À propos de ce logement
Set in a secluded part of Plymouth in a quiet street this is a large terraced house with many beautiful characteristics which have been combined with original features, numerous pieces of modern painting and ceramics and an emphasis on comfort.
The property has a very large open plan sitting room and dining room with capacity to sit at least 8 for dinner and with a period leather chaise and a large luxury sofa. There are doors to make this into two rooms should you desire but we like to keep it open for the light and the feeling of space. We have been collecting art from around the south-west for thirty years which is scattered around the house. The large kitchen/breakfast room sits 6-8 as needed and has all amenities. We like to cook and there is a two oven cooker and numerous books to support us! This is not set up as a holiday space, This is our home so there are some beautiful pieces of ceramics and glass for everyday use (with care). For us it's part of enjoying being here.
There are four double bedrooms. The main bedroom is en-suite with a roll-top iron bath and separate shower and loo. The main bedroom is huge and has hanging space for clothes as needed and a large and very comfortable bed. Second bedroom has an en-suite shower room but the loo is a few steps down the corridor. There is also a cabin bedroom with a small bed which we use for our grandchild. There is a fairly large library of books which vary from travel, to cookery to social science (yes vital for all guests) reflecting our interests and careers in the media and as academics. Upstairs on the top floor are two more double bedrooms and a separate bathroom. We have locked one other room at the top of the house to keep some of our stuff and also there is a locked loft space.
This small network of streets is full of Late Georgian and Victorian properties.
It is friendly and quiet. We are in the west of Plymouth so ideal for those wanting to visit Cornwall. There is a small train station about 300 yards away - Devonport. From here you can get into the city centre, up the river to the beautiful village of Calstock in Cornwall on the Tamar or into deeper Cornwall to visit the incredible array of natural and visitor attractions. We will leave details of these in the house guide.
Two taxi services dominate Plymouth. Tower cabs is cheap(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or the biggest which is Taxi First (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Car rental is varied but Enterprise is probably cheapest and they can deliver and pick up and have a main depot less than a mile away.
The property is a 25 minute walk from the city centre or about £4.50 in a cab. Parking outside is free and always possible. We are about 300 yards from a beautiful, extensively restored Victorian park with views across into Cornwall. You are only 1 mile from the car ferry into Cornwall. It is about 20-30 minutes to get up on Dartmoor. Plymouth has many pubs and restaurants and rapidly developing cultural offer. Great theatres, cinemas, music, comedy and more besides. Details of restaurants and suggestions will be at the property.
Access to all spaces and the courtyard apart from the locked room on the top floor.
Happy to have interaction via mobile or we will set up someone else to talk to if we are away from the country.
Buses very close to get to city centre or around Devon and into Cornwall.
We also have two serviceable bikes and one bike lock should you wish to borrow them. Just let us know in advance.
Our neighbours are fantastic and very helpful but will keep themselves to themselves (some you may find in the quiet but friendly pub 50 yards away. Do just keep noise to sensible levels and no hen, stag or other parties please.
Pets can be accommodated by arrangement but only downstairs. We have a dog but she never goes in the bedrooms. Please keep to smoking outside.
Si vous annulez jusqu'à 7 jours avant le voyage, vous recevez un remboursement à hauteur de 50 % et les frais de service vous sont remboursés intégralement.

My partner Andrea and I worked in a University. I used to make films and TV programmes. We taught social studies, journalism and media. We love to travel and are passionate about all aspects of culture. We read a lot, watch movies, cook tasty food and drink wine - sounds like a good life - which it is. We are lucky enough to have five children aged between 18 and 35. The oldest teaches in Japan and the youngest is a really good artist. In between we have a teacher, an office manager and a organic farming surfer! When not traveling we spend most of our spare time in our cliff top chalet called Ocean Waves at Whitsand Bay in Cornwall (URL HIDDEN)
