Immortelle is an experience as it is built in totally harmony with the nature around it. Local hard woods give it an organic feel. Grande Riviere is a heavenly spot where giant Leatherback turtles come to lay eggs. Be inspired!

Le logement

Immortelle is an octagonal shaped wooden house nestled in beautiful, majestic tropical trees (Saman, Palms, Pouis, Cocoa, Mango) built on a 2-acre plot of land situated at the Grande Riviere river mouth.
Grande Riviere beach is a protected nesting ground for Giant Leatherback Turtles and the access is restricted, during night hours (by permit only, permits can be obtained from the Tourist Office situated near the beach) from March 1st to August 31st.
The house is accessible off Hosang St, a large wooden gate marks the entrance and the driveway is lined with Palm trees and Bougainvillea.
The main living area is about 18 feet of the ground giving you the feeling that you are in a tree house. Heavy wooden louver doors open in accordion to reveal picture frames of green beauty with the Caribbean Sea on the horizon.
The open space living area including the kitchen and dining room is spacious and comfortable, allowing one to feel at home among the birds and the trees tops. The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern amenities. An outdoor deck attached to the house by a wooden bridge is great for star gazing, sitting in the sun or just being at one with nature.
The master bedroom is furnished with a four-poster king size bed in mahogany wood. An intimate smaller bedroom has 2 single beds and offers another view of the greenery surrounding the house (banana trees, coconuts, sugarcane and Pouis). A loft reached by a staircase carved out of the trunk of a massive Saman tree sleeps comfortably 4 persons.
A bathroom with open shower and toilet tiled with local red clay tiles and Ajoupa pottery creations complete the first floor.
A walk around balcony contours the whole house (except the kitchen area).
The downstairs area is a great liming spot for the children; hammocks are available to hang from hooks installed downstairs. The downstairs area has a store room, a toilet and a second bathroom.
Immortelle is a celebration the local hard wood of Trinidad and South America, with intricate fretwork designs carved out of the white and red Olivier walls; the Saman counter tops in the kitchen the Cedar cupboards and the Greenheart floors.
Immortelle being built of wood is totally organic and alive, so sometimes you may hear the wood creaking or have visits from birds and other friendly forest creatures.
We have a fabulous cook and cleaner who lives in the village, she is available if you don’t feel like doing any housework.
So climb into Immortelle, up the narrow concrete staircase and enjoy the warm, nurturing organic energy of wood in total comfort.

Beautiful house. Great place with lots to explore in the surrounding. The house is very close to the beach but also in the middle of town (not in the forest). So it can be noisy. We loved it there but think the price is somewhat to high with regard to equipment, which could be upgraded/updated. Lorraine was easy to correspond with and very friendly

The treehouse was awesome! It's a wonderful building, inside and out. There is a comfortable living room area and the bedrooms are nice. Accordion doors surround the living-dining areas as well as the bedrooms, opening the house almost completely to the surrounding deck. Opening the house like this feels great for relaxing and enjoying the surrounding plants and birds. Lorraine was accommodating and helpful, as was Tiny, the local caretaker. As a bonus, there are plenty of interesting books and magazines to look at. The only recommendations I have for visitors are to bring a nice sharp knife if you plan on cooking and be prepared for mosquitos. If you taste great to the mosquitos, as I apparently do, bring plenty of repellant and some mosquito coils to burn. The house is open to the outside as the accordion doors are much like shutters with no screens. This isn't a bad thing at all if you're prepared. We also brought and used a mosquito net at night. Luckily, I brought some light rope, for rigging, as there isn't a hook in the master bedroom. The neighborhood and the neighbors were nice. We were at the tree house for Jouvert and ended up dancing and celebrating with the locals. It was a lot of fun and interesting to see how the holiday is celebrated out in the country, although you should definitely see Jouvert in Port of Spain. If you are here for Carnival, be prepared for a DJ truck with loud music. There are a few stores, a bar, and a couple places to buy a meal. We mostly cooked our own food but also enjoyed some local barbecue and some fried chicken. Ask around near the beach and you'll find someone to take you on a hike. Alternatively, come prepared to find waterfalls yourself. I enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and the beach. The water can be a little rough when the tide's coming in but I loved swimming there. A river outlets to the ocean right near the house and provides and nice calm place to swim too. To sum it up, we had 6 guests at the house and no one wanted to leave!

Felt very welcome. Lorraine came to our hotel in POS to sort things out on our arrival. We came slightly out of season so things were a bit quieter than expected. The house was interesting - lovely view from the house - great place to relax.

This place was absolutely wonderful - Lorraine was a great host and was fast to respond to questions and updates on our arrival, she gave good directions and arranged for the caretaker to meet us late when our flight was delayed. The treehouse itself couldn't have been better - it was clean, spacious, and we felt right at home. I'm looking forward to our next trip down! Perfect neighborhood, perfect setting and a beautiful country. Thank you!

The setting, treehouse and host were excellent. The only reasons it's been marked down are: - There was an all night festival so got little sleep (no-one's fault really) - There was only cold water - There is no aircon (but there was through breeze so not really a problem) - The path to the property is narrow, slippery and in poor condition and could do with being repaired/improved before it gets too dangerous (especially in the rain)
