Le logement

A warm, spacious en-suite room with private entrance in a 17th century cottage in the village of Clyro, 1 mile from the book town of Hay-on-Wye. Fully renovated last year, this room has oak floors, original oak beams, high ceilings, a large bathroom with bath/shower, French doors leading onto a terrace and the South-facing garden. Large windows flood the room with natural light and green views surround. Centrally heated and packed with insulation, the room is warm and toasty.
Breakfast is delivered in a basket the night before, so you can wake up whenever you like. Each day it is different, depending on what local produce is available or in season.
It is an ideal spot for exploring Hay-on-Wye, the Black Mountains, the Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons.
Pottery Cottage was the home of the potter Adam Dworski and he established the Wye Pottery in the room which is now the B&B.

‘We spent a wonderful three nights at Pottery Cottage. The room was spacious yet cosy, and Emma, the owner, had decorated the space beautifully. Best of all was the breakfast hamper, which was like opening a up a Christmas stocking each morning! We will definitely be back to sample Emma’s kind hospitality, the bookshops in Hay, and the stunning scenery. Thank you again.’

“Thanks for the use of your fabulous room – beautifully styled and the most delicious breakfast. We both loved the surprise of coming back to such a lovely spread last night (although resisted until this morning). We hope to be back in the not too distant future. Thank you again.”

Becky & Ben, Oxfordshire, September 2013

"Pottery Cottage was everything we could have wished for during our bank holiday road trip. The room was very good value and was one of the most stylish B&Bs we’ve ever stayed in. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was super luxurious, kitted out with chunky dressing gowns and quality bubble bath & shower gel. Emma’s Breakfast Basket in the morning was delicious and well thought through – there was no pressure to be ready for breakfast at a fixed time, all the fresh fruit and bread was ready and waiting for us in the room. Emma and Oliver were excellent hosts, giving us great tip-offs on local places to eat and hikes to go on. We shall certainly be recommending this B&B to our friends and family.”

'We had an excellent stay at Pottery Cottage, we feel so lucky to have found such a perfect B&B. Emma was absolutely lovely from my initial email enquiry to us checking out. The room and en suite were incredibly cosy. The bed was so comfortable (probably the best night sleep we’ve had in ages) and the bath and shower were amazing too! And breakfast was delicious as well as healthy. My only complaint was that we weren’t staying for longer. Will definitely be going back to Pottery Cottage when we’re next in the area. Thanks so much Emma!'

Fran & Duncan, London, August 2013

‘Emma was a brilliant host attentive yet unobtrusive. The cottage is beautiful as is the garden. The room and bathroom are large and decorated in a cool rustic boutique style. Location is great too we enjoy being on a cycle route to the Begwyns with easy access into town. 10/10 Oh dont forget breakfast a lovely basket of healthy treats!’

Gemma & Farn, London, July 2013

'We had a fantastic stay. Emma was lovely and friendly, the room has been beautifully done. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. It’s all been very well thought through with attention to detail, we’d definitely come back.'

John & Charlotte, Manchester, June 2013

'Meg and I had a lovely time at Pottery Cottage. The breakfasts were delicious, and we so enjoyed having tea in bed and then breakfast in the lovely garden. We were very lucky with the weather, and the events at the festival were all excellent. So many thanks! We may come back to Hay next year – and would love to stay again. And we may walk some of the Offa’s Dyke trail sometime – another excuse to visit.'

We loved our stay at Pottery Cottage! Emma was a brilliant host. Our room was clean and spacious with a lovely view of Emma's garden. I particularly enjoyed the tea selection and the breakfast basket each morning. The perfect spot for exploring Hay-on-Wye and the surrounding Brecon Beacons. Thanks Emma!

This is only my second airbnb and , like the first, did not disappoint. The airbnb system is very easy to use, see what you are booking and location. Emma was very swift to accept my booking and great at communication. You can tell both Emma and her husband have an artistic streak and the room was decorated with furnishings and memorabilia from their time living in South America. Parking and a private entrance also a plus. Anyone looking for a comfortable business stop or for close proximity to Hay On Wye, I'd have no hesitation in recommending Pottery Cottage

We moved to Clyro in September 2011 after seven years living in Buenos Aires, Argentina (where Seth, 5, and Bo, 4) were born. Since then we have travelled to India twice, including six months in a homestay in Kerala, while Oliver was writing India Rising (Faber, 2012), a summer in a trekker's hut in Holland, six months on the Uruguayan coast, two months in Andalucia, and one month travelling around Europe by train. After a huge renovation, we are now enjoying being settled in our home near Hay-on-Wye and like to walk in the hills as often as we can. Emma worked for several years, doing up luxury short-term rental homes in Argentina. Oliver is a journalist, writer and he is also studying for a PhD in Anthropology. (URL HIDDEN)
