Watermill in glorious Somerset countryside; stay in the spacious Grainstore (sleeps 3/4) or Miller's Cottage (sleeps 2). Price quoted is for the two interlinked and rented together, but they are also designed to be taken individually at less cost. The Grainstore is £110 per night and Miller's Cottage is £85. (Photos shows which is which). Airy in summer and cosy in winter.

Le logement

Cutterne Mill is set within 7 acres of old apple orchard and pasture on river Alham. It still has working waterwheel, mill pond, sluice and leat. Wildlife abounds. The Grainstore and Miller's Cottage each have their own individual entrance and grassy terrace space for sitting out. The Grainstore is above the old cider house and cart shed, which provides sheltered parking. Miller's Cottage is an adjoining one up one down cottage. These have just been renovated in the last few months and everything is fresh and new. We can supply both travel cot and high chair.

Accès des voyageurs

Guests are welcome to walk round the fields, orchards, river and millpond. Fishing possible. The Mill House garden is just for us.
There is a trampoline for children and a swing for toddlers. Footpaths lead out to countryside in all directions

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We generally, though not exclusively, work from home so we are often around to give local information.

Autres remarques

We are on our own at the end of the lane so there is absolutely no traffic
The fields are often grazed by calves in Summer. They are small and curious but must not be fed or bothered.
With river, millpond and mill leat nearby, water should be respected.

This is a quiet and gentle place, so we should like you to respect the atmosphere. No Smoking inside. Being a mill, there is naturally water nearby; please be aware of it, especially with children. We allow well-behaved dogs, but it is essential that you pick up after them, please don't let them on beds & chairs or leave them unattended. They mustn't worry any cows or sheep in the surrounding fields.
Decided not to charge a cleaning fee as an extra in the belief that Airbnb guests are a clean and tidy group who recycle and leave things pretty much as they would like to find them.

A return stay at Cutterne Mill proved as enjoyable as the first. Philippa has furnished and equipped the accommodation with everything required for a comfortable and easy break in Somerset.

Four of us (two couples) spent the most glorious weekend at Philippa's place last weekend. It was one of the best Air bnb experiences we'd had. The location is beautiful, the property is beautifully done up and Philippa was a very welcoming and accommodating host. She even brought us some freshly picked plums from her garden and encouraged us to pick some more. We went on a long (albeit rainy!) walk, drove to a local farm shop to stock up on some delicious food and relaxed by the fire after a friend's wedding. The perfect weekend away. All amenities were as described: wifi, showers etc. Thank you Philippa!

This is such a lovely place to stay, even nicer than the photos suggest and very peaceful. We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely recommend to others. We hope to come back again!

It is a very peaceful place with lots of character. We were blessed with good weather and enjoyed wandering around the fields nearby, picking fruits, playing ping pong in the garden and simply sitting by a tree reading. There was a nice outside area where you could sit down for a drink in the evening. The living room was very cosy with well equipped kitchen and good atmospheric lighting. We enjoyed eating in and playing board games after spending all day outside. Philippa was a very welcoming and helpful host. Fantastic getaway from hectic city life!

Really nice, hidden and quiet place in the countryside. We were made very welcome by Philippa who left us to ourselves unless we needed her. We booked the whole place which was very nice and felt very homely. The children loved it, especially the great outside space to explore. I would definitely stay again!

Philippa is a perfect host to a perfect venue, a lovely quirky place to stay with all the home comforts you wish for and more. The setting is gloriously quiet and the grounds are great for exploring, and the location is perfect if you want to spend your days exploring Somerset. Thank you Philippa!

We live in the Mill House, across the yard from the Grainstore and Miller's Cottage - I write books and Miles paints. This is reflected in the fact that there are plenty of books and pictures everywhere. Cutterne Mill, although very close to Castle Cary & Bruton, is an extraordinarily peaceful oasis of pasture, orchard and river and rich in wildlife and history. Increasingly, the area is becoming a centre for culture. This is what we love about it and we are happy to share it.
