Sitting in a valley two miles inland from the Pacific within the Estero Americano Watershed District, the house is crafted with original 100-year old wood paneling. A bright sun room & outdoor patio allow you to appreciate the bucolic surroundings.

This charming, romantic, turn-of-the-century converted wooden schoolhouse sits on an acre of fruit, cypress, cedar, and pine trees. A uniquely-peaceful ecological garden, surrounded by gently rolling hills of west Marin.

The home was built in 1905 as the Estero District Schoolhouse. It features beautiful interior design with mahogany staircase and redwood accents. Tall ceilings frame beautiful views. An enclosed south-facing solarium which overlooks a lovely brick courtyard and fountain.

The property sits in a peaceful valley two miles inland from the Pacific Ocean within the Estero Americano Watershed District. The house is crafted with the original 100-year old wood paneling and framing. Uniquely renovated using original fir and redwood paneling and trim. Expansive windows bring in an abundance of natural light. A vintage kitchen with adjoining breakfast nook contains everything you will need to prepare delicious family dinners or a lunch spread. Overlooking the brick patio, the attached sunroom offers a beautiful place to sit for breakfast, afternoon tea, yoga, or meditation. The garden and rolling hills surround you – a place for dreaming and reconnecting with the harmony of nature and the land. There are two private bedrooms, one open air sleeping loft, and a queen sized bed in the lounge downstairs and will comfortably sleep six. There is a stand alone studio unit on the property as well that is available as well if your group is larger.

This wooded acre is great for anyone looking to get out of the city and enjoy the slow pace of country living. Come enjoy our quiet garden, surrounded by deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, owls, raptors and wide variety of birds. A bird watcher's delight! Don't forget to bring your binoculars.

As guests, you will have full access to the main house (all bedrooms, bathroom, cabinets, and closets) and it’s surrounding areas, sun room, patio, garden, and acreage. You may be sharing the property with guests of the fully separate studio that will also have access to the grounds, but not the house. We ask that you please respect anything locked or labeled restricted. Guests are not allowed to use the in-construction tree house. We sincerely ask that you please respect and care for this charming home, its property, and neighbors. Our property is entirely encompassed in a white wooden fence.
We do have internet and Wifi available, however due to our rural nature, we are VERY restricted on bandwidth. Please do not stream videos throughout your stay. You are welcome to use the satellite television instead and you have access to a library of films as well.

Property manager will be available via phone or by email if guests have any questions or needs during their stay, she lives on the ranch next door and is happy to sell you some meat to enjoy while you're here. Cooked meals and private experience tours can be set up directly through property manager, please contact via phone or email.

We strongly encourage you to arrive prior to dark. Many people have trouble finding us in the dark on these country roads. It will make your stay much more comfortable to arrive while there is still light. Cell service is good with Verizon and very spotty with other providers, please know where you are going before leaving the Petaluma area in case you lose service. There is a landline for emergencies that you are welcome to use. Feel free to contact me that way as well if you need anything during your stay.

We ask that our guests treat this house with the utmost respect. It was built over 100 years ago and we ask that you take special care of her vintage charm. Please be conscious of our water drought and be sure to conserve where you can. We are on a very sensitive septic system, so nothing can go down the toilets except human waste. Small trash bins are provided right there for used toilet paper and all other non human waste. We also ask that you are aware of your electrical usage and turn off lights not being used. Composting is encouraged. No video streaming. We do not allow smoking inside the house.
