Your private room is located in our family's lovely 3-bedroom condo, a welcoming space for you to call home while enjoying all that New York's five boroughs have to offer. We are artists and students of culture and will be happy to help with recommendations during your stay.
We also have another airbnb bedroom with more space:
To yourself, you'll have a cozy room furnished with a comfortable and adjustable Ikea bed that pulls out from a twin to become a double. Your room also has a small refrigerator/freezer. yay! Clean sheets, blankets, pillows, and shampoo/conditioner are provided, as well as fresh towels and some closet space. (There are no additional charges for these items.)
(Note: When set-up as a double, the bed will take up most of the space in the room, though you may push it back into a twin for more space during the day.)
We provide you with your own set of house keys, including for your private room. We don't impose a curfew so you're welcome to come and go as you like -- make yourself at home!
There is one bathroom in the unit with a sink, toilet, and shower/tub to be used by all. While communication about timing for the use of the bathroom for morning and evening schedules is always beneficial, we have never had any issues sharing this space with guests.
You are also welcome to share the other common spaces as well -- living room with Apple TV and DVD set-up, kitchen, and dining table. Our home is strictly non-smoking, but the building's outdoor courtyard is only one flight downstairs with benches available.
We are a married couple with children -- a lawyer-filmmaker and licensed tour guide who likes to cook, an actress-seamstress and Broadway dresser who likes to bake, and two children who love to chase our old loveable cat around the apartment.
Due to our freelance lifestyles and the children's schedules, the house begins to wake with activity around 7am on weekdays, but is usually quiet again by 8am as our family heads out for the morning.
On weekends, we like to hope the children will "sleep in" until 8am, and will usually keep them playing in their room until 9am or so, or make our way out of the house for the day to enjoy the city for ourselves!

Échanges avec les voyageurs
We have been hosting on airbnb for 4 years and have really enjoyed sharing our home with visitors from other cities and countries Since we don't travel as much now that we have children we love that people from all over bring the flavors of their culture into our home when they come to stay with us. ;)
We are friendly and would be happy to share our love of New York with you during your stay. With our backgrounds as a licensed NYC tour guide and a member of multiple theatrical and performance unions, as well as our own general passions and interests, we are very knowledgeable about theatre, film, jazz, art and science museums, public parks, historical and cultural landmarks and other ins-and-outs about the city, and we would be glad to give you tips on (for example) standby tickets for The Book of Mormon, the best options for Monday night jazz, or how to get discounted entry to the Met and other museums.
If our schedules allow and guests have an interest, we welcome conversation over a cup of coffee or tea or a glass of wine to help with any suggestions or planning for your stay. Of course, we are around to answer any questions and to help make our guests' stay as enjoyable as possible!
PLEASE NOTE: when the Ikea day bed is pulled out into a double there is a weight limit of 225lbs per person.
Our apt is 2k.
When you arrive, buzz 2k from the lobby!
Once inside the apartment, please take off your shoes and leave them by the front door.
Whenever you leave our home or return, please lock the front door behind you.
Our home is strictly non-smoking.
Please do not take any showers between 645am and 745am as we need to get in and out of the bathroom to get kids off to school.
If you are using the AC in your room, just make sure and turn it off when leaving for the day. (Unless you'll only be gone a short while. It's just too expensive to cool an empty room!)
Also, please turn off lights in your room if you are leaving for a significant amount of time.
If you would like to use the washer and dryer, please talk to me first. Our washer uses concentrated soap and the dryer filter needs to be changed before each load. Let me show you the basics (soap, filter, etc.) It'll be quick and easy. ;)
(Here's a suggestion, Not a rule ;)
If you arrive into JFK or LGA, take a cab not an Uber. Uber is not cheaper than a cab in NYC and actually takes longer to get than a cab from the airport. Yellow cabs are lined up near baggage claim and are ready to go. They are metered and take cards or cash. Follow the signs for the yellow taxi line. We have had many a guest decide to take Uber from the airport and it delays their check in by several hours!
Joshua is a writer originally from the Atlantic City area and Karen is an actress, designer, improviser originally from a small town in southeastern Oklahoma. We have been hosting on airbnb for 4 years and really enjoy the opportunity to host such a wide variety of guests!
