Description
Description

Meno a Kwena Safari Camp offers fully serviced luxury accommodation, including all meals, beverages, activities & complimentary return road transfers from Maun Airport. Witness Southern Africa's largest Zebra migration right in front of your tent!

Resting atop ancient and awe inspiring cliffs, with the serene Boteti River flowing in front of your tent and zebra, kudu and elephant interacting beyond, Meno a Kwena provides a haven for those after a more authentic safari experience. The bushman walk offered here is also a highlight of many visits for guests of all ages.

With the entire camp freshly renovated, this fully inclusive camp now offers nine fully serviced, en suite Meru tents that hark to halcyon days on safari. A traditional fenced boma partly envelops each of the tents, whilst outside, a bucket shower with a view complete the picture. Away from the rooms there are multiple spots for guests to enjoy alone or spend time with their fellow travelers, be it in the floating photographic hide, in the relaxed lounge area overlooking the river, or at the bar. For those keen to brush up on their knowledge before the next drive there’s a library and dining area, for a drop of sun meanwhile the pool area is undeniably tempting.

Sitting on the western boundary of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, the camp is ideally situated for excursions into the Okavango Delta, Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans as well as the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

Meno a Kwena is the area’s only camp accessible by road, with a two hour transfer to Maun. Transfers are complimentary both to and from Maun airport.

The ‘living area’ which is accessible to all guests include a dining, lounge and public rest room, kitchen, bar, library, curio shop, viewing tents and swimming pool, is considered ‘a work of organic architecture’. The style of decor is unique and based on a historical account of safaris and African culture.

Our camp managers, friendly staff and experienced safari guides are available throughout your stay.

Immersed between the famous swamps of the Okavango to the west and the parched Makgadikgadi Salt Pans to the east, Meno A Kwena Safari Camp takes you to the miracle of the Boteti River, where the Okavango Delta seeps into the thirsty Kalahari. Having been dry for more than 20 years, the Boteti is in full flow giving rise to an explosion of new life in the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pan National Parks endless savannahs. The Boteti is the home and heart of Southern Africa’s largest Zebra and Wildebeest migration. Every year they make the desperate pilgrimage (June-November) to Meno A Kwena from their fertile breeding grounds in the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pan National Parks.

From Meno a Kwena, one can explore the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans National Parks where big game encounters are unique with the spectacular backdrops. June through to October is considered the dry season in Botswana driving large herds of wildlife to the banks of the Boteti River. This is also the best time of year to visit the largest salt pan system on the planet. Embrace endless horizons with a sleep out in the salt pans, under the stars and surrounded by this vast abyss of stillness and quiet.
During the green season (Dec – Mar), the salt pans are carpeted in green thanks to the relief brought by the rains. Witness some of the largest giraffe herds, zebra, wildebeest and gemsbok all gravitating to the Boteti River and onto the salt pans. Nxai pan is also well known for its conspicuous springbok population, all of which make for a superb predator meets buffet display. Relive a scene first witnessed by English artist and explorer Thomas Baines who painted the stately cluster of trees in the 1800’s which became known as Baines Baobabs.
Access to the camp is either by complimentary return road transfers from Maun Airport or by light aircraft charter.

Meno a Kwena Camp rests high on natural calcrete cliff banks overlooking the Boteti River that seeps into the Kalahari. Witness the natural phenomenon of Southern Africa’s largest Zebra migration and exceptional diversity of wildlife from your tent. Fully Inclusive rates includes all meals, drinks and activities. The camp is only 1.5 hr road transfer from Maun which is also included in rate. Apart from the wildlife theatre in front of camp, activities include San Bushmen nature walks, boat cruises, photographic floating hide, game drives in Makgadikgadi & experiential trips to Nxai Pan, and Makgadikgadi Salt Pan sleep-outs under the stars.
