The Moiwa Onsen House is located just behind the Moiwa ski area in its own little quiet part of Hokkaido. As soon as you have the time to slide into your private onsen, you’ll understand why we’re sharing this home with the rest of the world.
To see a virtual tour of the house check out the ExperienceJapow website. Simply add dot C O M to the end of the word above.
Entryway - We’ve designed our entryway to provide your wet gear with an ideal environment to dry and be stored for the next day. Plenty of room for footwear, outerwear, etc… We just kindly ask that you put all skis and snowboards in the basement in the provided rack.
Main living area - Comfy couch, dining table, and entertainment system with TV and soundbar should get you through the evenings. Whether it’s listening to music, playing games, or cozying up to watch a movie after a much needed onsen, we have you covered.
Kitchen - Equipped with all necessary cookware.
Sleeping arrangements - The house has two upstairs bedrooms, one equipped with two double beds, the other a set of bunk beds and a queen. We also offer a traditional futon so all six people can have their own sleeping arrangement if desired.
Bathroom - Full bath located downstairs. Entrance to onsen is through bathroom so you can have a rinse before and after if needed. Or, if you want to go the traditional approach, you’ll actually wash before and after to keep the onsen at an optimum “Natural” running capacity. Shower is laid out so that you can pass through to the onsen while someone is showering. We have listed the home at 1 1/2 bathroom because the onsen, shower, toilet and sink are all separate spaces so really 4 people can be using those spaces. The Onsen can hold 6 easily.
Basement floor - There you’ll find a large entrance ahead where you can store skis and snowboard.
Accès des voyageurs
Our house is your house. The entire house is available to you with the small exception of one back room in the basement where we store our personal items and house equipment that you just don't want to be bothered with.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
We are as hands on or hands off as you desire. We can arrange drivers, cleanings, chefs, tickets, tour of the home etc. Or, we can give you the code to the lock box and you can enjoy a private week at the house.
This house requires a vehicle that has four wheel drive as we have a long driveway that can get quite snowy and impassable with 2WD. If you don’t feel like driving yourself, or decide to go out to the bars, a personal driver can be arranged for you at a fixed cost. Catering can also be arranged if you don’t want to have a vehicle during your stay. Taxis are also available in the area.
The onsen is pressure washed before and after each guests stay to ensure a clean bathing experience. The water comes out of the ground 700 meters below the onsen and is not chemically treated. Minerals can build up in the water over an extended stay. If this is bothersome to you, a cleaning of the onsen may be requested. We highly recommend showering before each bathing in the onsen to prevent problems.
