Antique wooden doors lead to a very comfortable private rooms and guest bath on the 2nd story of this 19th century home. Quiet, quaint and just a few minutes to Downtown, U of U and Hospitals. Bus route is 1/2 block away. Come relax!

Le logement

Guests stay in the entire upstairs of the house. There are two bedrooms, a private entrance and a large bathroom. A queen bed is available in one room and a pair of twin beds is available in the other. The large bathroom (which was originally another bedroom) includes a six foot tub and a shower. What the 1980's bathroom decor lacks in style it makes up for in comfort!

The rooms are completely furnished. There is also a small refrigerator, a microwave and kettle on suite. The TV, in the larger bedroom is pretty small but there is hi-speed wireless access, and two desks. Some snacks, coffee & tea are.

At this time, we are only taking one booking at a time so that there is privacy for use of the upstairs bathroom. However, this is an ideal accommodation for a small family or for a pair of friends that want separate bedrooms and some privacy.

This house, located in the historic Avenues district of Salt Lake City, was built in 1893 by a Jewish doctor from MA who wanted to keep both of his wives. Sister houses were fairly common in Utah during the 19th century. Husbands who would keep two families in nearly identical houses right next to each other. Great pains were taken to make sister houses nearly identical so that one wife did not feel outdone by the other. Although it has been modified, the sister house to this one still stands next door.

Accès des voyageurs

Guests always have access to the front hall stair and upstairs of the home. The rest of the house and the gardens are available to guests when we are home or on a pre-arranged basis. Avid bikers and skiers are welcome and secure storage for gear is available.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We are an active outdoorsy family and can provide tips on local places, things to see, places to go and things to do and how to get them all at a discounted rate. We love to cook and eat too!

One of the benefits of staying in Salt Lake City proper is that it provides easy access to all of the skiing destinations (average travel time to the slopes is 35-45 minutes from our door). There are numerous biking and hiking trails very close to the house as well as ice rinks (outdoors and indoors), tennis/ basketball courts (outdoors and bubbled during the winter) within minutes of the house and access to indoor and outdoor pools. Parks, yoga, the Kuradoor spa, restaurants and shopping are all within a short distance from the house.

** Hospital guests and families are given priority for bookings.**

Autres remarques

The airport is about a 15 minute drive, a $20.00 cab or uber fare. It is also possible to take the train into the city and then catch a bus to the house. We have both a cat and a dog, although neither pet is suppose to go upstairs, they sometimes do and this could negatively affect someone with allergies. There is a separate furnace upstairs to minor-control the heat and central air plus a separate air conditioner for each room in summer.

This is my second time staying with Lisa and again if was a fabulous experience. Her place is comfortable and in a convenient location to downtown either by public transportation or walking. I highly recommend Lisa and her place to anyone wishing to visit the Salt Lake City area.

Lisa's upstairs apartment is decorated in charming vintage antiques combined with a really comfortable bed! It is a private 2 bedroom suite with a giant 1980's bathroom. Lisa provides a microwave and mini fridge along with a few snack goodies and drinks. There are lots of soaps, shampoos, and other thoughtful items along with an abundance of towels. We liked that we had the entire upper floor to ourselves. The window AC in the twin bedroom is not very strong - but the one in the queen bedroom combined with the central AC controlled downstairs made it tolerable during a very hot week in SLC. Wi-fi worked well, but TV is older and very small. We had a busy schedule during our week there so we didn't get a chance to talk much to Lisa. There is a dog and cat on the property and people who are allergic to pets would not do well there. There are quite a few stairs and not all are consistent in height and some of the walks are a bit uneven. The neighborhood is safe and has so much to look at with the various architectural details. Parking is easy and on the street. Close to both downtown and the University, as well as a quick drive to several shopping and dining areas - this is an ideal location to base out of in SLC.

Lisa's upstairs, is comfortable, airy and very clean. Great location for walking downtown, to restaurants, coffee shops, and into the foothills for a hike. Lisa goes beyond just a host as she provides suggestions, stocks the fridge, has all the right amenities and goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable and get all of your questions answered. Would definitely stay at Lisa's place again.

Lisa is amazing!! We did not have much time to visit since we were in and out all the time. But the few times we were able to chat was awesome. Lisa is very fascinating and you feel like you've been friends for a long time. In fact I felt like I was staying at a friend's house. Thank you Lisa!! Look forward to staying with you again where ever you may live .
