When I first came to this wonderful Acadian area in 2000, I fell in love with the beauty of the land, the people, music and food. It felt like "home". Though I do not speak the language, my mother was French Canadian and everyone looked and sounded like family and were so welcoming and friendly. My first thoughts were that it was like stepping back in time 40-50 years. A simpler time when people weren't so stressed and preoccupied with a million thoughts/things to do. It hasn't changed much since then. The best part of it (sometimes the most challenging) is that there's no easy way to get there from here. I drive 14 hours 2-3 times each year to visit. If it was easier to access it wouldn't be the hidden gem it is.
