This open-air, off the grid, unique house, is situated on a spectacular jungle, food and flower garden property. Town and beach are close. There are lots of local animals and the place extremely relaxing, this is a truly unique sleeping experience!

Le logement

The house has no walls and has 360 view. The structure is simple, but beautiful with a luxury style and feeling. The property is one hectare big and is shared with 2 tree decks (max 4 people in total) and a central kitchen and yoga/chill area. There are places to make a bonfire or have a BBQ on the property and a small river runs along the side...very nice :-). There are lots of local animals and (edible) plants and big trees on the property and it is a great place to take pictures, take a hammock and garden tea or juice and just relax, or explore all the flora and fauna. You can also borrow yoga mats, cards or board games and there are some books too. If you really want to get creative, there are supplies for wood working and painting too.

Accès des voyageurs

You will be able to access everything on the property, including some of the food I am growing. There is a shared bathroom behind the kitchen and normally you can join breakfast of dinner for a little extra, but the use of your own cooking can be discussed too. Furthermore, there are books, games, hammocks, wood, paint and paper, garden benches, and a bbq / bonfire place.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I am very willing to help you! I can arrange and book tours, therapies and treatments, but also all kinds of other stuff. I know my way around here very well and love to see you enjoy this great place to the max! I personally like to meet people and maybe have a chat or a glass of wine, but also like it when people want to stay private and enjoy each others company. If you would be interested in a very local experience and just want to join me in my daily events, please let me know...you will make friends quickly and easy and will experience the local life from the inside.

Autres remarques

There is very little electricity...about 1-2 hours per day I run a generator for the fridge and washing machine or maybe charge phones etc. There is good phone/internet connection (on phone), but no WiFi (yet). The path to the property gets a little muddy if it rains a lot, so boots are necessary sometimes. There are lots of animals...not only monkeys, but snakes and spiders too...you will have to be aware. The house is completely open, so you may not sleepwalk or get too drunk...you can fall (URL HIDDEN) no children allowed.

If you're looking for an "out of the box" experience you will remember long after you have returned home, look no further because this is it. Marlene is a wonderful, caring host who will ensure that you have everything you need as well as a fantastic and safe time in the jungle. She knows her stuff and can answer any question, and has created a jungle paradise one could never experience on their own. She has created her glorious retreat using wood from her own land, complete with custom trash cans and outdoor bathrooms that are amazingly comfortable and in private. Plus she will cook your meals or tell you where to get the best restaurant meals, your choice. It takes a little bit of time to get used to the jungle atmosphere so I would plan for a minimum of two nights and 3 to 5 is ideal ( or longer!), if you really want to unwind and decompress. Things to be aware of: - The location is not accessible by car. There is a four minute easy walk through the jungle to get there but there is no artificial light so without a flashlight it's pitch black. Something to keep in mind if you go out to dinner and come back after dark. Also, the accommodations (except for the main house) all require climbing a ladder to get in and out of bed so if you don't want to deal with that be sure to rent the main house. Plus, the main house has its own private bathroom and is really wonderful. Completely worth it. None of the accommodations have walls, so it really feels like you are completely in nature without having to sleep on the ground with nothing over your head. Mosquito nets protect you from bugs when you're asleep but once out of the mosquito net you need to keep the bug spray handy at all times. I got a lot of mosquito bites the first morning because I got out of the mosquito net and forgot to spray myself first thing. I don't care for bug spray so Marlene gave me some lotion that smelled good and really worked. I didn't get any more bites as long as I use that lotion. If you want to see wildlife outside of the rescue centers, including toucans, monkeys, hummingbirds, frogs, and maybe even a sloth, this is the place. We even brought our little dog, who had a great time playing with her dogs and exploring the jungle. Once you get inside her camp you won't want to leave. So spend a few days there, let her cook your meals for a nominal fee, and simply unplug. You will emerge from the jungle invigorated, relaxed and feeling likeyou have been to another world, because you truly have. I brought way too many clothes and things will get damp there, so next time I'm coming with simply a backpack. I didn't know that things wet with salt...

People and animals fascinate me. I love traveling, hanging out with nice people and talk about life, enjoy nature, drink a good glass of wine, surf, walk, sail, many other sports and one of my main hobbies is photography.
