A unique guest house in the woods of Maine. Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park but removed from the hustle and bustle.
This small modern house has everything you need for an awesome stay in Downeast Maine: the most comfortable queen sized bed, a full kitchen and access to the herb garden, a full bathroom, an outdoor shower (in season), and an indoor fireplace for cool evenings. There is also a lawn where you can play Kubb in the day and stargaze at night. There is a fold out couch that will accommodate a third person but be aware that the house is open plan without separation between bedroom and living room. There is another rental on the property that is the house we formally lived in.
From your house, you can walk (5 mins) to Lamoine Beach- a quiet, sandy ocean beach with amazing views of Mount Desert Island where you can hangout, swim, skip rocks or cook lobsters and clams. You can also walk, run or bike the 1.5 mile trail which starts at your house, passes through a giant blueberry patch and ends at beautiful Blunt's Pond where you can swim with locals at the public landing. (You can also drive there- 5 mins).
The house is located about 15 minutes drive from Ellsworth (groceries, restaurants, shops) and 40 minutes from Bar Harbor (restaurants, bars, music, shops, whale watching, Acadia National Park) and 40 minutes from Winter Harbor and Schoodic Peninsula (restaurants, art, music, hiking , swimming, biking and authentic, quiet fishing villages)
While there is no public transportation available, we are glad to give you local advice about places to eat, hike, swim, and explore. After a day of activities, return to your quiet, starry skied retreat in the woods.
Bring your bicycles, rent kayaks locally, swim in fresh and salt water. High speed wireless internet and radio available. No TV. Sheets and towels included.
If you see holes in the schedule that are less than the 3 day minimum that you are interested in contact us and we will see if we can accommodate.

Échanges avec les voyageurs
We just moved out of the other house on the property and it is now another rental so we are not right next door. We are just a text or phone call away and are happy to chat and make recommendations or even get together for a coffee or glass of wine.
We look forward to meeting you.
Please, please drive slowly on our quiet, residential road.
Val and I met at College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor in 1994. After I graduated, we decided to make this area our home. Spring 2014, we welcomed Guy into our family.
We have worked in the Bar Harbor area on lobster boats, in restaurants, as a carpenter, running a summer camp and teaching . We moved out to Lamoine in 2001 and built our house and guesthouse ourselves. They are both modern in design as we both have an interest in modern architecture.
We own Peacock Builders which builds really cool custom houses and Val is an education consultant. In the summer, we enjoy being outside as much as possible- either on our sailboat or hiking, biking or running. We travel when we can and first used Airbnb to stay in Paris. We love the idea of living like locals and enjoyed getting the inside scoop from our host. As hosts we have really enjoyed getting to meet people from around the country and around the world.
