À propos de ce logement

Drws Nesaf is a tiny, one up, one down stone-built cottage, traditionally furnished and dating from the mid 19th century, originally built to house farm servants. It is perfectly located for easy access to the Brecon Beacons and Gower coast.

Le logement

Drws Nesaf (meaning next door) is a whitewashed, stone built, one up one down cottage. It was built in the mid 19th century to accommodate farm servants, the larger farm house being adjacent. The interior is traditionally furnished with antique furniture and rugs and is heated by a wood-burning stove.

All linen is provided; bed linen, bath and hand towels, kitchen towel and tea-towel. There is also shower gel, soap, washing-up liquid, dishcloths and kitchen roll. An initial basket of wood will be provided on arrival, additional logs and kindling can be purchased at the local garage and hardware store.

Accès des voyageurs

The cottage is accessed via a narrow lane and parking is provided to the front of the cottage. To the rear is a walled garden planted with flowers and herbs. A small gate gives access to farmland.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

On your arrival, I will be there to welcome you with a plate of home-made Welsh cakes and to hand over the keys. I live locally and can be easily contacted should the need arise.
Useful information with details of places of interest and local amenities is to be found in a folder which I have put together for the cottage.

Autres remarques

The cottage is heated by a wood-burning stove. One basket of wood will be provided. Additional logs and kindling can be purchased from the local garage.

One well behaved dog is allowed. Guests are requested to bring their pet's bedding and to please not leave their dog unattended in the cottage. There is access to fields from the rear garden for dog walking if no sheep are on the farm. However, at times there are sheep in the fields, in which case I would ask you to keep your dog on a lead and of course to please clear up after after your pet.

I stayed several days in July 2017. Jennet met me on check in and showed me around. The pictures don't do it justice. Tucked away in a small village in Wales, her lovely cottage is "next door" to her mother's house. Both are very old with an interesting history. It makes a perfect base to hike from, as all around are trails leading into and around the Breton Beacons. The area is rich with waterfalls, standing stones, and history. If not, it's also perfect to unwind and unplug. All essentials are provided. The woodburning stove is quite the centerpiece! The squeaky wood floors upstairs lend just the right atmospheric touch. Out back is a fantastic private terrace with a classic English garden. Jennet has the most extensive guidebook collection I've ever seen. Whether you like hikes, art, history, or shopping, she has the information. I recommend this cottage. I can't wait to plan a return visit when I can stay for several weeks. There's just so much to do! Communication, value, cleanliness - all were excellent!

Jennet's cottage was ideal for us and she was an excellent host. The place had everything we needed for a short stay and is very tastefully furnished. The complimentary welsh cakes didn't last long..

Jennet's House is gorgeous, and Jennet was very flexible with our check-in time when we arrived later than expected. We went for a long weekend of walking in the Brecon's and it was the perfect location for Pen Y Fan as well as the 4 waterfalls. She has plenty of guides and advice for what to do in the local area. Would definitely recommend.

This cottage is in a great location, easy to get to and a great base to explore a lot of areas without travelling too far. It's well equipped and has everything you need, the fire was set up ready for us to use but we didn't need it this time. Very quiet area (apart from the main road nearby but this didn't bother us) and local shops nearby. Would definitely stay here again I we were heading back to Wales!

This is small but perfectly formed. There's bags of character, comfortable and perfect for a relaxing break. The wood-burner is great and adds to the experience. There are a lot of lovely walks very close by, and although the village isn't particularly lovely, there is a decent pub and a well stocked Co-op. We would certainly consider going back.

A one time Design History lecturer I enjoy art, architecture and antiques and have a good knowledge of local flea markets, antique markets and auction houses.
Having grown up in this house and moved away as a teenager, I returned to South Wales a few years ago. I love the surrounding landscape and continue to explore it with my lurcher Nelson.
