Description

Old Timbers is a delightful 16th century hall house in the peaceful village of Muddles Green. It is surrounded by its own garden, trees and fields. It combines the charm of a historic house with all modern comforts. Double and twin rooms.

We love to welcome guests to this lovely house - its long history and peaceful atmosphere make for relaxation and a sense of timelessness. It is cosy, but there is plenty of space - 2 separate rooms, one double ( king size bed) and one twin/single. Breakfast is served overlooking the garden and pond, which is available for the use of guests, with a summerhouse and plentiful seating.

Guests have separate access to the garden and joint access to the house through the front door. The entire garden is available to be enjoyed. There is plenty of off road parking space.

There is always some-one at home to welcome guests and plentiful local information of places to visit nearby, historic houses and gardens, good pubs and restaurants, taxis, walking trails etc It is a pleasure to share our enthusiasm for the beautiful South Downs and the many places of artistic and historic interest nearby.

Old Timbers is just a few metres away from Farley Farm, the home of British Surrealism. It is 15 minutes drive to Glyndebourne, Charleston House and the South Downs Way. The Vanguard and Weald way pass right by the house. The historic market town of Lewes (home to Tom Paine) is 8 miles and Eastbourne, Brighton and the coast a very easy short drive. Both Eastbourne and Brighton are well supplied with concerts, theatres and galleries and many festivals and cultural events, not to mention lovely shops. There are very good local pubs, all serving meals.

We are 10 minutes' drive to Polegate and 20 to Lewes with their frequent trains to Gatwick and London Victoria. Gatwick is 30 minutes on the train and Victoria 1 hour. Brighton is 15 minutes on the train and there are connections all along the south coast. There are local taxi services available and a thrice daily bus service to Lewes, Eastbourne and other towns. We have ample and easily accessed off road parking.
