Antique wooden doors lead to a very comfortable private rooms and guest bath on the 2nd story of this 19th century home. Quiet, quaint and just a few minutes to Downtown, U of U and Hospitals. Bus route is 1/2 block away. Come relax!
Guests stay in the entire upstairs of the house. There are two bedrooms, a private entrance and a large bathroom. A queen bed is available in one room and a pair of twin beds is available in the other. The large bathroom (which was originally another bedroom) includes a six foot tub and a shower. What the 1980's bathroom decor lacks in style it makes up for in comfort!
The rooms are completely furnished. There is also a small refrigerator, a microwave and kettle on suite. The TV, in the larger bedroom is pretty small but there is hi-speed wireless access, and two desks. Some snacks, coffee & tea are.
At this time, we are only taking one booking at a time so that there is privacy for use of the upstairs bathroom. However, this is an ideal accommodation for a small family or for a pair of friends that want separate bedrooms and some privacy.
This house, located in the historic Avenues district of Salt Lake City, was built in 1893 by a Jewish doctor from MA who wanted to keep both of his wives. Sister houses were fairly common in Utah during the 19th century. Husbands who would keep two families in nearly identical houses right next to each other. Great pains were taken to make sister houses nearly identical so that one wife did not feel outdone by the other. Although it has been modified, the sister house to this one still stands next door.

We are an active outdoorsy family and can provide tips on local places, things to see, places to go and things to do and how to get them all at a discounted rate. We love to cook and eat too!
One of the benefits of staying in Salt Lake City proper is that it provides easy access to all of the skiing destinations (average travel time to the slopes is 35-45 minutes from our door). There are numerous biking and hiking trails very close to the house as well as ice rinks (outdoors and indoors), tennis/ basketball courts (outdoors and bubbled during the winter) within minutes of the house and access to indoor and outdoor pools. Parks, yoga, the Kuradoor spa, restaurants and shopping are all within a short distance from the house.
** Hospital guests and families are given priority for bookings.**
The airport is about a 15 minute drive, a $20.00 cab or uber fare. It is also possible to take the train into the city and then catch a bus to the house. We have both a cat and a dog, although neither pet is suppose to go upstairs, they sometimes do and this could negatively affect someone with allergies. There is a separate furnace upstairs to minor-control the heat and central air plus a separate air conditioner for each room in summer.
Guests are expected to act responsibly. Drinking is allowed in our home but drunken obnoxious behavior is not. Non-smokers only. Additional guests that arrive to camp out on the floor without pre-approval will not be allowed. This is a historic home that lovingly provides warmth, shelter and comfort, be nice to it!
