Our lovingly restored original Queenslander is styled to reflect the past but with a fresh, bright, contemporary approach-white walls, items collected from our overseas travels, books, art, vintage and new design fill the spaces.
NO filming or photography unless otherwise agreed. Wedding photography is permitted.

My design philosophy is classic with a quirky twist and every piece must tell a story. Artwork and pieces are sourced anywhere from overseas design stores to being restored after dragging them off the curb side throw outs. Design plays a big part in creating a friendly, relaxing environment conducive to 'just hanging out'. We pride ourselves on our extremely high standard of cleanliness and the high quality of our linen. We are so fortunate to have hosted so many wonderful people who love the space as much as we do and consider it their Brisbane home away from home. Each of the four bedrooms has it's own key access and includes a desk and private en suite bathroom. There are multiple common areas, designed for either maximum relaxation or socialising. Common areas include a long verandah (52sqm) located behind a wall of glass louvred windows with views across the city, a small study/library, sitting room with large TV and lounge, and a bright and airy dining room adjoining the kitchen area. The gourmet kitchen is modern, extremely clean and fully equipped with a coffee machine, double-door fridge with ice maker and cold filtered water, gas cook top, fruit and vegetable juicer. The laundry has a washing machine, ironing facilities and toilet. This is not a party house so please keep noise to a minimum (see rules for further details)
We like to tailor needs for our guests during their stay for eg if children are staying we will leave a box of lego, toys and books if required and flowers for special occassions.

This space has been specifically designed for guests and you won't find any personal belongings or clutter. It is on the first floor of a two story home. The ground floor is our/the owners private apartment and the gardens are for ground floor use only.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

It is located on the top floor of a two-storey Queenslander-style duplex. We live very busy lives so often we do not get to meet our guests. You can contact us by telephone if you have any queries. The downstairs is our apartment. Our friendly housekeeper, Melissa is there Monday to Friday 9:30-12:30 to clean and tidy and to answer any of your questions.

Autres remarques

Watch this space as hoping to install air-condition at the end of this summer. There is only a few weeks of the year where temperatures are unbearably hot. It is both an environmental and affordability issue that has prevented us from installing air conditioners. For 90 percent of the year, they are not required. We also for similar reasons do not have a clothes dryer. There are industrial driers available at the end of the street should they be required.

We have two bikes available for free use and can be booked for half day blocks. Please call or text me for further details.

If you would like to escape Brisbane we have a studio cottage nestled in the rainforest of stunning Tamborine Mountain which is a one hour drive from Brisbane in the Gold Coast hinterland. If you are interested in amazing views, spectacular rainforest walks we can provide you with the perfect hideaway.

This is NOT a party house and we reserve the right to evict immediately any guest who disturbs our neighbours or ourselves. If we are not there our neighbours have our numbers and will call us to report any disturbances. We would ask that noise be kept to a discreet level. No parties or large gatherings unless otherwise discussed and agreed, absolutely no smoking inside and no pets.
We would ask that the house be left clean and tidy at all times as it reduces an invitation for insect pests especially in the kitchen after each use.
Your assistance in taking excess recycled waste to the bins at the front would be greatly appreciated.
Please do not move or drag furniture as this causes damage to floor and walls.
Clothes lines are provided in each room but for larger items please hang on lines provided in laundry.
We are happy for you to work from the house but please do not invite colleagues, family and friends to work from the house unless otherwise discussed with us. This includes sharing the internet password. Internet in Australia is overall not great. We have a reasonable amount of data but we do ask that you do not stream or download. By doing this it will inevitably be shaped. If you would like to download or stream, the state library which is not far from our house has free internet.
No filming or photography unless otherwise discussed (the exception being wedding photography which we love)

My husband and I stayed with 3 other couples and we had a wonderful stay. A beautiful house, very spacious and extremely clean. Loved that each bedroom had its own ensuite and we really enjoyed the sunny verandah. Excellent location. We would definitely stay again.

Great location and spacious home. A few too many rules about no TV use after 8pm and no spare towels - a little odd for a "holiday" house but wasn't an issue for us as we weren't there for long and are quiet anyway. Neighbouring homes are very close so do need to be quiet. Advertised as parking on on the property but a lot of rules about parking, much easier to park on the street. The house was very clean and the location was excellent. The hosts leave a welcome book with good restaurant/cafe suggestions and alot of privacy from the hosts, easy access with check-in/out.

I work very, very hard to provide a welcoming home and have just returned from my first holiday in four years as my Father had just passed away and I needed a break. Comments such as Ben's make me rethink being an airbnb host. However, I must remind myself that 98% of guests are extremely appreciative and positive and many have become friends so I will just have a good cry and try and move on but it is heartbreaking when I read the comments. Following are the issues addressed; There is a note on one TV in one of the bedrooms. It requests that the TV volume be kept low and not used after 10pm as the noise in this room travels. We do ask people to be considerate of neighbours with noise levels. Being considerate is a common courteousy and as the airbnb community is well-aware we tread a tenuous line with many lobby groups campaigning against it's existence so it is in the best interest for the future of this service that we all try to be considerate. Unlike hotels and commercial accommodation enterprises we are private homes and as such we need to respect the values of not only the owners but the community in which they are located. I've just been travelling through Europe and America and stayed in airbnbs and my rules are very relaxed compared to those I had to follow at every apartment or house but I respected the fact, I'm not in a hotel, I'm in someone's home. Towels. We provide one towel/bathsheet, face cloth and handtowel per person for a two night stay which we believe is adequate. If you stay in other 'holiday' houses you are given only one set of towels each per week even hotels now ask for you to reuse towels due to environmental reasons. We do a linen change for stays over 7 days. Many airbnb hosts request you wash your own linen and towels if staying for longer periods. We provide beach towels free of use even though we are in the middle of the city and the option is there if you require more. We do provide shampoo. It is very expensive Castille liquid soap which, if you read is for hair and body. This costs between $27-30 a bottle but I seek to provide quality products for our guests. It took much research and trial to find a product that cut down on packaging wastage and was a superior product. Parking. As stated in the description there is a downstairs apartment, so I endavour to be clear about potentially sharing the parking space with other vehicles and not parking one another in. The listed times are for street parking so that you do not receive a parking ticket. In your case, you had the entire driveway to yourself. Inner city off street parking is rare and we provide 3-4 spaces. It is also a large house in an inner city suburb so all homes are close. I choose to celebrate the positives as I beleive it is a reflection of my character. As such I did not list the dirty state of the kitchen and toilets and the chocolate smeared all over the floor which had to be scrubbed off to name a few things. I chose to thank the guests for staying and putting the rubbish out. I have never had to respond in such a way but I feel the need to defend the hardwork and effort I put in to providing guests with the best possible stay.

Elegant stay, well appointed and clean. Individual bathrooms makes for privacy and self-contained arrangements. Great location, cannot get any better.

The house is so clean and everything is well catered for ...Interesting furnitures and (URL HIDDEN) near (a short walk) Aldi, bus stops, restaurants and Cafes...I, my husband and 3 other couples really enjoyed our stay especially having en suites in all 4 bedrooms....

Meg's place was a dream come true. Beautiful decor and wonderful natural light. I booked this as a place to get ready for my wedding and was blown away by the space for my girls and I. Thank you so much, Meg, for a wonderful stay.

Had a wonderful stay in west end! Beautiful house; a creative and artistic space. This house is perfect if you need to be close to the city; wonderful restaurants-walking distance. Had an absolutely wonderful stay!!!
