I am originally from Perth Western Australia and I moved to New Zealand in May 2010. My partner Nigel is a New Zealander and we both love the West Coast of this magnificent South Island so chose to build our home in Barrytown (near Punakaiki.) We moved in the day before Xmas 2015 and decided to start our accommodation business then discovered Airbnb. We enjoy sharing our home and love working with Airbnb to enable guests to find us in this unique spot. It is great fun to meet our international travelers and learn about where they are from and in turn inform them about the local history of this beautiful area. Our little dog Roxy is loving the extra beach walks and all the pats too! We have named our property 'Koru' as we are surrounded by gorgeous tree ferns and the koru is the growing tip of the unfolding fern leaf. Its meaning in Maori is 'new beginnings and harmony' and we want our guests to feel in harmony with our environment when they stay with us.
