Description

Le logement

Tannery Cottage has classic English charm, with original flagstone floors, the wonky beams and oak flooring, this is a 19th century gem of a holiday cottage. It is very romantic and full of 'olde england' warmth, and it is situated in the middle of beautiful Burford. The modern, open plan kitchen / diner with its view to the garden is most welcoming, while the living room with its woodburner is perfectly snug - and all with underfloor heating! The bedrooms upstairs are beautifully styled with top-quality furnishings and linen each with unique touches creating a truly authentic Cotswolds' experience. This cottage is perfect for a family, ideal of a couple or two couples and we think it is hard not to imagine yourself returning to this cute hideaway time and time again. Utterly Delightful!!

More about the ACCOMMODATION:
Entrance through to kitchen / diner.
Kitchen, well equipped, and similarly attractive; large gas range, with 5 hobs, multiple ovens and a grill, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer plus a washer/dryer. There is a stable door to the garden. The Dining Area is perfect - a lovely circular dining table overlooking the garden with ample seating and attractive Welsh dresser to complete the look!
Living Room, cosy and gorgeous, with log burner, sofa, two armchairs, large TV with DVD player and games.

Upstairs (quite steep stairs)
Bedroom One, with a lovely vaulted ceiling, with a double bed, (4ft 6in) chest of drawers and wardrobe area.
Bathroom with bath, shower over WC and washbasin
Bedroom Two with double bed (4ft 6in), chest of drawers and wardrobe area.

Second Floor
There is a third bedroom with two single beds. The stairs to this room are steep and therefore not suitable for the less mobile or very young. There is hanging space and a small chest of drawers.

Please note that the cottage is best suited for 4 people.

Le quartier

Burford is possibly one of the most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town.

The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The fine church is a real gem with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptismal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits!

With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.

Places to eat include the world famous Huffkins Tea Rooms, The Bay Tree and Lamb pubs which serve good food, along with The Angel another good restaurant. There is even a very good curry house.

We had a wonderful stay, the cottage has everything you need and nothing you don't need. Small cozy, very classic cottage with a wonderful wood stove for the evenings.

List description was accurate. The stairs took getting used to for the children, but they managed. Only fear was that they would wake up in the middle of the night and fall down the stairs. A stairgate could be offered? Loved living in the centre of Burford, such a great holiday destination. The house was perfect for our family, although the bathroom was tiny. Any negatives are very slight as it was delightful.

I work for Manor Cottages! We are a boutique cottage agency specialising in holiday properties in the Cotswolds and Bath region, an area about 1 -2 hours to the west of London (depending on where you are travelling to of course). We visit and and check all of our cottages and in many cases actually manage them too. Either way, you can be certain of the standard and style and description of the property being of a high standard and if it is more basic then we'll make sure you know this.
We're friendly, we're approachable and (of course) we're based in the area so we know it like the back of our hands. What we're not, however, is a large multi-national company stuck in a call centre with thousands of cottages - you will be pleased to know.
Finally you'll be pleased to know that any property we advertise really exists! Not that we're pointing fingers at anyone out there, but we do get to hear of some horror stories of cottages not existing when a customer arrives..... imagine that.
Anyway, we are here to help you and help you get the cottage holiday you want and are looking for.
