Copper Lodge is a place to relax, slow down and immerse yourself in nature while you make special memories with the people you love. There’s hiking and swimming in summer, snow sports in winter, and year round, mountains, fresh air and dark, starry nights.

We’ve put our heart and soul into making this home a comfortable retreat unto itself. Yosemite is our backyard, but you'll wish you had more time to just stay here – cook, drink wine, sleep, read, play and disconnect right on the property.

Copper Lodge is a two-bedroom, two-bath house that sits on 20 private acres and has a river running through the property. The house was built in the 1990s and has been recently renovated. We’re located in Mariposa, CA, about three hours east of the San Francisco bay area, and about four and a half hours north of Los Angeles, CA.

Copper Lodge is conveniently located between two entrances into Yosemite National Park – the middle arch rock entrance and the south gate, which puts Yosemite valley and the Mariposa grove of giant sequoias each about an hour’s drive away. The valley is accessible year-round for 4 season fun, via the beautiful, wild and scenic Merced river canyon drive. Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Parks are also a couple of hours away.

We are eight minutes to the shops, restaurants, museums, live music and other outdoor activities in historic Mariposa, and also close to the shops and restaurants in the larger town of Oakhurst.

Our property is secluded and provides peaceful solitude. Spend the day hanging out at the river. Cool off in our outdoor bathtubs or outdoor shower. Maybe spend the afternoon reading/napping in a hammock built for 2, or sink into a comfy Adirondack chair and share a bottle of wine at sunset on the front porch. A full-sized ping-pong table and other outside games are only steps away from the kitchen and patio, and illuminated by market lights, so the entertainment can easily be continued from one spot to the next.

At the end of your day, snuggle on comfortable couches in either the indoor or outdoor living rooms. From the large deck or wraparound porch, and numerous spots around the property, take in the gorgeous sunset views, the twinkling stars at night–Mariposa has little to no light pollution, or enjoy your morning coffee while gazing at the landscapes and visiting wildlife.

The house is well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable and luxurious stay. With an open floor plan, the living room flows to the large, cook’s kitchen and dining area, bringing everyone together while cooking and socializing. The living area has plenty of room and comfortable seating to enjoy watching DVDs or shows on your Netflix and Amazon account on the flat screen television. Sit in a corner on one of the cushioned benches to read a book from the library, overlook the view from the windows and sliding glass doors, play one of the many card or board games, or snuggle into the couches and enjoy the warmth of the stone fireplace. The house also has high speed wi-fi, so you can check email if you need to.

The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, and everything you might need to create wonderful meals, plus make your coffee in the morning. (Foodies, please message us and we’d be happy to provide a list of appliances, kitchen tools and basic cooking ingredients at the house.) Prepare a delicious dinner in the fully equipped cook’s kitchen or grill on the propane BBQ and enjoy a relaxed meal outside on a warm summer evening.

The large farmhouse table seats 8 and is next to a bar area. There is a good assortment of glasses, a cocktail shaker, cocktail making supplies, electric wine opener and a blender.

The house has air conditioning and central heating and sleeps 4 adults comfortably, with a king bed in the master bedroom, a queen bed in the second room, and a comfortable queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Each bedroom has blackout blinds. The master bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom with single sink, tub and shower, and toilet. The second bedroom has a bathroom with shower, single sink and toilet. Each bathroom has towels and a hairdryer. There is a full laundry room on site, complete with laundry supplies.

Please be respectful of our home and our belongings. A lot of time and effort (and love!) has gone into making this space as comfortable as possible and we hope to share it for a long time.

Enjoy your stay!

Accès des voyageurs
Use our place as a base camp for exploring the park and Mariposa County, or simply settle in and retreat here. The whole property is yours to roam as you wish. You'll find everything you need to have the best time hanging out with family or friends and just relaxing.

One of the highlights of our property is our river, which is accessed by a well-marked and groomed trail that's also perfect for taking a morning or evening stroll on. If you venture there and go a bit further downstream, you can find lots of swimming holes and waterfalls to splash and swim in. (Depending on the year, the river typically runs from October to July or August.)

Autres remarques
This house sits privately on acreage surrounded by nature. As in any mountainous setting, wild animals could visit the property. We typically see lots of deer, rabbits and birds. Occasionally, there are snakes and there have been late night sightings of bears, bobcats and coyotes. They're very shy and try to stay away from humans.

The river on the property is seasonal. It usually flows October to July, depending on annual snowpack and rainfall.

Burn restrictions are in effect throughout the year. Please, NO OUTDOOR FIRES, EXCEPT IN DESIGNATED AREAS.

Mariposa, Californie, États-Unis

Mariposa County, Home of Yosemite, is known for its amazing scenery, wealth of outdoor attractions, and historic, gold rush towns. Mariposa is Spanish for "butterfly", after the flocks of monarch butterflies seen overwintering here by early explorers. Mariposa has retained the small town charm of a bygone era, so you won’t see strip malls or chain stores, and it remains one of a handful of California mountain towns without a stop light.

Our house is about 8 minutes from the center of town. It's located at the end of a well maintained dirt road (no 4x4 wheel drive is typically needed, even in winter.) You'll have lots of privacy, and peace and quiet to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

Our property is beautiful in every season as nature changes her colors. During the summer, the weather is dry and hot. Fall and spring are wonderfully mild, with daytime temps in the 70s and 80s, and nighttime temps falling into the 50s. Rain is a likely event. Every winter, we typically receive several inches of snow on several occasions, which melts away within a day or so.

If you do plan to visit in winter, (which we highly recommend as the park is stunning at this time of year), check the weather forecast and make plans accordingly. If we're receiving 2" of snow at our elevation of 2400', Yosemite will be receiving a lot more, and chain restrictions will likely be in effect.

Hi and very nice to meet you! My husband Jon and I are looking forward to welcoming you to our river house in the woods and doing everything we can to make your stay as comfortable, easy and efficient as possible. We know how precious vacation time is and we want to help you make the most of it–through both our physical space and the concierge-level of service we strive to provide. I grew up in England, and moved to California for art school in my early twenties, having spent time on the east coast first. I’m now in marketing. Jon is a third-generation Californian and runs a design-build business. When we’re not working, we enjoy traveling, both around the States and internationally. When traveling, we use AirBnB as much as we can. We also love being out in nature and get away to camp and backpack frequently. We divide our time between the San Francisco bay area and Mariposa. Yosemite is one of our favorite places in the world and we’re passionate about sharing our knowledge, appreciation and love for the park and surrounding areas. Our motto? Work hard, play hard. We’re thoughtful about our home environment and setting it up well. The house is in a beautiful setting that’s secluded and quiet and provides everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Some of our most cherished times have been spent here–from gatherings with friends and family, to quiet, romantic weekends, with just the two of us. Please don’t hesitate to message me at any time if you have any questions. We look forward to having the pleasure of meeting you and helping you enjoy your time in Mariposa and Yosemite as much as we do!
