Picena bay, where the vacation house is located, is a small bay 5 km away from Vela Luka (diametrically on the other side of the island of Korcula, where the historical town of Korcula lies).
Another beautiful bay is Stracincica. To reach it you need to drive past the local villages, only 10 min away Vela Luka where the ferry brings you from Split and where you will find all the shops, ice cream, post office, local market, bakery, restaurants and bars.
The bay doesn’t know mass tourism since it is a very quiet, peaceful bay with few tourists, and with no shops, restaurants and other similar facilities (all this is available at Vela Luka, a 10 minute-drive), so the experience of your holidays is a pure "just me, endless sea and peace".
In Gradina Bay (20 min by car) you can find a wonderful restaurant. They have a very delicious Mediterranean food with lots of fresh fish and a wonderful beach-front location. Next reccomendable restaurant is restaurant Miletic restaurant, which is the most authentic Mediterranean places on the Island.
To reach Korcula Island from Split you have two possibilities:
a) Take the ferry to Vela Luka (Korcula) at 10.15 or 17.30 and you arrive 2,5 hours later to the town Vela Luka. From there you have 10 more minutes to reach Stracincica bay where the apartment is located. The ferry drive takes about 2,5 hours and costs 10 € for the passengers and 90 € for the car.
b) If you arrive without the car, you can board the passengers-only Catamaran, that departs from Split and arrives to Vela Luka. Catamaran departs from Split to Vela Luka at 15.00. The drive takes around 2,5 hours and costs ca. 10 €.
As for the car ferry, it is recommendable to be there 1 hour before departure. Ferry departs 2 times each day, at 10.15 and at 17.30 in high season (1.6. - 30.9. each year).
If you arrive sooner, park your car in the line for the Ferry to Korcula (you are going to see signs guiding you to the right peer), and then leave the car there (you don't need to pay anything for the car there).
Buy a ticket to Korcula, and then take a stroll in the old town of Split (5 minutes on foot), and drink a coffee on a beautiful Split promenade by the sea with palms!
Half an hour before departure you will start to board the ferry. You park the car on the deck and go upstairs where the outdoor terrace or indoor cabin is. Inside is air-conditioned coffee bar, so you can enjoy the ride of 2,5 hours already on the ferry. There is plenty of space for the children to run around, play and relax.
You can also walk around the terraces and admire the Adriatic sea and start getting the brown color on the ferry already. If you are lucky, you might even see the dolphins!
You have access to your car the whole time so if you need anything from your car, you can go down and take it. It is a big ferry so you don't need to worry if there will be enough space for all cars, There is always enough space on this ferry from Split to Vela Luka.
If you are arriving from Dubrovnik you can take a catamaran (only for passengers) from Dubrovnik to Korcula town. From there you have another 45 minutes (with taxi or rent a car) to reach Stracincica bay.
The other option is that you rent a car on Dubrovnik airport and drive drive 2,5 hours to reach Korcula town (at the end you take a ferry which operates each hour, takes 20 minutes and costs around 13 € for the car and 4 passengers). From Korcula town you have another 45 minutes to reach Stracincica Bay.
Let us know if you need any help with organizing the transport, we will help you gladly.
1.) Pupnat Bay (Pupnatska Luka : We recommend that you take a trip by car to the beautiful Pupnat Bay (a relatively un-populated bay with a beautiful pebble beach and one typical Dalmatian restaurant) approx. 30-minute drive by car from your apartment (without shade, so we recommend bringing a sun shade with you). You can reach the beach by descending the new asphalt road and park at the end of the bay. The best time to visit this beach is in the early morning hours when there are less people there and the colours of the sea are breath-taking!
2.) Bacva Bay (Plaza Bacva), on the way to the town of Korcula (30-minute drive from your apartment) is approx. one half smaller than Pupnat Bay but no less charming. The best time to visit is during the day with small white pebble stones all warmed up from the sun!
3.) The town of Korcula with its medieval Old Town (about an hour's drive from your apartment). Some people affectionately refer to it as little Dubrovnik. The town of Korcula is an annual host of Knights games called Moreska which are a wonderful tourist attraction, especially for children.
They take place in the old city centre in the amphitheatre under the stars. After the games have a cocktail at Massimo – a pub in the tower of the city walls. To reach it, you need to climb a wooden ladder (skirts are not recommended).
For that final cherry on top treat yourself to an authentic sea food dinner in one of Korcula's many restaurants (we recommend restaurant Mareda or Aterina in the old city center) to end the perfect trip around Korcula island.
4.) Proizd Island with its magical turquoise pebble beaches! The boat Muro which takes you to the island 3 times a day (9 am, 10 am and 11 am). The ride takes approx. 40 minutes and you can return back to Vela Luka at 4 pm, 5 pm or 6 pm from Proizd Island.
The boat ride itself is already an adventure. We recommend that you bring a sunshade and some food, however, there is one restaurant on the island where you can buy some water, ice cream or have a Dalmatian lunch (not really a highlight in restaurant offer but nevertheless the grill dishes are quite tasty). Three are a number of pine woods above the beach, so there is some shade. The island has 4 excellent beaches and the last on the left is a nudist beach.
1.Upon arrival, the apartment is available from 4 pm. The last day, please leave the apartment until 10 am, if not differently noted on your Voucher.

I am in love with the Adriatic Sea and together with my team of 5 people we choose each house in a way that we test it, fall in love with it and then manage it for the owners, who are absent.
That is why me and my husband bought a house on the Island and spend most of our summers here. We think Adriatic is the most beautiful region in the world!
We love to welcome guests from all our the world and share with them our favourite restaurants, hidden bays, the best sunsset places, cocktail lounge bars and funny experiences with a little rented boat.
Our mission is to make you fall in love with holidays at the Adriatic as much as we are.
Our company manages this house and makes sure it is perfectly clean (my husband is German as you could guess so this issue is done by german standards :)) and we make sure you feel safe, welcomed and inspired.
- great books
- restaurants where they cook with soul and herbs
- singing and listening to a good music
- driving with the boat around the little islands
- getting to know new people
- ecological approach to life
I am madly in love with kite-boarding, so this is my main sport activity in the summer.
I am so grateful that just 20 minutes of a taxi boat drive across the Island of Korcula, in a little town Viganj on the mainland, there is a perfect surfing and kiting spot that I visit regularly (they have great schools for water sports as well).
On Krk Island, you can also get a nice spots for windsurfing, not far away also kitesurfing.
