Casa Gea was a wonderful place to stay while we were visiting the Amalfi coast. Just off the road between Amalfi and Ravello, the building really does ooze character. We enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the river, with a cool breeze blowing through the open lead-paned windows. We were woken one morning by a herd of goats being taken up the hill, and during the day there are cars and buses on the road, but we did not find these to be a problem -- and at night it was very peaceful. It's not entirely modern accommodation -- the beds and bathroom fittings are somewhat dated -- but it was perfectly comfortable, and we enjoyed staying there. Amedeo was a friendly and welcoming host, and helpful throughout our stay. A bus stop is very close by, with regular service up and down the hill. This worked well for getting us up to Ravello (it's a 5-10 minute ride), but be warned that getting a taxi back can be an expensive proposition... surprisingly so, given the short distance. It's just as easy to walk down, though walking up the hill is more of a task! If you drive and want to park a car, heed the warnings in other reviews about the narrow driveway. I would not have wanted to navigate that in anything but a small car. All in all, if you are willing to sacrifice some convenience for charm (not to mention value), then go for it!

This place is very good if you like to walk and you don't mind roughing it a little. The room was very spacious and our host was extremely helpful, we are so grateful.

Amedeo's Old Mill is such a unique experience to have on the Amalfi Coast. It's located outside the hustle and bustle of the costal areas and on the way up the hill to Ravello. There's a bus stop just a few meters past his location but unfortunately for us we had a hard time knowing where to have the bus stop and getting the not so kind bus driver to actually stop but I think this is unusual. Other bus rides were very pleasant and the drivers more than helpful. Perhaps we just caught him on a cruise ship day! Needless to say, Amedeo was very helpful and even offered to come pick us up with his car. His place is quiet and beautiful; nestled in the mountains, it has a very rustic feel. I would recommend this place to people who are adventurous and like roughing it for a bit. We slept with the large windows open all the way and enjoyed listened to the birds, watching the sunrise and going for a few hikes. Amedeo provided a nice, big breakfast and helped us catch the bus back down to Amalfi. Our room was spacious, private, had a lock on the door and its own bathroom. We enjoyed dinner in the quiet town of Atrani which we reached by foot. Stairs are no stranger to Italy and the climb up the hill is pretty steep but again the buses run quite frequently and the views are stunning!! I would absolutely recommend Amedeo and his place!!

Amedeo's place is a beautiful, authentic building in a peaceful area in the mountains within walking/hiking distance of several coastal villages including Amalfi. Amedeo was very accommodating and polite, he helped with every step of the process and provided a delicious breakfast for us in the morning. Would recommend for couples, people who enjoy walking/hiking and nature.

We had an amazing time in this mill. The sounds of the river were delightful. Our host was very accommodating. He met us when we arrived and showed us around. He had great recommendations for restaurants which one we went to and had a fantastic seafood meal after a long leisurely walk down an endless flight of stairs. We spent a nice evening in the village and headed to Amalfi for a taxi. The only complaint was with the taxi driver as he charged 40e for a 5-10 min drive up the hill but I suppose that he can in such a remote area. It was late and we were kinda turned around and tired so that falls to our poor planning. I would absolutely recommend this place again and to anyone interested. The bathrooms were clean and the bathtub was nice. The views were breathtaking. Also he informed us when we checked in that there was a breakfast in the morning. As I previously said it was quite a long journey to the town so to have a delightful breakfast of fresh coffee juice and fresh bread butter and honey was a fantastic way to start our morning. He was such a gracious and delightful host.

This is a unique and beautiful house with many interesting details. It is a bit of a walk up to Ravello or down to the beach, but the location is beautiful, in the middle of a ravine next to a flowing stream (and there are buses for those unwilling or unable to walk up and down the many stairs that practically define the experience of the Amalfi Coast). There's also private parking at the house.
