and book online there.

Room amenities include: coffee/tea station; quality linens and towels; individual shampoo, lotion and soap; hair dryer; alarm clock/radio; ceiling and tower fans; individual heat control; room darkening blind; spacious closet; free WIFI (medium speed).

Guests also have use of a rustic cabin lounge, equipped with board games, books, wine glasses, and a real wood-burning stove. Outdoor spaces available for guests include the fire bowl, decks and seating areas, screened gazebo, hiking/snowshoeing trails, and seasonal hot tub (closed in winter). Snowshoes are available for guests to use for free on our private trails.

We are located out in the country and maintain a natural environment as much as possible, especially on the trails -- come see what "a carpet of moss" looks like or help yourself to wild raspberries or blueberries in season. You may see deer, moose, fox, beaver or other wildlife on or near the property. On a clear night, the starry sky is spectacular!

Hot, served breakfast is included with every stay and we take pride in giving you a great start to your day! Be sure to let us know in advance of any allergies or dietary restrictions and we'll do our best to meet your needs. Find our reviews on TripAdvisor to see what our guests have to say about our breakfasts.

Seasonal packages (dog sledding, snowshoeing, waterfalls picnic, Algonquin Park day trips, etc) are listed and described on our website and must be booked directly there.

Accès des voyageurs

Four of the guest rooms are located in the Coach House building, which is used for guests only. Across the deck is the Main House, where the fifth guest room is located, along with the registration desk, dining room and hosts' quarters.

The guest lounge is located in yet another building, a rustic little cabin set back from the sleeping areas.

The hot tub is on the main deck and is available to guests until 11pm daily from late-spring to mid-autumn (closed during winter months)

Échanges avec les voyageurs

As innkeepers for over 10 years, we greatly enjoy meeting people from around the corner or around the world, but we respect privacy and personal space. Our aim is to be attentive to your needs without being intrusive.

We greet guests at check-in and serve breakfast every morning and are available then to help with plans for the day or to share maps and tips. We live here and are often available at other times (just pop in to the main house or look for us outside). When our schedules permit and guests are interested, we sometimes pull up a chair at the outdoor fire bowl.

Traveling solo and doing some hiking? Let us know which trails you plan to hit and rest assured we'll keep an eye out for your return.

Autres remarques

Access to the inn from the parking lot is up a small hill and up a few steps onto the deck. Three rooms are located up a full flight of stairs. The guest lounge is set further back on the property along a grass pathway of somewhat uneven ground.

Ongoing communication with Jackie from the very moment we reserved. When we arrived the entry way was beautifully lit up with hanging lights. We were given a tour of the property and the rules of the land. We were just staying the night (arrived at 9pm and left at 8:30am) so we didn't use a lot of the facilities. We we're happy to jump into the hot tub after arriving though! Also greatly appreciated that Jackie knew we were headed to Algonquin in the morning and provided us with a map, driving directions and a catered breakfast. We were heading to lake opeongo which was 1.5 hours drive East. We've been told there are other access points to closer lakes however

Jackie and Tim are gracious and really helpful hosts. They gave us a tour and really clear instructions about the various amenities in and around the property, so we started with a walk along a trail that ended at a lovely small lake - a great walk after a long drive to get here. We grabbed take out from a local eatery they recommended and brought it back to enjoy in the outside bug free gazebo. The quiet and the tall pines are so good for the soul! The room we were in was very clean, the bathroom had all the necessities, and the bed was uber comfy! And the breakfast was Awesome!!!! Jackie loves to cook and bake and that was obvious! And their recommendations for beaches ended up with us going to Arrowhead Park which is close by and has a terrific beach. Huntsville is also about 20min away so lots of choices for dinner there too. If you want a quiet, comfortable, and beautiful getaway, try Fern Glen.

Jackie's place felt like a resort. Very cozy bedrooms equipped with anything you would need in a tranquil setting of Canadian forest. The grounds are accurate and full of nice loving touches making you feel right at home. There are multiple gazebos, a very cute guest lounge house equipped with a lot of goodies, a hot tub and a 'must experience' fire pit. The breakfast felt like we were in a gourmet restaurant and Jackie and her husband ensured that all guests (it was a full house on the weekend of our visit) are properly fed and entertained. We would definitely come back to Fern Glenn and will recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend retreat a few hours away from Toronto.

A really pretty place with lovely rooms, delicious breakfasts, and charming hosts. I slept under a nearly full moon and listened while a fox barked late night greeting. It was a magical experience in the forest, one which I thoroughly enjoyed. If you want a quiet and peaceful retreat, this is it.

It was an awesome experience staying wit Jim and Jacki during our Thanksgiving weekend. The place is very laid back and definitely provides the feel of being in the woods. Cozy room and lounge. and to top with the best is Jackie`s breakfast variety delights every morning. Jackie suggestion made the whole trip plan easy for us, from Algonquin park to huntsville and bracebridge locations. Especially there was a beaver dam flood, and Jim & jacki came all the way to guide us back home. Suggestions are if there could be little lights upto the garage at night as it gets very dark. And also if hot tub can be running more frequently. Overall amazing experience and wonderful hosts. will love to come back soon.

My husband, Jim, and I are escapees from the city. In 2005, we sold our house in Toronto, I walked away from a career in advertising, we said goodbye to all things familiar to buy a bed & breakfast "up north", and we never looked back!

For over 10 years we've been welcoming guests to Fern Glen Inn B&B. We love where we live, we love what we do, and we love meeting all sorts of people and sharing our little patch of the world with them.

When we're not taking care of guests and tending our business, we head outside to play. Hiking in Algonquin Park, swimming in one of the local lakes or rivers, snowshoeing in the winter, training for a run (or in Jim's case, a triathlon). We spend a lot of time taking care of our property but it's a labour of love.

When it comes to travel, we look for action and a bit of adventure, whether it's backcountry camping, snorkeling with sea turtles, or trekking in the Andes.
