We have been renovating this space ourselves, so there may be a few small projects left (like trim) that we are working on between guests. The space features preserved pocket doors, restored hardwood floors, and other unique features are intentionally highlighted and features granite counter tops and a large bathroom.

This is a historic 1900s duplex that has been renovated with modern updates. Enjoy flowing space, restored hardwood floors, spacious living areas, 2 bedrooms, and large front porch. The master bedroom is very large, with a queen bed (brand new, traditional spring mattress) that sleeps two. Although the second bedroom is smaller, it also features a queen (same mattress style). There is also an ottoman that folds out into a single memory foam bed. This option can be made available when adding a 5th person, but it does lack the privacy of the other two bedrooms.

The best part is the stunning new bathroom! With gorgeous porcelain and marble tile, modern dual-sink vanity, dual-flush toilet, and a large, custom-built shower with dual shower heads- Perfect for a romantic getaway!

PLEASE note: there is a non functioning fireplace in this unit. We have had a couple people with smoke sensitivities who have been able to smell "smoke" from this on hot&humid days. We may have other units available if this could be an issue for you.

The downstairs unit of this duplex is 100% private, with a separate entry on the shared front porch. You'll have tons of room to spread out and make yourself at home with an eat-in kitchen, separate dining area that opens onto the living room, private bathroom, and spacious bedrooms.

Free parking both out back (accessed via alley) & on street in front.

Guests can come and go as they please. You can have total privacy.

If you are a more social person, we'd love to meet you! Maybe we can meet you at the house and walk to the square together?

This duplex is in a prime location in the Fountain Square neighborhood in Indianapolis. Walk out the front door and Shelby street is to your left. Turn left and you'll walk right into the heart of Fountain Square, where you can rent a Pacers BikeShare, explore the Cultural Trail, and enjoy dining at one of the many locally owned restaurants that make us the Top Ten Best Neighborhoods in the U.S. for Local Food (Zagott 2014).


Basic common sense in gentrifying neighborhoods-
Yes, some neighbors' houses are ugly. Ugly does not mean unsafe. We know all of our neighbors, who are good, hard-working people, and hope you won't judge a book by its cover! We feel lucky to have such good neighbors, even if they might not be rich. Please treat everyone in our community with the same respect that you would like.

Our neighborhood has been undergoing a major transformation over the past decade, and as you walk around you'll see a mix of modern & historic, brand new & run-down, and a rich mix of people that make our neighborhood so awesome and interesting. It's a very close-kit neighborhood with stellar community collaboration, which supports the entrepreneurial spirit. That's why we love it here so much!

This is not the suburbs. If historic, gentrifying, and eclectic urban centers make you uncomfortable, you might be better off at the Hyatt. For the rest of us urban-lovers, you are in for a treat!

Walk, bike, bus, or rideshare to make your stay sustainable and friendly.

We usually bike to downtown, and other guests have loved the convenience of the city's bike share program (just 3 blocks south). The Cultural Trail is an absolute must to explore the city easily via bike.

Rideshare will cost around $5-7 to get to the convention center, Mass Ave., or other places downtown. Airport runs are around $30-35 for a taxi (we'll also arrange to pick you up for $25, if we are available).

Parking out front can fill up, but there is parking around back off the alley. Please enter through the front door.

Some of the neighbors have dogs, so you may hear barking. You may also hear a distant train occasionally. This is a downstairs flat with another unit above, so you may also hear some noise from above, but all guests are expected to respect quiet hours. It's a normal part of urban living, but we have ear plugs to help with that if you are a light sleeper.

Common sense rules apply- Please treat our place like your own, clean up after yourself, wash your dishes, no smoking, be careful not to scuff the hardwood floors or spill on the furniture, and be respectful of the upstairs neighbors with quiet hours. City common sense- lock your car doors.

Quiet hours are 10pm-8am- this just means don't be shouting, blaring music, or having a dance party until 2am. :)

We also LOVE cooking vegetarian and vegan for both our friends and for clients with health issues. We are outdoorsy and energetic, but we also enjoy relaxing in the back yard with a bottle of red wine, and the dogs, or playing Scrabble or Carcassonne with friends.
